most visited museum in Germany as a whole.
The Topography of Terror (German: Topographie des Terrors) is an outdoor and indoor history museum in
Berlin, Germany. It is located on Niederkirchnerstrasse, formerly Prinz-Albrecht-Strasse, on the site of
buildings which during the Nazi regime from 1933 to 1945 were the headquarters of the Gestapo and
the SS, the principal instruments of repression during the Nazi era.
The German Historical Museum (Deutsches Historisches Museum) is
a museum in Berlin devoted to German history and defines itself
as a place of enlightenment and understanding of the shared
history of Germans and Europeans. It is often viewed as one of
the most important museums in Berlin and is one of the most
frequented.

The museum's main emphasis originally was on rail transport, but today it also features exhibits of
various sorts of industrial technology.
In 2003, it opened both maritime and aviation exhibition halls in a newly-built extension. The museum

o Spend a day on Museum Island - at the eastern end of Unter den Linden is Museum
Island, a UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site lying in the middle of the Spree. It’s
home to five of Berlin’s most important museums.
o Walk the Berlin Wall - visit Checkpoint Charlie, the famous east-west border control
during the Cold War and now a tourist centre, for comprehensive display boards
telling the Wall’s story. For more of a visual history, take a walk along the Wall by the
Spree, where it runs between the Freidrichshain-Kreuzberg districts.
o Tackle Europe’s largest department store - Friedrichstraße is the street for big name
designer stores as well as KaDeWe, Europe's largest department store, which offers a
fantastic range for those with a larger budget.
