Del Padre Michael Shanahan, nuestro párroco
We have been immensely blessed with Our Lady of Lourdes
Parish and the many other parishes in the Archdiocese of Chicago. The many ministries within our parishes have vigorously served the mission of Christ for many years. This is
why we are joining with all other archdiocesan parishes in
a campaign by invitation of Archbishop Blase Cupich.
This campaign is given the name To Teach Who Christ Is.
The goal is that the entire archdiocese raise $350 million
from all the parishes combined. One purpose of the campaign is to ensure the vitality of Catholic education
throughout the archdiocese for many years to come. A major
portion of the funds will be used for scholarships for Catholic students. The second purpose is to strengthen each individual parish
Each parish is asked to raise an amount that is equal to 1.3
times the normal income from our Sunday collections on an
annual basis. Thus, the overall goal for our parish is approximately $ 405,000. The funds that we raise in our parish will be
divided. That is, 40% goes to the archdiocese and 60% comes
back to Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. This means that about
$243,000 will go to the parish and $162,000 will go to the archdiocese. The campaign will officially begin in Summer 2016.
At that time, you will hear much more about this campaign. So
why am I bringing this up right now?
I am working with the Parish Pastoral Council to determine
the most important needs within our parish. How would we
plan to use the amount of $243,000. I hope to find some consensus as to how to use these funds. I have included a list of
important parish projects below in this article. We want to
know your opinion of the most important needs. We ask that
you take a look at this list and decide on the top THREE most
important projects in your opinion. We are going to take this
survey today at all the masses.
Please look in the pew where you are seated and you will
find a sheet that lists these same projects that are listed below.
We ask that you place a check mark near the three projects that
you believe are the most important projects for us to work on.
Please leave your survey at the end of the pew after you have
filled it out. It will be collected by members of the Parish Pastoral Council. We have also provided small pencils in the
pews. Here are the potential projects. Please choose THREE
projects that you think are the most important.
Somos inmensamente bendecidos en la Parroquia de Lourdes
y en muchas parroquias de la Arquidiócesis de Chicago. Los
numerosos ministerios en las parroquias han revigorizado

Repair walls /ceiling and paint the entire church
Reinforce the outside brick walls and paint near the
Blessed Virgin Mary statue at the east side of the sanctuary
Redesign and upgrade church bathrooms
Technology for Religious Education classrooms
Upgrade lighting in church (lights frequently burn out
due to old fixtures)
Repair locks on church doors
Repair potholes and resurface church parking lot
Replace Fire Alarm Emergency system in school
( this is High Priority)
New floor in school cafeteria
Refinish pews

THE DAYTIMERS
