The colorful theme incorporates light anecdotes about growing
up keiki in Hawai‘i. The bilingual themed text, Hawaiian and
English, is a wonderful outline for parents to capture the essence
of first experiences, baby memories, and the special bond that
takes place between ‘ohana (family), keiki (children), and the
surrounding ‘ ina (land).

the time-honored
fairytale, “The Gingerbread Man.” The
ingenuity of the Musubi Man keeps him
alive throughout the book as he encounters danger. Charmingly told, the text
introduces Hawaiian words and the
illustrations are the sort that invite rereading because of so many sweet little
details tucked into every picture, making
readers look and laugh.
