Our Mission
Lebanon Catholic School is a ministry of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg serving diverse
families of the Lebanon area. We provide a co-educational, spiritual learning environment
for students in grades K4-12. Students are encouraged to become life-long
disciples and learners through emphasis on prayer, worship, service,
and academic discipline. By sharing the mission of the
Church to guide, form, and teach as Jesus did,
we prepare our students to fulfill

Greetings
From the Principal
and Friends,
I would like to extend a warm welcome
and thanks to all of you from your
Mrs. Rose Kury
Lebanon Catholic School Family. Many
new initiatives have been made possible through your generosity
over the past year.
We have opened a full-day Pre-Kindergarten program this year with
a waiting list at the start of school. Late registrations, however,
prohibited the opening of a second Pre-Kindergarten class for this
school year. The Pre-Kindergarten program will have the capability
to educate 42 students for the 2013-2014 school year. A maximum
of 21 children can be admitted to each class. Currently, we offer
the option of having children in the morning session or a full-day
option. Early registration will take place during Catholic Schools
Week for the start of 2013-2014 school year. To save a spot for the
2013-2014 school year please contact our Development Director,
Lori Kostow at 273-3731 Ext. 327.

As we look towards the bright horizon which awaits Lebanon
Catholic School, I want to thank you for your contributions and
prayers. Many gifts have been bestowed onto Lebanon Catholic
School in so many ways. This annual report is only one reflection
of this fact. As we move forward to continue the tradition of
excellence in education, please know how grateful we are to all of
you for your commitment to improving our school and learning at
Lebanon Catholic School.
As always, I thank you for your continued support and prayers.

News From Our School
Dear Alumni and Friends of
Lebanon Catholic,
We are so very grateful to those of you
who have been so generous to date. Last
year’s Annual Appeal raised over $37,000, quite an accomplishment
in light of difficult times experienced by so many. As our
enrollment continues to grow, I become more inspired each day to
help Lebanon Catholic access more and more resources to expand
our school’s scholarship and fundraising efforts.
Mrs. Lori Kostow
Won’t you, as a proud alumnus, alumna or friend of Lebanon
Catholic, consider contributing to Lebanon Catholic’s Annual
Appeal and become a “difference maker” in the lives of our
students whom we impact greatly to grow into caring, loving
Catholics of future generations? Your gift will set a wonderful
example to them and make a direct impact on their lives.
If you ever have questions regarding any donation that you may
be considering, please contact me personally at (717) 273-3731,
ext. 327 or at [email protected]. I also invite
you to visit the www.lebanoncatholicschool.org website to keep
in touch with our L.C. Community!
Continued blessings to you as you prayerfully consider our
request. †

1976 – Steve Weirich, president of RW Motorsports in
Schwenksville, PA and his United States Auto Club race team,
which fielded cars in the Silver Crown, Mopar Midget and
Sprint Cup series, took the 2012 championship crown once
again in the Hoosier 100 at Indianapolis on Memorial Day
weekend. This race is the most coveted race in the Silver
Crown circuit and his team has won it the last two years.
Back in its day Lebanon Catholic School had one of the richest
football histories in the mid-state. It’s time that we come together
to celebrate that history, reconnect, and share a few laughs. We are
in the infancy stages of assembling a LCHS Football Reunion
Committee to plan a reunion party in 2013. The party will include
past players, coaches, cheerleaders, parents, spouses and
supporters of the LCHS football program. We’re looking for
volunteers to help fill the gap of missing alumni and assist in the
planning of this event. If you’re interested in helping out, please
contact Lori Kostow at (717) 273-3731, ext. 327 or

2007 – Rachel Hains graduated on May 29, 2012 from Towson
University in Baltimore, MD with a Masters of Science Degree
in Occupational Therapy.
2009 – A.J. Groy was one of the writers, producers and
directors of “Empty Pages,” a 5-minute film which was
awarded Best Story at the 2012 Campus Moviefest
International Grand Finale, the world’s largest student film
festival in Hollywood, CA on June 23, 2012. Nearly 1,000
student filmmakers from 100 participating campuses attended
the event, with award-winning films showcased throughout
the festival. A.J. is a senior at LaSalle University, and this is
the team’s second consecutive year to win LaSalle’s regional
competition and make it out to LA for the final international
competition. “Empty Pages” also made it to the TOP 16 out of
nearly 1,000 student films this year. In addition to A.J.’s
creative force behind the making of the film, the success of
“Empty Pages” is also credited to fellow LaSalle students:

Retirement
On June 6th, 2012 beloved faculty
members Mrs. Catherine Anderson and
Mrs. Katherine Clark retired from
Lebanon Catholic after serving 45 years
and 39 years respectively. Both teachers
have toyed with the idea of retiring for a
few years, but when it came time to
planning their favorite classroom project,
they would change their minds.
The Office of Development is excited to launch the Lebanon
Catholic Business Connection, an association for businesses of
alumni, past and present parents and friends to share business
information and to find products and services. We are pleased to
offer the new Business Directory and Discount Program on
Lebanon Catholic School’s website: lebanoncatholicschool.org.
If you or your business is interested in participating in this
directory, please contact the Office of Development via e-mail:

a registration form from the school’s website. There is no cost to
become a member.

Service Award for his
many years of service
and volunteerism in the
Lebanon Valley.
Fifty years ago, Sister Margaret Bender, OSF, joyfully answered
“yes!” to God’s call to become a Sister of Saint Francis and dedicate
herself to the religious life. An alumna of LCHS in 1959, she has since
served God’s people in many ways such as teaching, healing ministry
and sharing her angelic voice during Mass and religious services.
Thank you for 50 years of your never-ending love, fidelity and
compassion!
A 1965 LCHS alumna, Sister Eileen McGowan, DM was presented
with a trip to Italy at the end of the 2012 school year by her faculty
and staff, PTO, and parents in recognition to her 25 years of service to
Saint Joan of Arc School. Her life bears witness to the daily unfolding
of her love that she shared with her students and school community.

your Giant Bonuscard number. Beginning on October 7, 2012 through
March 30, 2013, Lebanon Catholic School will have the opportunity to earn
CASH through this exciting program. After you designate our school, each
shopping trip at a participating Giant store using your BONUSCARD earns
CASH for our school. Each month, the amount
of CASH awarded is updated on the GIANT and
Lebanon Catholic School websites. The money
earned can be used for any of our school’s
education needs.
You can:
•Email your BONUSCARD number to Mrs. Lori Kostow @

Golf balls galore! On Sunday, August 19th the
Lebanon Catholic Athletic Association successfully held their annual golf classic at
Royal Oaks Golf Club. Thanks to all of the
golfers, alumni, parents, hole and cart
sponsors, over $5,300 in proceeds were
raised from this well-attended event.
Barbara Speck, a 1951 LCHS alumna struck it
rich when her numbered ball landed in the
hole for the golf ball drop raffle. That lucky
golf ball earned her over $1,400.00!
