This months meeting is our first of the summer & will be at Johnson park at the Butterworth St.
pavilion. Chicken will be the main course, please bring a dish to pass & your own drinks. Dinner
will be @ 6:15 with the meeting to follow.
We will be picking out the styles of jackets & shirts to order with the club logo's so please be

Kool Chevy is not going to host our winter meetings any longer so we need to find a place & get
it set up for the winter. So far Teaser's on Ottawa Ave. & Nick Finks in Comstock Park have been
mentioned as sites. If you have a place in mind let me know.
The ladies only FTL on 5/21 had 9 cars & 18 ladies attending & Pam reports they had a fun time.
The summer car show season is here so if you have a local show you'd like the club to be a part
of we could make it a "Club Event".
Yours, Marc Amate.

Our GVCA Banquet was held Saturday, April 7 at the Highlands Country Club. It was
good to welcome back most of our Snow Birds.
Thanks to Marc & Pam Amante and Gail Schuiling for handling this event. The food
was delicious, and there was even a cake decorated with the GVCA logo. Thanks also
to Gail for the centerpieces.
After dinner, awards were announced for Gordon Wilcox, as outgoing President &
Char Gabbert, as outgoing Secretary,
Next came the voted on awards:
Most Valuable Female - Pam Amante
Most Valuable Male - Denny Link.
Marc announced his President's Award giving a dinner gift certificate to Char & Denny
Link.
Denny presented Marc with the incoming President's Gavel, which should get much
use.
Sally Rynberg and Tony Lakatos did their usual fine job of remembering members' guffaws of the past year. Denny Rynberg assisted Sally in her presentations, while Janine
disavowed any complicity or knowledge of Tony's "awards". Vicki Briggs and Marc also presented humorous awards to deserving members. However, Marc ended up getting
his "Bonehead" award back again from Roger Davis.
We also had some nice door prizes from The Highlands Golf Club, Kool Chevrolet and
Caron Stetler, who gave gift certificates for Jaffra. Thank you very much.
All in all, it was a great evening.
Char & Denny Link

Well I know many people want to know how my husband Roger Gabbert. Been in
the hospital for 5 weeks in critical care awaiting a heart transplant. Found out yesterday his heart has deteriorated even more. They say he won't make it thru the surgery. So, it's the heart pump called an LVAD or hospice. The pump goes in Thursday morning. Prayers still needed, and thanks.

Vehicle Preview: 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport
Track-ready performance in a car you can drive every day
The Chevrolet Corvette is an unparalleled American success story, and the 2017 Corvette Grand Sport is an exciting new chapter in world-class performance and driving
pleasure. The all-new 2017 Corvette Grand Sport – which will be available in both
coupe and convertible body styles – combines the racing legacy of the original 1963
Grand Sport with the advanced technologies of today.
The newest Corvette Grand Sport is specially designed to dominate the track, much like
the 1963 Corvette Grand Sport, which had a
large impact on the future of Chevrolet racing; the 1996 Grand Sport, which marked
the end of fourth-generation Corvette production; and the 2010 Grand Sport, which
featured an impressive 3.95-second zero-to60 mph time and 436 hp from its 6.2-liter
LS3 V8 engine, yet still returned 26 mpg highway.
"Racing has been part of Corvette's essence for more than 50 years and that track
experience has helped us build better, more capable cars," said Mark Reuss, executive vice president of Global Product Development, Purchasing and Supply Chain for
General Motors. "The global acclaim for the seventh-generation Corvette validates
that direct link, and the 2017 Grand Sport takes its track-bred technology to a new,
exciting threshold."
The new 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport is the latest Corvette to push the performance envelope. It combines the power of a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LT1 V8
engine with a revised chassis and aerodynamics package that’s been specially designed for unmatched handling and grip. The engine produces 460 hp and 465 lb/ft
of torque, good for a 3.6-second zero-to-60 mph time, and you can choose a sevenspeed manual transmission with Active Rev Matching or an available eight-speed paddle-shift automatic.
A dry-sump oil system makes sure oil flow is maintained even through the most intense cornering. That system will be necessary, as the new Grand Sport is capable of
serious high-g-force cornering: Chevrolet reports 1.05g in cornering capability with
the standard tires, and up to 1.2g when the Z07 package is added.
14
You’ll get Michelin Pilot Super Sport summer tires and staggered wheels –
285/30ZR19 tires with 19x10-inch wheels in front, and 335/25ZR20 tires with 20x12
wheels in back. Big Brembo brakes provide strong stopping power. There are 14-inch
rotors with six-piston calipers in front and 13.4-inch rotors with four-piston calipers in
back. An electronic limited-slip differential, Magnetic Ride Control suspension with
specific stabilizer bars, and an active dual exhaust are also standard.
"We didn't hold back with the new Grand Sport," said Tadge Juechter, Corvette chief
engineer. "For the first time, buyers can equip the Grand Sport with a Z07 performance package – which adds carbon-ceramic brakes, Michelin Sport Cup 2 summer
tires, and carbon-fiber aero package that delivers true downforce."
To achieve the serious racing specs, engineers adapted the high-performance cooling
system, chassis tuning and other performance technologies of the Corvette Z06 for
the 2017 Grand Sport.
On top of its track-focused exterior aero features, the 2017 Grand Sport has modelspecific front fender inserts, wider rear fenders and a Z06-style grille. It will offer the
same interior and exterior colors as the Stingray, plus special, customized choices.
For example, an available Heritage Package includes unique hash-mark fender
graphics in six colors, full-length exterior stripes, and interior brushed aluminum trim
with hash-mark detailing.
“The choices are almost endless,” said Harlan Charles, Corvette product marketing
manager. “The packages take personalization to an unprecedented level, enabling
customers to create their own Corvette Grand Sport statement like no other.”
A limited-production Grand Sport Collector Edition will also be available in Watkins
Glen Gray Metallic, with Tension Blue hash-mark graphics, black wheels and fulllength satin-black stripes. The Collector Edition cabin is wrapped in Tension Blue
leather and suede and features headrests embossed with a 3D rendering of the original Grand Sport. There’s also an instrument panel plate with each vehicle’s unique,
sequential build number.
The 2017 Corvette Grand Sport will be available later this year, so watch for more information and come in for the latest updates on ordering and availability.
