goals the last few weeks of school for studying, completion of assignments, and
project completion. Within the next few weeks, your child (grades 9-11 in satisfactory
academic standing) will receive a course selection sheet for the 13-14 school year.
We ask that you discuss the course selections to make sure it is a good fit based on
his/her current and past performance. Together, we can help guide students towards
success!
A special thank you to all who have helped with the Spring Flea Market. We are so
appreciative of our Parent Advisory Council for organizing this community fundraiser!

From the Office of Student Services
Good Day, All:
As we draw nearer to the close of the 2012-2013 academic year, the state-wide assessment season is rapidly approaching. As you
know, students in all grade levels will be expected to demonstrate high levels of mastery in specific content and skill areas. Heightened stress
levels tend to be exhibited among students and staff during this time. Please remember that although these are high-stakes assessments, these
tests are never to be viewed as the sole indicator of the mastery/ability level of a student, or the sole indicator of the effectiveness of a teacher. It
is critical that we encourage students to take these assessments seriously, and we provide them access to many preparatory materials, but that
we also maintain a positive, supportive school climate to minimize stress levels.

Spring Flea Market – 3/23 – 7:00am – 1:00pm
Volunteers are needed prior to the Spring Flea Market (advertising, flyer distribution, student
assembly, organizing and pricing items). The day of the Flea Market volunteers will be needed to
help with the grill and many of the other activities at the event. This should be a great community
event with many people attending.
Monetary opportunities instead of volunteering:
Target and/or Wal-mart gift cards in $25 denominations. These will be used throughout the year as
incentives/rewards for students. You will receive 2.5 hours for each $25. Just place them in an
envelope and send them in to Ms. Dorta in the front office. Make sure she has your name and knows
that you are donating the cards to earn volunteer hours.
BDCHS Students:
Tell the Tampa Bay region about your favorite BDCHS teacher! Nominate one of your teachers
for the 2nd Annual My Teacher Kicks Asterisk! Award. Top teachers from each county will appear
in an upcoming issue of the TB-Two publication, receive an award, and receive some great prizes,
including a $50 restaurant gift certificate!
Nominate today at www.tb-two.com, or visit the Office of Student Services before or after school for
