SHELBY RYAN SCFHA Brock Jr. Badgers Sara Bauer Academy FLEET Appleby College July 18, 1998 From Shelby Coach’s Corner “I like hockey because it is a fun game to play. I
love the speed and intensity. I also love to
compete and to win.
My goals for hockey are to make the 2015 Nova
Scotia Canada Winter Games team, to win
colours for the Appleby hockey team, to earn an
invitation to the U18 Hockey Canada training
camp, and to go to an NCAA Division I school.”
What I can bring to my team:
“I can contribute to my team by being a leader on
and off the ice. As a goaltender my job is to keep
my team in games when they need me. I always
work hard in practice, as well as in games.”
“Shelby has made the decision that hockey is
her number one sport, and she has outlined
some very clear and measureable goals for
herself. She has made sacrifices at a young
age, including moving away from home, to
pursue these goals to the best of her ability.
“Shelby is a competitor who plays with a
great deal of fire and intensity. She seems to
thrive in tight contests, where she has a
chance to come up big for our team and help
preserve a win or keep us in the game.”
How I am working to grow as a player:
“I am very interested in working on my mental
game. I need to work on handling pressure in big
games and close games. Also, I need to continue
to work on how to recover and refocus after
getting scored on.”
