42nd FOOD FAIR AND 25th INTERNATIONAL
NA
ATIONAL
TOURISM EXCHANGE AND TOURISM FAIR
A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE
The 42nd Food Fair and 25th
International Tourism Exchange
and Tourism Fair, Equipment for
Hotels and Catering - METUBES
- were held during the Adriatic
Fair in Budva. During the opening
ceremony, the Director of Adriatic
Fair, Rajko Bujković, PhD,
Assistant Professor, pointed out
that the Fair originated in 1968 in
the same venue in Budva.
“Over the almost 50 years of
its existence, the contribution
made by the Adriatic Fair to the
economy has been substantial,
through the promotion of
companies and boosting sales.
Nevertheless, it is important to
highlight the fact that the Fair has
significantly contributed to the
internationalisation of corporate
activities in Montenegro. During
the past 50 years of its existence,
Adriatic Fair, as a member of
the Global Association of the
Exhibition Industry, has witnessed
the growing importance of the
exhibition industry,” noted Bujković,
expressing his hopes that this year’s
exhibition events will meet the
expectations both of exhibitors and
visitors.
Srdja Popović, PhD, President of
the municipality of Budva, has, by
his presence, yet again extended
his full support both to exhibitors
participating at the Fair and to the
organiser –Adriatic Fair.
“Budva is an open-hearted city
that has always attracted a large
numbers of visitors, and we
normally greet them by expressing
mutual hopes of meeting here
again. I can express my greatest
satisfaction with the fact that the

number of exhibitors at the 42nd
Food Fair, as well as the 25th Tourism
Fair has increased considerably. I
would like you to feel comfortable
and hope you will decide at the
conclusion a vast number of
business deals, primarily aiming
to show an extremely successful
tourism season”, stated Popović,
expressing his sincere hopes that
Budva shows the best results on
record concerning the number of
tourists during the forthcoming
tourism season.
His Excellency The Ambassador of
Hungary to Montenegro, Krisztian
Posa, pointed out his great honour
of the fact that Hungary participated
at the International Food Fair, and
he showed his appreciation primarily
to the Director of Adriatic Fair,
as well as to all the organisers for
their effort. “We have established
successful long-term co-operation
with the Adriatic Fair. I believe it
is important to reiterate that in
2014 Hungary was the partner
country to the Food Fair. Due to
favourable conditions, Hungarian
agriculture has the potential meet
the requirements of both the
domestic and foreign demands,
and hence we export a considerable
share of our agricultural products.
Agriculture without genetically
modified organisms, against a
backdrop of excellent conditions
for breeding and nutrition of cattle
and extremely severe standards
concerning nutrition safety,
guarantee top quality products.
Consequently, our foreign partners
Srdja Popović, PhD, President of
the municipality of Budva
are provided the opportunity to
achieve excellent business results
through the processing of these
products, as well as the sale of
finished products,” as explicitly
highlighted by Ambassador Posa.
Furthermore, he stressed that one
of the prerequisites for propitious
conditions for food production is
skilled and qualified labour, which
can be achieved exclusively through
high quality education and training
of future agricultural experts. This is
precisely the point in which he sees
ample potential and opportunities
for students from Montenegro:
“Students from Montenegro, as
well as those from neighbouring
countries, have been given the
opportunity of a scholarship offered
by the Hungarian government,
to obtain a Master’s Degree from
one of the prestigious agricultural
colleges and universities in
Hungary. Since 2008, our country
has provided education through
agriculture scholarships for over
230 scholarship recipients from
South-East Europe, Africa and Asia.
This programme will continue from
September 2016 and we hope to be
able to welcome new students from
Montenegro” – pointed out Posa.
A unique experience of Indonesia,
a combination of traditional
heritage and modernism
His Excellence The Ambassador
of Indonesia, Harry Richard James
Kandou, expressed his absolute
satisfaction with the fact that
Indonesia was the partner country
His Excellency The Ambassador
of Hungary to Montenegro,
Krisztian Posa
at this year’s International Tourism
Exchange and Tourism Fair,
Equipment for Hospitality and
Catering Industry (METUBES).
“I will use this opportunity to
express my gratitude to Adriatic
Fair management for having
provided this opportunity of
presenting Indonesia. I am
extremely honoured to be able
to greet you at the Indonesian
exhibition stand, since this year
Indonesia is the partner country
of the 25th International Tourism
Exchange and Tourism Fair,
Equipment for Hospitality and
Catering Industry (METUBES).
“Moreover, we would like to
emphasise the unique experience
of Indonesia which is a combination
of a living multicultural society,
a traditional heritage, simplicity,
as well as the colours and the
energy of a country that has been
internationally recognised as the
“Jewel of the Equator”, stated
Ambassador Kandou, adding that
Montenegro is primarily recognised
by its tourism.
“I strongly believe that there is
ample potential for co-operation,
primarily in the tourism sector.
Co-operation in catering, culinary
art, spa services and ecotourism
is about to flourish. This Fair is an
excellent opportunity for bringing
people together and establishing
partnerships between Indonesia
and Montenegro in the travel and
tourism sector. Consequently,
I believe this Fair to be of
fundamental importance for the

establishment and development
of co-operation and the venue in
which opportunities and ideas are
implemented and become real”
concluded the Ambassador.
Montenegro – world’s top tourism
destination
“Montenegro is a Mediterranean
country. Over 300 million people
travel towards the Mediterranean
annually, accounting for 1/3 of
total international travel. Hence,
Montenegro has immense

Tourism
potential and, being aware
of this fact, we have already
exploited a large number of
opportunities. We have thus far
received excellent recognition as
a tourism destination for several
consecutive years”, noted Marko
Petričević, Managing Director
of the Directorate for Tourism
Destination Management at
the Ministry of Sustainable
Development and Tourism during
the opening ceremony of the
Fair, whilst pointing out several
examples and success stories. “St
Stephen is on the front cover of
the ‘National Geographic Traveller’,
a prestigious magazine, published
once in a decade, in which
Montenegro ranks amongst the
world’s 50 best countries to live in.
The ‘Lonely Planet’ guide named
Kotor as ‘Best in Travel 2016’,
whilst the list previously included
New York, London, San Francisco
and Paris, so it is obviously a huge
success. Moreover, ‘Lonely Planet’
named Jaz Beach as the best beach
in 2015, and this year a London
daily newspaper with a circulation
of 3.2 million, and a digital edition
followed by 35 million readers,
ranked ‘Sea Dance Festival’
amongst the top 5 best festivals,”
stressed Petričević, adding that
this is all due to joint action of
the Montenegro government
and the Ministry of Sustainable
Development and Tourism on the
one hand and entrepreneurs on the
other, with Adriatic Fair deserving
to be attributed special importance
as a long-term reliable partner.
Daily tasting events and a festive ambience at the exhibition
stand of the Trebjesa-Nikšić brewery within 42nd Food Fair
Trebjesa brewery is one of the
oldest factories in Montenegro.
It has been involved in beer
brewing tradition since
1896. The factory was the
first privatised company in
Montenegro in 1997 and has
had several owners, as well as
several international
beer brewing groups
to date, yet the
Trebjesa brewery is
still recognised by
its high quality and
strong partnership
with the community.
Since 2012, the
company has
been wholly owned by the
Canadian corporation Molson
Coors. The widely-known
Nikšićko Pivo has thus far been
awarded over 70 medals for
quality at a large number of
international and domestic fairs.
In addition to Nikšićko Pivo,
as one of the widely
recognised brands
from Montenegro,
the original products
provided by Trebjesa
brewery are: Nikšićko
Tamno, Nikšićko Gold,
Nikšićko Cool Lemon
and Nikšićko Cool
Grapefruit. In order
to mark its 120th anniversary,
the brewery launched another
beer brand named Onogošt
Pivo, as its sixth original product.
Authenticity and tradition are
primarily valued by Trebjesa
brewery, which was the case
also during the 42nd Food Fair.
The company’s appearance at
the Fair was primarily organised
against the backdrop of its
anniversary and hence tasting
events were organised daily, as
well as photographic sessions.
In addition to the tasting of
Onogošt Pivo, a black and white
photograph was distributed as
an event souvenir gift.

PRESENTATION OF RESEARCH RESULTS ON THE
TOPIC OF “PERSPECTIVES ON SUSTAINABLE TOURISM
DEVELOPMENT ON THE TERRITORY OF LAKE SKADAR”
The presentation of research
results on the topic of
“Perspectives on Sustainable
Tourism Development on the
Territory of Lake Skadar” was
delivered and organised by the
Mediterranean University of the
Faculty of Tourism on the first day
of the Fair. The presentation was
delivered by Ana Stranjančević,
Ph.D, Assistant Professor and
Iva Bulatović, Ph.D, Assistant
Professor. In addition to a large
number of interested visitors, the
presentation was attended by
Silvana Đurašević, Ph.D, professor
and Dean of the Faculty of Tourism,
who pointed out that: “Sustainable
development is of fundamental
importance for tourism and one
of the principal directions. The
Mediterranean University at the
Faculty of Tourism is currently
working on several projects on
this principle, with one of them
being supported by the Ministry of
Science – the research project on
Lake Skadar. At Adriatic Fair huge
emphasis was placed on food and
gastronomy, since it is considered
crucial for tourism development.
Unless we have all the factors
required to provide an adequate
tourism product, we cannot have
sustainable tourism. Our tourists
need to be satisfied in order to
provide good feedback that will
ensure they return,” emphasised
Silvana Đurašević, Dean of Faculty
of Tourism, adding that Tourism
Fair in Budva was technically wellorganised.
“During this period we are basically
summing up the international
market results concerning
organised travel tours. Participants
at the Fair arrived from the wider
region and we have noted that
they were aiming to agree on
specific capacities and I hope this
will enhance the segment that we
completed during the previous
period,” stated Silvana Đurašević,
Ph.D, professor.
Ana Stranjančević, Ph.D, Assistant
Professor, pointed out that the
results of a three-year project at
national level were presented.
The project analysed aspects
of sustainable development of
tourism on the territory of Lake
Skadar National Park.
“The project was supported and
financed by the Ministry of Science
of the government of Montenegro.
Throughout a three-year research
period and in addition to theoretical
research, we also conducted
empirical research amongst
the local population, aiming to
analyse their preparedness for
becoming involved in tourism,
as well as amongst tourists,
both international and local and
amongst visitors to the National
Park, also both international
and local. Furthermore, we
interviewed experts in the field of
tourism: protection of the living
environment, rural development
and agriculture, to name a few,
who provided their expert opinion
on sustainable development in
this area”. Concerning the main
findings, Stranjančević stated that
they primarily implied involvement
of the local community in
sustainable development, aiming
to halt migration from rural
households in this area. Moreover,
certain specific prerequisites need
to be met, primarily concerning
rehabilitation and renovation of the
existing infrastructure.
“Preservation and conservation
of the living environment
and existence of sustainable
development need to be primarily
considered, as well as the
enhancement of these resources
and preservation and protection of
the local identity, since these two
aspects are actually the principal
motives of tourist arrivals to the
territory of Lake Skadar” – stressed
Stranjančević.

PRESENTATION OF BEDEM FEST
During the Adriatic Fair Petar
Šundić, Executive Director
of Bedem Fest, presented
the festival for the seventh
consecutive year and this year it
has a symbolic slogan – ‘Believe’.
“We have been here for three
consecutive years and believe
Adriatic Fair exerts a highly
significant impact on our festival. It
is a fact that this is the only festival
and that it is represented both
during the exhibition and during
the programme. We are aiming to
be significant participants in the
promotion of tourism programmes
during the forthcoming season,
since we believe there is immense
potential. This year’s festival
slogan – ‘Believe’ – implying
belief in yourself, belief in your
potential, your visions, your
dreams, belief in other people,
regain lost confidence, irrespective
of a large number of obstacles one
encounters in one’s life.”
The names of three participants
for the seventh 7th Fest Festival
were announced during the
promotion: the Croatian group
with cult status – Drugi način,
will perform in Montenegro for
the first time, marking their
40th anniversary, the promising
musician Kralj Čačka and the
popular group E-play from
Belgrade. “We opted for Budva,
as the best possible venue for
this event, during which we hope
to break all records” – added the
Executive Director of Bedem Fest
Petar Šundić.
PRESENTATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL FAIR
“HEALTHY, HOMEMADE NATURAL”
A highly relevant presentation
at the International Fair Healthy
Homemade Natural was organised
by the Zaječar Regional Chamber
of Commerce and held within the
Food Fair.
The President of the Zaječar
Regional Chamber of Commerce,
Dejan Tošić, expressed his gratitude
to Adriatic Fair as a host and
primarily to Director Bujković,
for having provided them with
the opportunity to participate.
“There are several reasons for our
participation here, one of them
being the wish to promote our
International Fair. Through this Fair
we are present almost throughout
the former Yugoslavia: Virovitica,
Mostar, Dubrovnik, Banja Luka
and all in one year, during which
we have focused on the promotion
of our Fair, striving to improve the
organisational performance. One
of our principal tasks from last year
was to have a representative from
Montenegro”, noted Tošić.
“Our exhibition stand presents
a large number of producers,
ranging from the smallest to the
largest and therefore there is the
Zaječar beer factory that marked
its 120th anniversary last year,
wine producers from throughout
the Timočki Region, and from
Knjaževac, Boljevac brandy,
Rtanjska vatra brandy, Jović wines
and top quality Timomed honey
from Knjaževac. Moreover, we
are presenting our Association of
Business Women and Regional
Chamber of Commerce as the sole
founder of the Chamber whose
promotion we actively follow”,
noted Tošić, adding that in addition
to enhancing economic growth,
the Chamber is intended to boost
Zaječar tourism promotion, as well
as the promotion of its monuments
and other tourist attractions. “In
addition to the presentation of
the economy, we are striving to
promote tourism potential and our
Feliks Romulijana archaeological
site that is the brand both of the
city of Zaječar and the whole of
Serbia” stressed Tošić.

CLUSTERS AS A NEW WAY OF ENTREPRENEURIAL
BUSINESS
The Employment Agency
of Montenegro organised a
presentation on “Cluster as a new
form of entrepreneurial business”
at the Adriatic Fair. The lecturers
were Filip Mihajlovic, Vesna Vukic
and Teodora Vujovic.
Consultant for Entrepreneurship
and projects, Filip Mihailović,
explained that this is a project of the
Institute for Employment entitled
“Young people are our potential;
give them a chance,” and the
creation of a cluster is one of the
goals of this project.
“Clusters are an informal group of
entrepreneurs, micro, small and
medium enterprises, artisans, who
are engaged in the same or similar
activity, gathered in one group.
It is important to say that they
are geographically concentrated,
and that this group covers all the
problems the cluster will solve, plus
all the benefits of a cluster at the
same time, and are connected by
the same objectives.
Thus, the essence of clusters is
that they synergistically as a group
work, together to achieve a certain
goal. In addition, I would note that
the Employment agency is a vital
factor in the cluster, to initiate and
edit the cluster technically. That
is what we talked about today on
Adriatic Fair in Budva and invited
all entrepreneurs, all legal entities
engaged in an agricultural activity,
to contact the parent employment
offices and to initiate a function of
clusters” Mihajlovic explained.
When asked what were the
biggest problems and the benefits,
Mihailovic said: “The most
common problems that anyone
in the business can encounter are
administrative problems with which
our entrepreneurs happen to meet,
and the cluster is ideal to help the
administration of business barriers.
There are ample benefits acquired
by establishing a cluster such as:
funding from various Ministries,
then a cluster has the possibility
to apply for funding from the
European Union for IPA projects
and other funds that are given
from the budget of Montenegro. In
addition, the cluster organisation
is differentiated in the market and,
therefore, competition is better,
because the strategy “go it alone”
is not up-to-date anymore - it can
only be done by large companies
and entrepreneurs gathered in
small groups – clusters - that are
much better positioned and have
a better competitive advantage on
the market “Mihajlovic said.
“THE ROAD TO GOOD HEALTH AND LONGEVITY” BOOK
PROMOTION
The famous Montenegrin
phytotherapist - herbalist
Branislav Popović, presented
his book “The road to good
health and longevity” at the
Adriatic Fair. In a book full of
tips and recipes, five decades
of research results and studies
of medicinal plants in the area
are summarised, and some
of the author’s products that
have been verified and tested
in scientific medical institutions
are presented. There are also
life stories and destinies of
people whom herbs and bee
products helped solve health
problems. “I wrote this book in
order to help readers discover
which herb is good for certain
diseases and that they could
find their way to good health”
Popovic said. Having visited all
of the former Yugoslavia, the
author concluded that, as far as
the quality of herbs is concerned,
Montenegro stands out, as it is
rich in plants which absorb all
the necessary minerals from
stone. Draženka Bacic, a student
of the fifth year of Pharmacy,
spoke about the book as well as
the author.

To the fair with success No. 112
 Today, we often hear the opinion
that Fair exhibiting in the era of
Internet and direct marketing is
becoming obsolete. What would
be the main counter to this
argument?
 It is true that the Internet, along
with other forms of marketing
has brought major changes
in the way we do business
today. But, let me underline
an important detail, published
in the Trade Show Handbook.
Recent research has shown
that 90% of the people who
visit Fairs and have purchasing
power, did not receive a
purchase invitation, or request
a sales talk over the entire year.
This means that trade Fairs put
you in contact with a target
group that you have had no
individual contact with, even
though you probably thought
you knew your market well. The
joy of an unexpected encounter,
and in ‘instantaneous’ insight
into your market remain the
main motivation for exhibiting
at Fairs.
