Nathalie’s research trip to Western Australia
Last June, Nathalie, our tour voyage consultant,
left for a research voyage organized by one of
our tour operators specializing in Australia - for
two weeks. The following are some of her
impressions:
Who hasn’t dreamed of going to Australia? The
continent seems so very far away, yet Western
Australia is only sixteen hours’ flying time from
Geneva via Dubai: not so distant after all! The
city of Perth is a jewel surrounded by water
and green spaces such as the Kings Park and
Botanic Garden, where you can experience all
the vegetation of the Australian Bush. The
town centre has a pedestrian area of shopping
arcades but also the magnificent facades of its historic
buildings, with something to captivate every visitor.
There are so many areas to discover in this part of Australia.
The natural treasures you can visit make the trip quite
worthwhile. There are the Stramatolites at Hamelin Pool, the
biggest and oldest fossils to have lived on the Earth; Kalbarri
National Park with its impressive gorge 150 metres deep
from which you can see whales and dolphins; The Pinnacles
New-York, New-York
National Park; and so much more...
As for beaches and encounters with sea
mammals, I discovered Shark Bay, Monkey Mia,
with a magnificent beach where you will come
across dolphins, and Ningaloo Reef, the
biggest coral reef on the periphery of Australia
and the only one in the world which is so close
to the shore-line. It just has to be surveyed
from the air (in a four-seater aircraft)! And I
mustn’t forget one of Australia’s absolutely
characteristic oddities: the kangaroos which
you can glimpse throughout our tour from
sun-up to sun-down.
The area to the North and South of Perth has
an exceptional variety of landscapes and centres of interest.
My two weeks’ stay enabled me to enjoy the most
extraordinary revelations in all respects. I shall go back there
without any hesitation.

Your agency will close at 17hrs (5 p.m.) the day before feast
days and holidays and on 23 and 30 December, which
are Fridays. It will be closed all day on 26 December and
2 January (Mondays) and re-open on 27 December and
3 January (Tuesdays) at 8.30 a.m., following the normal
schedule.
