TODAY’S MESSAGE
We are treated to a long weekend this week since Labor Day falls on Monday. But wait - that means that summer is
nearly over! How can that be? It seems that it started just a short time ago! It really went by in a flash for me this year. I
hope that you too had a chance to take some time off to rest and enjoy the good weather. It is important that we do not
take these gifts for granted. Our readings today speak of humility. Let us have the humility to recognize our dependence
on God and our poverty without him. Let us remember that we owe him our life, health, family, work, and all the good
things that bring joy to our existence. I invite you to look back at your summer and remember what brought you the most
joy during that season. Then, give thanks to the Lord for having brought them or kept them into your life.

YOUTH GROUP KICK-OFF
TEENS -- Don't forget, next weekend is our first Youth
Group meeting of the year!!! Invite a friend, and plan to
come! Join us on September 8 for the 6 p.m. youth
mass, then come to Youth Group at the Extended Care
room on the side of the gym that faces the rectory. Youth
Group runs until 8:20 p.m. Parents, please pick up your
child at 8:20 at the Extended Care room. For questions
or more information, please contact Colleen Vandevoorde, or call the rectory office. We hope to see you all
there!
RCIA
"Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations, " Jesus told
us. Do you know of someone interested in joining the Catholic
faith? A friend, a neighbor or perhaps even your spouse? How
great is it to help spread the Good News and bring someone
into our community, be part of the People of God? Or perhaps
you are baptized Catholic but have not received your
Sacrament of Confirmation? On Sept. 17th (Tue) 7pm, we'll
start this year's RCIA process with an "Introduction GetTogether".
There is no pressure to join - just information,
questions & answers. If you are thinking of becoming Catholic,

Dear Parishioners,
It is with pleasure that I present to you a comparative financial report of St
Cyprian Church for the fiscal year 2012-2013. As you know, the finances of our parish
are overseen by our Finance Committee. I rely on this committee for guidance and
direction and I am thankful for their stewardship of our donations. I am also thankful for
the leadership of Desire Andjou, who chairs our Committee.
I am pleased to report to you that we finished the fiscal year ended with a slight
surplus of $1000(?), after depreciation expenses. This surplus is attributed to some
generous donations, spending less and rebate from the 2013 Annual Diocesan
Appeal. Through your support of the ADA, we received a refund of $25k(?) over our
diocesan goal; money which we use for the diocesan cathedraticum.
In my prayer, I ask God to give us guidance and to show us the right path. We, as
His people, build up His reign here at St. Cyprian. I am thankful to you for your
generous support of me and your financial gifts to our parish. You allow God to work
through you to accomplish His wonderful works. Be assured of my prayers for you.
