The new course was designed by an Englishman and an Irishman,
Cecil Blandford and Peter Gannon. They used the natural contours of
the Chianti slopes to produce an outstanding course, threaded through
the indigenous vines, olive trees, maritime pines and broom. The course is not long, but demands a high degree of skill. The greens
are small and well defended by bunkers. The sloping fairways also present a great challenge. To play Ugolino is not just to indulge
in a game of golf, it is to wander through a landscape of great natural beauty, surrounded by olive and other fruit trees. It is an
unforgettable and uplifting experience. In his book “fifty places to play golf before you die”, the writer Chris Santella includes
Ugolino as one of the fifty.
THURSDAY 30 JUNE
09:00 Guided Day Tour to San Gimignano and Siena
You will be travelling through the Tuscan countryside on your way to visit the small walled Medieval town of San Gimignano,
also known as the Town of Fine towers. San Gimignano is famous for is medieval architecture. unique in the preservation of
about a dozen of its tower houses, which, with its hilltop setting and encircling walls form "an unforgettable skyline”. The
Historic Centre of San Gimignano, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town also is known for the white wine, Vernaccia di
San Gimignano, produced from the ancient variety of Vernaccia grape which is grown on the sandstone hillsides of the area and
is the only white wine produced in Tuscany. We continue onto Siena, with a stop in Poggibonsi, where a light lunch will be
served. Siena is famous for its cuisine, art, museums, medieval cityscape and the Palio, a horse race held twice a year. You will be
back at the Hotel in Florence by 17:00.

THURSDAY 30 JUNE
19.00 DINNER is the Tuscan country side.
Buses will leave from the Excelsior Hotel for a short ride into the Tuscan hills to the town of Artimino, where we will enjoy an
all-fresco dinner at a typical Tuscan Trattoria, with beautiful views of the country side and the historic Medici villa “La
Ferdinanda” Buses will return to the Hotel by 23:00
FRIDAY 1 JULY
DAY
Free to discover on your own the fabulous city of Florence, it’s world-famous Art museums, sites, restaurants and shops.
19:00 DINNER along the banks of the Arno River.
It is a short walk from the Excelsior Hotel to The Società Canottieri, the oldest
Rowing club of Florence (founded in 1886) and located along the banks of the
Arno, right next to the Uffizi and with a direct view onto the Ponte Vecchio.
This is truly one of the well hidden treasures to be found in the city of
Florence, and our Society is privileged to be allowed to enjoy this magical
place. We will have drinks on the terrace overlooking the river, followed by
dinner.

SATURDAY 2 JULY
HALF-DAY GUIDED WALKING TOUR 09.30 – 12.30
The Guide will collect the participants at the Excelsior hotel at 9:30 for a walking tour to some of the locations
less well known to tourists. You will be taken to the Church of Santa Maria Novella, including the Spanish
Chapel and Cloisters and also the new, recently opened fabulous museum. Inside the museum is the last work
by Michelangelo and the Mary Magdalen by Donatello as well as other masterpieces. Before lunch we will
make a stop at the oldest Pharmacy in the world, which was founded by the Medici family in 1612. At the end
of this tour your guide will take you to the Osteria Belle Donne, where you will have lunch.
19.30 for 20.00 RECEPTION and OFFICIAL BANQUET at the EXCELSIOR HOTEL
Black tie (Tuxedo) event in the magnificent Excelsior Hotel ballroom.
Welcome drinks, followed by dinner.
