Welcome to this seasons AdSec Newsletter, we
hope you are all enjoying your Summer and the
warm weather that (hopefully!) comes with it.
Despite the drizzle we hope you all made the
most of the wonderful festivities HRH’s
Diamond Jubilee had to offer. Of course this
Summer sees the momentous Olympic Games
held in London, which will has been transformed
into a huge sporting and cultural venue for the
Games, therefore we suggest you take advance
notice that there will be a number of sporting
events held across London’s road network.
The dates of these events likely to cause
congestion are on 28, 29 and 31 July; 1, 2, 4, 5, 7,
11 and 12 August and 9
September. Roads will be closed along the routes
at certain times and places. Many buses will also
be affected; full details will be available in July
on the TfL website and at affected bus stops.
Please be aware of the routes you are taking and
be aware of any possible changes because of the
events, so any adjustments to your journeys can
be made in advance where applicable.

Counter-Terrorism Advice
The National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) is a police
Unit funded by and reporting to the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO).
It has produced a document entitled Raise the Bar on Security, which provides
counter-terrorism security advice to those who own, operate, manage or work
in bars, pubs and nightclubs.
The document highlights the need for:
 Good housekeeping to reduce the opportunity for placing suspect packages
and to help deal with false alarms and hoaxes.
 Clear communication of evacuation responsibilities and roles and well
defined evacuation plans.
 CCTV to help clarify if a security alert is real and to assist in any
post-incident investigation.
 Reporting suspicious activity to combat terrorism

Non-Geographical Alternative Telephone Numbers
Awarded Website Of The Day by BBC Radio 2, and featured
on the BBC Radio 2's Jeremy Vine show and The Guardian.
We would like to highlight to our associates that companies using numbers
beginning with 0500, 0800, 0808, 0842, 0843, 0844, 0845, 0870, 0871, 0872 and
0873 which are all numbers that charge a certain amount for each call and
some companies may be taking a cut of the cost of the calls. We would suggest
visiting this site to make sure you’re in the know about the prices you could be
paying for your phone calls.
Childcare vouchers
It has come to our attention that some of our
employees are paying unnecessary tax on their
childcare and that we as a company can offer a
way of preventing this happening, through
childcare vouchers. This should reduce the
costs of your childcare and help pay less at
expensive times of the year, such as during
school holidays.
To find out whether you are eligible for the
vouchers, and they would benefit you please
visit: www.hmrc.gov.uk/calcs/ccin
A leaflet with all ranges of information about
the vouchers you receive, and how they can be
used is viewable at

A note from HR...
We have the right to expect that your conduct or performance at
work is not impaired by alcohol consumption or the misuse of
drugs. Even a mild intoxication is likely to result in a lower
standard of performance and an increase to the Health and Safety
risks in the workplace as judgement and concentration are
impaired, which can lead to accidents and even fatalities at
work. As part of our commitment to Health and Safety in the
workplace you are advised that the consumption of alcohol on
duty or reporting for work under the influence of alcohol is considered a serious disciplinary offence.
The use, possession or sale of illegal drugs at work or the
deliberate misuse of prescribed drugs and substances such as
solvents or currently non-controlled (in the UK) substances such
as Kat whilst at work is strictly prohibited and considered a serious disciplinary offence.
In order to safeguard the health and safety of the workforce the
Company reserves the right to carry out both random and
routine drug testing on its employees.
Some prescribed and over the counter medication can give rise
to side effects that could impair a person’s ability to operate
heavy plant and machinery, or could affect work performance.
You are advised that it is your responsibility to
ensure that you inform your line Manager if taking
prescribed medication is likely to have these
effects.
Worst Case Scenario, many of us do not consider what would happen should something unexpected occur in our lives, such as
illness or immobility, and even less thought as to who our employer would contact if we were unavailable. A recent scenario
showed that if you were unable to call anyone, and were in a situation where you could not gain help, then it is probable that
the first people to know you are missing is your employer. Therefore it is worthwhile for you to provide us with all emergency
contacts you have, including people who have access to your home address, so should anything happen to you, an alarm can be
raised sooner, and someone can find out if you are okay more quickly. I would suggest you provide your emergency contact
details to a security manager/patroller or alternatively email them to [email protected] or by post
to 14 Falcon Business Centre, Ashton Road, Romford, RM3 8UR.
These details are important and one day could help save your life!
Being professional is not just about doing our jobs correctly its also about looking professional.
People seeing us for the first time make up their minds about what they think of us in 8 seconds, if
you want to be treated with respect and authority then this is the image you must portray. What
would you think if you went to see your Doctor and they wearing a T shirt and shorts? I assume
you would think that they do not take their job seriously. So please be reminded that at all times
you must be wearing full uniform, as not doing so not only looks unprofessional but it makes the
company look slack too, and we all want to keep our jobs! So keep your shirts buttoned up, ties on
correctly, clothes washed, and make sure

AdSec proudly provided security guarding to Hertz Rent-a-Car
at their promotional day for their new car; the Nissan Leaf
recently at Victoria Station.
This is the first electric car provided for rental by Hertz and is
their entry in to the Eco Green market place, challenging the
rental industry to lower eco emissions within the industry.
Our guards manned the promotional stand for 24 hours
throughout the exhibition, to ensure no damage to the car and a
positive experience for all.
We would like to thank Hertz for the opportunity to work with
them at this landmark event for their company.
