A new and glorious chapter was added to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mehta Vidyalaya’s modernisation and expansion endeavours with the inauguration of the new building – Madhav Prasad­ Priyamvada Birla Sadan on 7 July, 2016. A special programme was arranged to usher in this new phase auspiciously in the life of the institution. The programme commenced with the Ganesh Vandana rendered by the school choir followed by the ribbon cutting and inauguration by the Chief Guest, Prof Lokesh Chandra, President, ICCR and Chairman, Nehru Memorial Museum & Library.Guest of Honour on the occasion was Shri Harsh Vardhan Lodha, Chairman, Madhav Prasad Priyamvada Birla Apex Charitable Trust. Floral tributes were paid by the Chief Guest and the dignitaries assembled to the portraits of Shri Madhav Prasad and Smt Priyamvada Birla. A hawan was performed to invoke God’s blessings for a new and auspicious beginning.
A formal function was organised in the Munshi Memorial Hall on the occasion. The programme began with the Sarva Dharam Prayer sung by the school choir. Prof Lokesh Chandra, Chief Guest was welcomed by Dr (Smt) AnjuTandon, Principal, MehtaVidyalaya with a bouquet. This was followed by felicitation of other dignitaries on the dais by the Principal.
In his welcome address, Shri Ashok Pradhan, Director, BVB, Delhi Kendra thanked Shri Harsh VardhanLodha, Chairman, Madhav PrasadPriyamvada Birla Apex Charitable Trust for contributing financial assistance for the new building. He expressed deep felt gratitude to Shri J Veeraraghavan, former Director, BVB, Delhi Kendra for facilitating assistance for the project. He also expressed his heart felt gratitude to Prof Lokesh Chandra for his cooperation and continued blessings.
In his address, Shri Harsh Vardhan Lodha termed today as an important day in the continued relationship between BVB and the Birla group. He expressed his pleasure that this was a legacy carried forward from strong past associations. He felt that the philanthropic aspect of his group was well served as this project is linked to education and service to society. Km Surrender Saini, Chairperson, Mehta Vidyalaya welcomed and complimented everyone associated with the project. She praised the hard work put in by teachers of Mehta Vidyalaya in providing quality education with emphasis on moral values. Shri J Veeraraghavan spoke about the deep rooted association that Bhavan had with the Birla’s and congratulated and thanked everyone associated with the project.
The Chief Guest, Prof Lokesh Chandra enunciated that Bhavan is a place where values are valued. He felt that the hawan consecrated the spirit of Kulpati K M Munshi, the founding father of BVB. He congratulated Bhavan for the beautiful building and hoped that one day Bhavan will take the lead in developing cutting edges of scientific thoughts. He expressed his hope that with the presence of Munshiji’s spirit and the support of Birla Trust something great will definitely be in the making.
The programme came to an end with the proposal of the vote of thanks by the Principal, Dr (Smt) AnjuTandon and prasad distribution.
The following are the salient features of the newly inaugurated building ­ a digital Multimedia Language Learning Centre has been added with an interactive language platform to help students become proficient in language. Another new addition is the fully high tech Maths lab to make learning impactful, interactive and a fun filling experience. A new Senior Computer lab is ready for use in the new building. A high tech digital Science lab has been added, as also a new state­of­the­art Dance room with wooden floor and glass fitments. Modern Nursery & K G blocks, a spacious library and new modular laboratories are in the making. The new building caters for Rain Water Harvesting.
With all these modern expansions, it is envisaged that the technology savvy environment will give a fillip to the quality of education in our school.
