My Dear Sisters and Brothers:
Remember that we have the opportunity to get closer to the Lord by just visiting the Most Blessed Sacrament in
the Chapel. You can become more familiar with the Lord in adoration, and He can be with you during your stay
in His presence without any worry that you are wasting your time. The chapel is open so that you can visit God,
speak to Him, tell Him your plans, your troubles. Can we not spend one hour with God?
I pray that if you are new to fasting you recall the purpose of fasting. Fasting is to control the body’s senses that
crave the things of this world and often to an excess. Remember that “we eat in order to live and not live in order
to eat.” In the gospel it tells us that Jesus our Savior fasted. Fasting makes us humble, sensitive to the needs of
others and helps our prayers to be heard.
St. Padre Pio has many quotes that could help us during Lent:
“Prayer is the best weapon we have; it is the key to God's heart. You must speak to Jesus not only with your lips,
but with your heart. In fact on certain occasions you should only speak to Him with your heart.”

Rezo que si usted es nuevo al ayuno que usted recuerde el objetivo del ayuno. El ayuno debe controlar los
sentimientos del cuerpo que ansían las cosas de este mundo y a menudo a un exceso. Recuerde que
“comemos a fin de vivir y no vivimos a fin de comer.” En el evangelio, nos dice que Jesús nuestro Salvador
ayuno. El ayuno nos hace humildes, sensibles a las necesidades de otros y ayuda a que nuestras oraciones
sean escuchadas.

Protecting God’s Children – VIRTUS
Preventing child sexual abuse is the goal of the Archdiocesan
Safe Environment Office. “Protecting God’s Children’s” is the
program selected by the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston to
educate clergy, staff, and volunteers who work with children and
youth about child sexual abuse and the ways to create a safe
environment for children. The 3-hour live session includes videos
and facilitated discussions that focus on the prevention of abuse
and the protection of children. Adults learn how to recognize the
warning signs of sexual abuse and to respond appropriately. You
will learn about steps that the faith community can take to create a
safe environment for all God’s children and how to respond when
adults behave in a way that raises concerns.
A “Protecting God’s Children” workshop will be held at
St. Andrew Catholic Church
on March 5, 2016 at 9:00am
(must report 30 min early to check-in).
All attendees must have one of the following documents: current
Driver’s license (any state), State-issued Identification Card,
Passport (any country), Mexico or Guatemala Consulate ID in
order to attend a “Protecting God’s Children” Workshop. When
pre-registering for the class, YOU MUST USE YOUR NAME and
DATE OF BIRTH as it appears on your DL, ID, or Passport.

Protegiendo a los Niños de Dios
Programa de VIRTUS
Prevenir el abuso sexual de los niños es la meta del programa
VIRTUS seleccionado por la Arquidiócesis de Galveston Houston.
“Protegiendo los niños de Dios para adultos” educa al clero,
personal y voluntarios que trabajan con niños, sobre el abuso
sexual de niños y las maneras de crear un ambiente seguro para
los niños. La sesión de 3 horas incluye videos y platicas
facilitadas que se centran en la prevención del abuso y la
protección de niños. Los adultos aprenden cómo reconocer los
signos y los indicios de que un adulto es un posible peligro para
los niños y cómo saber que están abusando o explotándolos de
cierta manera. Usted aprenderá qué medidas puede tomar la
comunidad de fe para crear un ambiente seguro para todos los
niños de Dios y cómo responder cuando los adultos se comportan
de una manera sospechosa.
Se requiere que el clero, el personal y los voluntarios (mayores
de 18 años) que tienen contacto regular con los niños y los
jóvenes asistan al entrenamiento. A los demás adultos se les
invita y anima a que participen como parte del compromiso de la
iglesia de hacer del mundo un lugar seguro para todos nuestros
niños.
El taller “Protegiendo a los Niños de Dios” se llevara a cabo en
San Andrés el 27 de Febrero, 2016, a las 9:00am
(debe llegar 30 min antes).
Todos los asistentes deben presentar uno de los siguientes
documentos vigentes como identificación: licencia de conducir
emitida por cualquier estado de los Estados Unidos, tarjeta de
identificación emitida por cualquier estado de los Estados Unidos,
Pasaporte de cualquier país, Matricula Consular Mexicana o ID
del Consulado de Guatemala. Su nombre completo y fecha de
nacimiento de su registración de Virtus debe coincidir con en su
identificación.

a couple. We offer enrichment sessions, consulting and mentoring
for married couples experiencing some crisis or challenges in

Quinceañeras, Anniversaries,
Family Reunions, Birthday Parties, or any event you are
planning, we can accommodate you! St. Andrew Family
Life Center is continuing to have a LIMITED TIME rental
special! Rentals include: 10 hour rental time on Fridays
& Saturdays; seating up to 360 people reception style
with dance floor; stage for a band or DJ; cleaning &
storage of personal items after the event; a list of
preferred vendors to hire (we've done the research for
you); and so much more! With everything above
included, half hall rentals start at $1500 and whole
rentals start at $2500! Registered & Contributing
Parishioners always receive a discount off this low
competitive rate. We also have the Parish Hall available
to rent for your smaller events such as baby showers,
bridal showers, birthdays, graduations, etc. For more
