A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Deer Park Families,
As we head into March, the PTA is making final preparations for some of our
biggest events of the school year!





We hope you join us for skate night on Friday, February 27th. 100% of the ticket
sales come back to the PTA, so this is a great way to support the PTA and have
some fun with the whole family!
The annual Deer Park Golf Tournament will be held on Sunday, March 1st. This
will be a morning of golf and fun with great contests and prizes. Did you know a
portion of the proceeds will benefit the PE Department at Deer Park AND at Just
Elementary? Just is a Title I school with critical shortage of PE funds (and the
last school Coach Simsic taught at before coming to DPE!) . So…pick up those
golf clubs, grab your checkbook, and join us for a great day of golf and giving.
One of my personal favorite events you won’t find on any calendar. Conference
Night dinner is held for all our teachers and staff on March 4th. It’s wonderful
to be able to brighten a teacher’s 12 hour day with a nice dinner, and the PTA is
honored to host. We are always looking for parents to help donate food, serve,
and set up/clean up. I’d love to have you join us! This is also the night of our
beautiful Art Show, so make sure to visit the cafeteria and see what our students
have learned from Ms. Martin all year long!
March Madness will be on Friday, March 6th at Farnell Middle School. Our 5th
graders will battle it out with all of our favorite teachers in a game you DON’T
want to miss!
Ranger Round Up! It’s almost here…our biggest and BEST event of the year!
Mark your calendars for March 20th and join us for a night of games,
inflatables, book fair, food trucks, music, and more!

Year- books are available for sale now. If you have taken pictures this school year,
but haven’t uploaded them yet, or you want to place a fully customized ad in the

beautiful yearbook full of great memories.

March Madness is almost here! Join us

grade students face off
with the faculty in a fun
-filled basketball game.
Catch all of the excitement
with your Deer Park students, friends and families as both teams
vie for the championship title. And don’t
miss the Penny Wars Finale! Take advantage of your final
chance to “vote” for your
favorite fifth grade class by
strategically donating your
change to the various class
jars. Half-time entertainment will be provided by
Webby Cheer. Soda, water
and food from Westchase
Pizza, Kona Ice and our own fifth grade
family bakers will be available for purchase.
SPIRIT STICK NEWS
Our NEXT spirit stick sale will be on FRIDAY, MARCH 27th at 7:25 in
the courtyard. Presale order forms will be available on our website on
March 16th March 23rd with delivery on March 26th.

DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE A SUCCESS
4:30—7:30 pm
The PTA wanted to acknowledge the volunteers and staff that helped
make the Daddy Daughter Dance a success! First off, thanks to Holly
Hineman and Susan Dickson for making the dance look so beautiful. Cliff
Fouts, thanks for the always excellent DJ skills! Thanks to Pam Trezza for
setting up the free keepsake photos, and to Kelly Szarek, Suzanne Lowe
and Darla Hoffman for their endless energy in the Photo room. Thanks to
Manuel and his night custodians for their help throughout the evening.
Heather Jennings, Lauren Simsic, Kristen Barrett, Kim Desmet, Sirrena
Drummond, Laurie Kawula, Diana El-Qasses, Regan Quick and anyone I
forgot, THANK YOU for setting up and serving during the dance. A spe- cial
thank you to our front office staff, Sickles and Farnell volunteers, and
parents that donated food. Mrs. Porebski and Mr. Findley, without you,
none of our events would be possible, so thank you for your endless support of the PTA. Last but not least, thanks to ALL of the beautiful couples
that attended our Daddy Daughter Dance.

ARE YOU READY FOR SKATE NIGHT?
Join us on Friday, February 27th for Deer Park Skate Night at
Skate World! The Frozen themed party will be from 6:00 8:00 pm. Admission is $6 including skate rental, or $3 if you
bring your own skates. Skate World will donate $3 per skater
back to Deer Park.
The Frozen characters will be there, plus games and fun! But
wait, there’s more! All students attending will receive a special
SPIRIT STICK!! Come join the fun!
We will be holding a Sock Drive
during Skate Night to collect children’s socks for Oasis Network, an outreach program providing
basic necessities for underprivileged children in the
Hillsborough County School District. Anyone who donates two
pairs of socks (new only, please will received an additional spirit
stick!
RANGER ROUND UP IS AROUND THE CORNER
Mark Friday, March 20th on your calendar and join us for the most fun you’ll have all
year! Unlimited Wristbands for $25, tickets sold in $5 increments, and family sponsorships will be available again this year. The courtyard, covered and uncovered courts,
and cafeteria will be full of booths and fun! Inflatables in the field, Scholastic Book
Fair in the library, and great food provided by local food trucks.

FREE HAPPINESS
YES- that’s what you get in return for giving of yourself by
volunteering! Not only that, but your children LOVE to see you
at school and what a great way to meet the people that your child
spends each day with. We have LOTS of PTA events in February
and March and the more hands we have, the merrier the “work”
will be.
We will need many people on Friday, March 20th for our annual
carnival, Ranger Round Up! Stay tuned for sign-up lists!
The Book Fair is coming to Deer Park!!
We have two night times that you can visit the Book Fair with your
child. If you can't make it to a night event, your child will be able to
purchase books during the school day. Here are the days and times the
Book Fair will be open. We will be open from 7:30 AM - 1:00 PM on
March 16th. We will also be open the night of the Internet Safety Talk
on March 17th, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Then we will be open from 7:30 AM to 3 PM on
March 18th and 19th. On March 20th, we will be open from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM. Stop by
and see us during Ranger Round Up!!
KEEP YOUR CHILD SAFE WHILE ONLINE!
Join us March 17th at 6:30PM in the Multi-Purpose Room for an informative session on internet safety. There will be a session for both
students and parents so bring your children as we all learn how to be
safe while we are online.
FREE SERVICE HOURS
Do you have a responsible high-schooler who needs to earn service
hours for school clubs or graduation? We would LOVE to have them at
Ranger Round-Up to take shifts at various booths. Please contact Suzanne

The Deer Park Elementary PTA puts on the annual Deer
Park Golf Scramble fundraiser which features a morning
of golf, a tasty lunch, a chance at prizes, gift basket
auction, goodie bags and lots of camaraderie among
friends and business associates. The event is Sunday,
March 1, 2015 at The Eagles Golf Course.
This fundraiser supports the mission of Deer Park Elementary, "To maximize student potential and provide them with the knowledge,
skills, and character necessary for the 21st Century." and more specifically the P.E.
program, with 10% of the funds raised going to a Title 1 school in the Hillsborough
County School District. Whether you choose to play in the scramble, sponsor a hole,
or be a sponsor by providing goods and services from your business, we want to say
thank you for supporting the children of Deer Park Elementary.
