Lunch Hosted to
Recognize Auto Loan
Team Performance
In order to celebrate the excellent performance of the
CBD Team Lahore (Auto Loan) for the month of April
2014, a Lunch was hosted in the honour of the
performers. The appreciation received by the team
further boosted their morale. The participants
assured the management of even better

EXERCISE FOR
WORK LIFE BALANCE
Recent research has found that regular exercise
reduces stress, which makes time at home and at
work more productive and enjoyable.
To add fitness to your schedule, try exercising before
your workday starts (it's so easy to find reason not
to exercise later in the day). High intensity interval
training workouts are effective and fast. Further, the
exercise keeps you healthy with better metabolism.
Start daily exercise and you will definitely feel the
difference.

Living the 9 To 5 Life - Work With Confidence
Confidence. is a state of mind and can be felt within. Though at times it is not always easy staying confident at work especially
on those hellish days when everything and anything that can go wrong, does go wrong.
Here are few tips to keep your confidence up.
Focus on the positive. It is very easy to get sucked in by past failures but success comes when you make that experience a
learning one.
Everything is not your responsibility. At times people take too much upon themselves and start feeling disheartened and
pressured. Learn to accept that everything is not under your control.
Paradigm Shift. when something is important to you, you feel that you are being assessed, watched to an extent
that can lead to paranoia. Try to remember that the focus is on what you are doing and not on you.
Convince Yourself. Believe it or not, no one knows you better than yourself. Believe in your abilities to get
a job done or in doing it better. You will naturally see a lift in your spirits, change in your mood, tone and
body language.
Strength, serenity and wisdom. Learn to keep a balance so that you can do things better.
Know the right time for aggressive, passive and assertive moods. Diverting and redirecting of
attention may help.
Appreciate. If you don’t know how to appreciate yourself, you won’t be able to appreciate others as well.
Celebrate your success- it helps in boosting self-esteem.

Monthly Information Security Bulletin
Online application process for Internet and External Email launched!
The joint project of the Lotus Notes team and Information Security Department to develop the online application system for
Internet and External Email has been successfully completed. This Lotus Notes based workflow system uses the Approval Levels
similar to the Attendance system, and is accessible from the “Public Folders” on the Home Page.
In addition to enabling convenient maintenance of applications and approvals, an important benefit of this online system is the
huge savings in terms of both senior level management time and the printing and other costs associated with paper forms. Now
users can easily complete these online forms as per their business requirements, and the requests will automatically and promptly
be delivered to the relevant managers for review and necessary recommendations/authorizations, before being submitted to
Information Security Department for security evaluation, approval and completing of the requests.
SECURITY ALERT!!!

Improving Security at BAHL:
Business Continuity Plan – Your Role
The BAHL Business Continuity Plan (BCP) describes the procedures to be
carried out in the event of a major incident affecting the operations of the
Bank or any of its departments or systems so that the impact on the ongoing
business services is minimized by efficient resumption of business
processes/functions.
At BAHL, the Board approved BCP Committee oversees the Bank’s BCP
program, and provides guidance and promotes the following drills:
• BCP drills
• DRP Drills
• Fire Evacuation Plans & Drills
BCP drills must be carried out on a quarterly basis by Bank
Branches/Divisions/Departments at their designated BCP sites to physically
test the facility and the BC arrangements. Drills with adequate staff (almost
50%) are mandatory. After the Drill, Units must complete the feedback form,
and provide their results and observations.
IT Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) relates to the IT Division, and DR drills are
necessary to check the availability of system/applications, network
connectivity and data in times of crises to assure readiness of all Bank AL
Habib business systems.
Fire evacuation plans & drills help ensure that staff are aware of the safest
evacuation option, and have tested these in preparation for fire or
environmental disasters.
We expect all division/departments and branches to ensure these drills in
true spirits quarterly. Every premises must submit fire drill Checklist to BCP
administration in soft file format.

Energy Saving Tips for Workplace and Home
Upgrade your home and office equipment. Certain models of computers, printers, copy machines, and other types of equipment
can use up to between 50 and 90 percent more energy than energy-efficient models.
•
Replace your home and office equipment with equipment that bears the "Energy Star" logo, which ensures that every
piece of equipment is made especially to reduce and save costs on energy usage.
•
Turn off electronics when not in use. Screen savers on computers and idle modes on other types of equipment will
still consume energy when not in use.
•
Plug all of your electronics into a single power strip that you can turn off every night. Electronics such as computers and
copy machines will still consume energy when they are plugged in although they have been turned off completely.
•
Enable the hibernation and sleep modes on your home and office computers. This will allow your computers to save energy
when you step away for breaks or meetings.
•
Take advantage of natural sunlight. If your home or office is set up to receive an ample amount of sunlight, you may be
able to turn off lights completely for the majority of your day.
•
Paint the walls of your home and office white or in another light shade to enhance the effect that the natural light has on
your workspace.
•
Install weather strips on doors and around windows. This will prevent air from escaping your home and office when the
air conditioner or heater is running; which can be especially important for locations in regions of severe weather.
•
Clean and repair your home and office's heating, venting, and air conditioning (HVAC) system on a routine basis. A clean
and working HVAC system will help largely reduce your energy bills, whereas a dirty or faulty HVAC system will work harder to
cool or heat your office.
•
Modify the temperature in the home and office when not in use. After office hours and during weekends, energy can be
saved by increasing the temperature of the thermostat during hot weather, and by lowering the temperature in cold weather.

Self Evaluation
Self-evaluation plays an important role in the overall
development of an individual. It is crucial for continuous self
improvement to judge oneself before being judged by the
others. It gives us the chance of coming across with our
strengths and weaknesses. Also, it gives us an opportunity
to improve the areas where efficiency is lacking. Such
positive attitude would cost us nothing but pays in the long
run and would not only be beneficial for oneself but for the
organization as a whole.
A little boy went into a drug store, reached for a soda carton
and pulled it over to the telephone. He climbed onto the
carton so that he could reach the buttons on the phone and
proceeded to punch in seven digits (phone numbers). The
store owner observed and listened to the conversation:
Boy: "Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?
Woman: (at the other end of the phone line): "I already
have someone to cut my lawn."
Boy: "Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price of the
person who cuts your lawn now."
Woman: “I'm very satisfied with the person who is
presently cutting my lawn”.
Boy: (with more perseverance) : "Lady, I'll even sweep
your kerb and your sidewalk, so on Sunday you will
have the prettiest lawn in all of Palm beach, Florida."
Woman: “No, thank you”.
With a smile on his face, the little boy replaced the receiver.
Store Owner: "Son... I like your attitude; I like that positive
spirit and would like to offer you a job".
Boy: "No thanks”
Store Owner: “But you were really pleading for one”.
Boy: ”No Sir, I was just checking my performance at the
job I already have. I am the one who is working for
that lady I was talking to!"
How often we evaluate ourselves? To be productive, we
need to take time and evaluate our performance ourselves
before it is being judged by others. Self-evaluation offers
every one of us a realistic chance of looking at our own self,
without any claims of prejudice or biasness. It may provide
us with some new information about ourselves, and
acquaint us with some facts that we were unaware of
earlier. Self-evaluation also helps in changing the role from
a passive observer to an active participant, which is a key
factor to succeed in our career and display a positive
attitude towards our jobs.
The store owner, who was listening to all
this, walked over to the boy.
