The Six Rs At Ballacottier School we want to help our pupils become life long learners, caring and responsible citizens. Why the Six Rs? Developing the 6Rs and the associated skills will provide children with skills for life and learning that will transform and transcend their attitudes and behaviour both in and out of school. Be Find the information you are looking for Resilience We want our pupils to have the ability to • persevere • try to solve problems • accept constructive criticism •be adaptable and flexible Resilient Being resilient means “sticking at it”, even when things are really difficult! A resilient learner sticks at it has a positive attitude finds interest in what they are doing sets targets practises The Resilient Learner “I was resilient today. Have a go yourself and see if you can do it.” Year 1 boy, “Yes, I’ve done it ! ” REFLECTIVENESS People who don't think probably don't have Brains; rather, they have grey fluff that's blown into their heads by mistake . Poetry and Hums aren't things which you get, they're things which get you. And all you can do is to go where they can find you. The respectful learner: • pays attention to others • follows school rules • does all they can to be polite and helpful
