As a member of Soya ni Pesa, a Catholic Relief Services project that means “soybeans are money,” she's learned that small changes make a big difference. Those changes have led to healthier food for her family--and are inspiring others in her community to take action. Please pray for all those who have made commitments in the consecrated life, and be sure to thank them on their special day. May they continue to be inspired by Jesus Christ and respond generously to God's gift of their vocation. Pray also for those who are discerning a vocation to Consecrated Life, and invite those who may be called to consider it. Spring 40 Days for Life Prayer Campaign LITTLE ROCK WILL NOT HOST A 40 DAYS FOR LIFE THIS SPRING, BUT THE NATIONAL EVENT NEEDS PRAYERS FOR ITS SUCCESS. Focus this spring in Little Rock will be on renewed efforts to build up Christ's army of prayer warriors to keep vigil, not just for 40 days at a time, but throughout the year. The first campaign here in 2008 resulted in a small group of people who asked “Why stop now?” Many babies' lives have been saved through the prayers offered on the sidewalk at the abortion clinic, but more people and prayers are needed. Dozens of lives are ended each week in our community; is God asking you to join us? For just one hour a week? All lives matter and the tragedy of abortion must end. For more information call Marsha Boss 960-5051. SAVE THE DATE! Arkansas Right to Life and Black Arkansans for Life will host a special event with Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on February 18th, Ash Wednesday. This is a “Don't Miss” opportunity to hear one of our country's leading pro-life voices. Watch the bulletin for more details. For this purpose have I come.’” – Mark 1:35, 38 In today’s Gospel reading we see a perfect example of stewardship. Jesus gives His time to do all that God wishes - healing the sick and preaching. Yet, Jesus also makes time to be alone in prayer. It is through prayer, spending time with God, that we find the strength to do what God wishes us to do. Be sure to find time every day to be with God. Evangelization: That mar r ied people who ar e separ ated may find welcome and support in the Christian community. With Lent less than two weeks away, how will my renewed commitment to baptized discipleship express itself in service to others? Does my daily schedule resemble at all Jesus’ balance of serious prayer and compassionate work on behalf of others? Collection for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe Next week we will take up the Collection for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe. Please give generously to the collection next week. Visit www.usccb.org (search “Church in Central and Eastern Europe”) to learn more. Altar Server Training The Altar Server training will take place on Sunday, February 8th after the 11am Mass. Lunch will be provided for those who attend. Adults and children who have made their First Communion are eligible. Attendance is required for those who serve. Please consider being a part of this much needed ministry.
