Progressive Cavity Pumps
Standard design
The progressive cavity pump is a positive displacement pump with one single rotating shaft. A stainless steel rotor and a rubber stator
are the main pumping components. The rotor is a circular section single screw. The rubber stator is vulcanized inside a steel pipe.
Renowned for their versatility, different models are available in a choice of AISI 304, 316 stainless steel or in cast iron. Flow rates up
to 130 m3/h, pressures up to 24 bar and temperatures up to 100 °C. Motorisation: direct motor, geared motor, variable speed motor,
motor and pulley, gear motor with inverter.
MA series - Foodstuffs execution
Pumps for foodstuffs with a large suction chamber. Wetted
parts are polished stainless steel with DIN threaded hygienic
connections.
MAN series
MI series - Industrial execution
Sturdy industrial pumps suitable for heavy duty requirements.
Cast suction chamber and flanged connections.
MIN series
The progressive cavity pumps can handle almost any kind of fluid up to 800.000 cps., including abrasive liquids and suspensions with
solids. The pumping action is delicate, without sudden pulsation and the flow rate is proportional to the rotational speed.
MC series - Features a hopper and a pre-feeding screw
Version with a hopper equipped with pre-feeding auger screw
suitable for viscous products that do not flow easily through
pipes. The top part is equipped with a rectangular flange to
which any type of conveyance system can be connected.
MCN series
MCR series - Features a hopper, a pre-feeding screw and a
vane crusher
Version with hopper, pre-feeding screw and vane crusher, suitable
for dense products in lumps, pieces or that tend to form a bridge
around a normal screw feeder. The vane crusher is driven by an
independent geared motor, to crush the product to be pumped,
breaking down any large lumps and pushing them into the prefeeding screw.
MCRN series
Serie MC2R
MC2R series - Features a hopper, a pre-feeding screw and 2
blade feeders
Version equipped with hopper with pre-feeding screw and 2
blade feeders. The two feeders press the product into the prefeeding screw to prevent the product form forming a bridge
which could slow the flow of a very highly viscous product.
MC2C series - Features a hopper, 2 pre-feeding screws and 1
blade feeder
Serie MC2C
Version with hopper and double synchronised pre-feeding screws,
mounted below a vane crusher. The vane crusher blades chop
the product and push it towards the bottom of the hopper.
The two pre-feeding screws then push the product into to the
pump stator.
MAV series - Vertical execution
MAV Series pumps are intended for product transfer and drum
or container emptying applications, in which the suction port
is plunged directly into the product. As standard, MAV pumps
have a suction to discharge port dimension of 1100 - 1400 mm.
It can be mounted on a drum-holding trolley, with a choice of
either a manual sliding or an alternative pneumatic lift and lower
system.

Filling and emptying of barrels
The most accurate electronic
control to respect the taste of
masterpieces
One of the most important things in winemaking is to safeguard the
taste and fragrance, without stressing the product delicacy. Thanks to
this kind of pump, the most precious barrelled wines can be handled
carefully and gently without disturbing their natural balance.
CSF Inox have designed a pump, which is specific for filling and emptying
barrels. The volumetric liquid flow is constant and the starting and
stopping of the pump is progressive. This ensures streamline flow and
prevents foaming and air entrapment. Settled particles in the barrell
will not be agitated during the transfer process due to the effective
automated control system.
Operation
The pump can be used by manually adjusting both the speed, by
means of a potentiometer, and the pressure by means of the automatic
pressure relief by-pass valve. Such a system can be used for decanting,
filtering, and bottling machine feeding.
The lack of liquid on the probe fitted in the suction pipe stops the
pump. This avoids dry running.
Features
• Screw pump in stainless steel AISI 304 /
316 series MAE mono-bloc with bi-directional
mechanical seal
• Automatic by-pass with spring adjustment (optional)
• Stainless steel trolley
• Electronic variable speed unit
• Electrical control panel enclosure
• Stainless steel probes for filling and emptying

MAV series - Vertical progressive cavity pumps
The MAV series progressive cavity pumps are designed for vertical
operation with the inlet immersed in the product. The range consists
of the following models, MAV 40-1, 50-1, 60L, 65-1, 70L, 80-1, 90L
in single stage version and are manufactured in stainless steel AISI
316.
MAV Series pumps are intended for product transfer and drum or
container emptying applications, in which the suction port is plunged
directly into the product.
As standard, MAV pumps have a suction to discharge port dimension
of 1100 - 1400 mm. On request, this distance can be personalised to
suit a customer’s requirements.
It can be mounted on a drum-holding trolley, with a choice of either
a manual sliding or an alternative pneumatic lift and lower system.
The operating characteristics and construction materials of these
pumps enable the MAV series to be used with many different fluids,
from low to high viscosity, including many abrasive and corrosive
media. An added benefit is the ability to handle fluids containing
fibres or solid materials in suspension.
The main components of the MAV series pumps, such as the
stator, rotor, joints and mechanical seal are the same as used on
the corresponding MAE series of progressive cavity pumps. A wide
range of materials are available for the stator, rotor and the sealing
elements.
CHARACTERISTICS OF MAV PUMPS
- constant, delicate flow without pulses
- absence of suction valves
- self-priming
- low noise level
- wide range of motor drives with fixed or
speed
- differential pressure up to 6 bar
- performances are the same as equivalent
in the progressive cavity pump catalogue.
The drive, consists of a reduction gearbox and
electric motor with built-in inverter, for speed
adjustable forward and reverse rotation. Speed
control enables pump performance to be
adjusted for differing application requirements.

DIN 11851 DISCHARGE PORT EXEC.
Recirculation - Decanting
With progressive cavity
pumps
The potential application of progressive cavity pumps
in winemaking are many. They are also useful for small
production volumes since this pump can encompass all
cellar operations such as decanting, storage, pumping
must over grape husks(cap) and clear wines and musts.
One extremely versatile pump that allows a cheaper
management of wine movement while guaranteeing
optimal product treatment.
Its use, cleaning and inspection are all very simple.
The progressive cavity pump once featured a technical shortfall that it was
unable to “run dry” (without liquid). This problem has been resolved by
applying a particular safety device.
Use of these pumps allows the pumping of grape-peels and pips without
damaging or clogging the pump.
The trolley version allows free movement of the pump, useful in many
different applications.
With centrifugal screw pumps
The particular impeller shape, a perfect integration between casing and cover
and low NPSH values assure a delicate handling without clogging, ideal for
recirculation.
The pumps series CR have been
designed and manufactured in
order to allow extremely low flow
velocities of the liquids and joined
to the particular screw impeller
shape they determine a delicate and
integral handling.
They combine the properties of a
centrifugal pump with the delicacy of
a progressive cavity pump.
This enables one to pump high
consistency material with the
presence of solids.

Pressing - Transfer of pressed grapes, mash, musts and wine
exec. MCR
The eccentric screw pumps belong to the family of the progressive cavity pumps. Their field of application is wide and varied and used for pumping viscous,
delicate, abrasives and solid materials in suspension that must not be damaged.
With a constant delivery (adjustable by changing the rotating speed of the
motor), they can offer high pressures and move products without turbulance or
aeration. This occurs due to the special operating principle that does not impart
centrifugal force or lamination and therefore has no negative effect on the product. They are also self-priming pumps that work at low rotational speeds and
maintain high efficiencies (7580% in suitable operating conditions) in a varied speed range.
Manufactured to specific requirements for the enological segment, they are reliable during
each phase of the pumping of
grapes and wine, from transfer of
whole grapes up to evacuation of
processing refuses.

MCPE series - Progressive cavity pumps for grape crusher
• New series of eccentric screw pumps with hopper and pre-feeding screw, are for transporting oenological products (pressed
grapes with or without grape-stalks). Made of stainless steel with a protective grid over the hopper, the pump unit includes a
compact angular drive motor, with the complete unit mounted on a mobile trolley fitted with swivel wheels.
• The drive motor can be either fixed speed for a constant delivery, or variable speed using a frequency converter to adjust the
motor speed and pump output, to suit varying production requirements.
You can install a special level detector that transmits a modulating signal to the frequency converter, so that the pump speed is
automatically adjusted according to the incoming flow of liquid, or to stop the pump when there is no product.
For gentle product handling, speed changes occur gradually and in proportion to production conditions.

Lobe pumps
Transferring, filtering, cooling, and charging filling systems are all
operations in which the volumetric pumps offer high performance.
The shear sensitive action of the pump ensures that product quality
is not compromised.
Constant delivery and continuous flow are an optimal feature for this
type of application but in many cases there is the need to adapt the
delivery to the processing needs. Whenever there is the need to feed
a cooling system it is necessary to adapt flow to heat exchange.
When the product is transferred from storage to filling through filters
or heat exchanges it is necessary to face a series of several possible
problems due to stopping of the filling machine.
The feeding system consists of a lobe pump coupled to a variable speed gear
motor, with frequency inverter, microprocessor, signal detector and control panel.
This enables the acceleration or deceleration of the pump speed to be adjusted
according to specific application needs. The system allows the pump to be used
on a variety of different machines:
-PRESSURISED FILLING MACHINES
-GRAVITY TYPE FILLING MACHINES
-COOLERS & FREEZERS
The product is fed delicately without sudden starts and stops, within a preestablished acceleration and deceleration profile, thereby avoiding hammering and
sudden pressure variations. The microprocessor means that the signal sent by the
detectors can be received and modified, according to the parameters set by the
operator.
The frequency inverter controls the speed of the pump according to the modulated
signal sent by the microprocessor.
The pump controls are equipped with an electronic automation system. Therefore
this equipment can operate on virtually any type of fluid product transfer. Manual
adjustment of the pump speed can be achieved using a potentiometer.

Advantages of the system
The electronic delivery control system, widely used in Italian and foreign
cellars makes it possible to adjust rotation while keeping operating
pressure constant, an essential requirement for wines and sparkling wines
and an efficient functioning of the filtering apparatus. The advantages
of having a pump like this in one’s cellar is that it is not restricted to
filling only. The pump may also be used to charge cooling units in which
adjustment of delivery is carried out using the signal from the heat
exchanger’s probe by setting the required fluid’s temperature in advance.
Moreover, the pump is equipped with electronic automation systems
and therefore can operate on any type of product transfer with manual
adjustment of rotation speed by means of a potentiometer.
