MENSAHE
Ang Barangay Montes Balaon ay patuloy na umuunlad sa
pamamagitan ng tulong na nanggagaling sa pamahalaang Bayan ng
Atimonan. Nagpapasalamat kami sa lahat ng mga biyaya na dumating sa
amin, nawa ay patuloy kaming gabayan ng Panginoon at bigyan ng
kalakasan ng katawan upang patuloy naming magampanan ang mga gawin
para sa higit na ikauunlad n gaming Barangay.
Sana ay tuloy–tuloy na ang pag-unlad ng Barangay sa pamamagitan
ng pagtutulungan at pagkakaisa ng mga namumuno at mga mamamayan
dito.

MENSAHE
Mahalaga ang kamulatan ng mamamayan sa mga impormasyon ukol sa
bawat barangay ng Atimonan. Ang magbigay ng konkreto at angkop na mga
datos ang layunin ng Socio-Economic Profile ng mga Barangay. Ito rin ang
magsisilbing matibay na batayan upang mabalangkas ng Pamahalaang Bayan
ang mga programang pangkaunlaran na ang mamamayan ang higit na
makikinabang.
Ang ating mamamayan ang salamin ng kaunlaran ng bayan kaya ang
progreso ng apatnapu’t dalawang barangay ay pinapahalagahan ng Lokal na
Pamahalaan ng Atimonan. Ang Socio-economic Profile ang testimonya na patuloy
ang pag-unlad ng ating bayan.

Punumbayan
VISION
Isang maayos at matahimik na pamayanan, may malinis na
kapaligiran, may mga mamamayang may magandang
kaugalian , may pananalig sa Diyos. Mga namumunong
tumutupad sa serbisyo sa barangay at mamamayang may
pagkakaisa at maayos na pamumuhay.
MISSION
Bigyang pansin at tuparin ang mga sinumpaang tungkulin
ng walang pag-aalinlangan. Makapaglingkod sa mga
mamamayan ng lubos at tapat upang maitaas ang antas ng
Edukasyon at magkaroon ng mamamayang nagkakaisa
nagmamahalan, nagtutulnangan para sa kaunlaran.
1. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
KASAYSAYAN NG BARANGAY MONTES BALAON
Noong unang panahon na ang Pilipinas ay sakop pa ng mga Kastila, ang lahat
ng lugar dito ay nasa kanilang kapangyarihan at ang mga rebeldeng Pilipino ay tinatawag
nilang Insurectos. Sa panahong ito, sumilang dito sa Atimonan ang nagngangalang Simeona
Mangaba na kung tawagin ng mga tao ay Ate Monang.
Dito naman sa lugar ng Montes Kallagan ay kukunti pa o halos wala pang taong
naglalagi. Kung gabi dahil sa pangambang baka paslangin ng mga tulisan ay walang taong
lumalabas. Dito ay naglalakihan at matatayog ang mga punong kahoy. Mayroong ilang tao
mula sa ibaba ang dumarayo sa lugar na ito kasama ang kanilang aso para manguha ng
uway at manghuli ng usa at baboy ramo para gawing pagkain at ang sobra ay ipinagbibili
para sa ibang pangangailangan.
Isang araw na maaliwalas ang panahon mayroong ilang mangangaso na dumayo
sa nasabing pook. Nang bandang katanghalian ang araw habang sila ay naglalakad sa
pusod ng gubat nakarinig sila ng kahol ng mga aso kaya dali-dali silang sumugod upang
malaman kung ano ang nakita ng kanilang aso. Subalit gayun na lamang ang kanilang
pagkagulat dahil hindi hayop ang kanilang nakita kundi isang katamtamang gulang na
lalaki na nakagapos sa haligi ng munting dampa at nagsasabing “kalagan ninyo ako,
kalagan ninyo akooo”. “Matagal na akong nakatali dito”. Agad naman nilang kinalagan ang
nasabing lalaki at sinabi sa kanila ng lalaki, “nagpapasalamat ako at nailigtas ninyo ang
buhay ko”.
Ang pangyayaring ito ay di makalimutan ng mga tao at simula nga noon, kung
pupunta ang mga tao sa lugar na ito ay tinatawag nilang sa kalyagan sila pupunta. Ikinapit
ang salitang Montes dahil ang parteng ito ay sakop ng Montes Balaon at nang lumaon dahil
sa kalakihan ng lupaing nasasakop nito, ang mga taong namamalagi na rito ay nahihirapan
sa pagdalo kung may pulong na idinaraos.
Makalipas ang ilang taon, hiniling ng mga taga kalyagan na nanirahan ng palagian
dito na humiwalay o bumukod sa Montes Balaon, at tinawag na nga itong Montes Kallagan.
2. PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Barangay Montes Balaon is one of the inner barangays of Atimonan, located about 10.6
kilometers away from town’s poblacion. This barangay is 7.1 kilometers away from National
Highway bounded on the north by Barangay Montes Kallagan, on the south by Barangay San
Andres Labak, on the east by Barangay Ilosong, Plaridel Quezon and on the west by Barangay
Rizal, Unisan Quezon.
It has a total land area of 600.3490 hectares per record of Municipal Assessors Office
composed of six sitios- Sitio Gumuhan, Sitio Malali na Sapa, Sitio Kapsa, Sitio Bukal, Sitio
Lukmoy at Sitio Maasana. Topography of the land is mountainous to hilly. Almost 99 % of
land is agricultural. Definitive data were specified below:

3. SOCIO-ECONOMIC SECTOR
RHU Survey of 2014, showed that Brgy. Montes Balaon had a population of 445.
There are more male than female with distribution revealing 25.40% of the total
population belong to ages 10 – 59 years old; 21.34% under 1 year old to 9 year old
and 53.25% belonging to 60 years old and above. This shows that Brgy. Montes
Balaon has more dependent population than working population.
School going population (pre-school, elementary, secondary and college) is
computed at 34% of the total population and the most common religion is Roman.
