AMEN
Take a look around the walls of your church. Even if it’s only a
year or two old, the word “Amen” has resounded off those
walls countless times at the conclusion of the Eucharistic Prayer
and as the faithful have come forward to receive the Body and
Blood of Christ. Today’s feast is about those “Amens” offered in
faith, offered in times of trouble or doubt, spoken in joy, spoken
mindlessly, but all given to God in a multitude of ways. It is our
very lives that lie behind our “Amens” and are touched by the
presence of Christ, the presence we celebrate today. More
importantly, we celebrate the love of Christ for us shown in the
sacrifice on Calvary and that he continues to give to us in every
celebration of the Eucharist. What can we do but rejoice in that
great love, and then go out into the world and live that love in
sacrificing for others?

CREMATION … as Catholics, we have permission of the church
to be cremated … the procedure for the funeral is: WAKE
SERVICE WITH THE BODY, FUNERAL MASS WITH THE
BODY, CREMATION and burial as soon as possible after the
cremation … we should not save the ashes at home, bring them
to the beach or the mountains or leave them in the funeral home
… the ashes are to be treated with respect and dignity like a
body and be buried as soon as possible after the cremation.
PARKING LOTS … are crowded on Sundays --- both Purdy
Street and Castle Hill Avenue … we ask your cooperation and
consideration in using all of the parking spots and not taking
two spots for one car.
BAPTISMS … Catholics should have their children baptized
and brought into the church as new members … a parent needs
to come to the rectory with the birth certificate to make
arrangements … a parent need to be registered in the parish and
coming to church on Sundays … god parents need to be
practicing Catholics who have received their sacraments and, if
married, married in the Catholic Church … baptism is not an
excuse for a family reunion or a party … it is a formal, serious
initiation into the church by the parents and the godparents for
the child … welcome and then have a party!
SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY … are you scared to make the
commitment? … speak with one of the priests and, perhaps, we
can help you … are you married civilly? … speak with one of
the priests and, perhaps, we can help you … not sure? … speak

PARISH REGISTRATION … you should register in the rectory
to receive your envelopes, parish mailings and other important
letters … if you are over 18, you should register with your own

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS … you might consider
purchasing a niche in our Garden of Hope section in the
cemetery these niches are for cremains and this is a new section
that has just be completed and opened … call the cemetery for
an appointment to see the Garden … also, a reminder to arrange
your funeral plans … very often there is confusion and conflict
at the time of a death and pre-arrangements make sense for
everyone involved at a difficult time.

WEAR! … Please remember that you are in church, in holy
place and that there is a dress code that is presentable to the
Lord! Please look in the mirror so that you see what the priest
sees from the altar!
MAKING ALL THINGS NEW … the final report from our
cluster group (Santa Maria, St. Dominic/Our Lady of Solace, St.
Helena, St. Raymond and St. Anthony) was submitted to the
Advisory Committee … it will be reviewed by this group of
about 40 priests, religious and laypeople, then submitted to the
Priests’ Council and finally to the Cardinal in July for his
consideration and decision-making … he will announce his
decisions in September and they will be gradually implemented
… we anticipate closings of parishes, consolidations and an
emphasis on collaboration among parishes … our cluster has
recommended that our five parishes remain as is and
collaborate on such issues as youth ministry, adult religious
education and building management … that is what we have
suggested --- let’s see what develops!

CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION … today after the 12 noon
Mass … we will conclude with Benediction of the Blessed
Sacrament … the procession is a centuries old tradition to honor
Jesus in the Eucharist and to ask His blessings upon the people
of the area as the procession goes by their homes and businesses
… join us for the procession and the Benediction … thank you to
Father Brogan for organizing this event and thank you to our
men for carrying the canopy of the Blessed Sacrament.
TRIP TO IRELAND MEETING … today … at 1:30 pm after the
procession in the Flynn Room … all pilgrims should try to
attend.
NO 7 AM MASS … beginning Monday, June 30 there will be no
weekday Mass at 7:00 am until after Labor Day … please mark
your calendars for this change in the Mass schedule for the
summer.

Raymond Nonnatus --- with a bi-lingual Mass on Sunday,
August 31 at 12 noon followed by a reception in the Gym …

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEW BISHOPS … Pope
Francis has named 3 new auxiliary bishops to the Archdiocese
WHY GO TO CHURCH?
A Church goer wrote a latter to the editor of a newspaper
and complained that it made no sense to go to church every
Sunday … “I’ve gone for 30 years now, “ he wrote, “ and in
that time I have heard something like 203,000 sermons. But
for the life of me, I can’t remember a single one of them. So,
I think I’m wasting my time and the pastors are wasting
theirs by giving sermons at all.”
This started a real controversy in the “Letters to the
Editor” column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on
for weeks until someone wrote this clincher.
“I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife
has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I
cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals.
But I do know this...They all nourished me and gave me the
strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given
me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise,
if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be
spiritually dead today!” When you are DOWN to nothing…
God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the
incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our
physical AND our spiritual nourishment! “When Satan is
knocking at your door, simply say, “Jesus, could you get that
for me?”

VESTIMENTA DE VERANO ... la ropa de iglesia los domingos
no es ROPA DE PLAYA! ... por favor, recuerde que usted está
en la iglesia, en un lugar santo y que hay un código de
vestimenta que es presentable al Señor! Por favor mirar en el
espejo para que pueda ver lo que el sacerdote ve desde el altar!
HACIENDO TODAS LAS COSAS NUEVAS ... el informe final
de nuestro grupo de clústeres (Santa María, St. Dominic/
Nuestra Señora del Consuelo, Santa Elena, San Ramón y San
Antonio) se presentó a la Comisión Consultiva ... el informe será
revisado por este grupo de unos 40 sacerdotes, religiosos y
laicos, luego será presentado al Consejo de Padres y finalmente
al cardenal en julio para su consideración y decisiones ... él
anunciará sus decisiones en septiembre y serán implementadas
gradualmente ... anticipamos cierres de parroquias,
consolidaciones y un énfasis en la colaboración entre las
parroquias ... nuestro grupo ha recomendado que nuestras cinco
parroquias permanezcan tal cual y que colaboren en cuestiones
como la pastoral juvenil, la educación religiosa de adultos y el
manejo de los edificios ... eso es lo que hemos sugerido --¡vamos a ver lo que se desarrolla!

PROCESIÓN DE CORPUS CHRISTI ... hoy, después de la misa
de las 12 del mediodía ... que concluirá con la Bendición del
Santísimo Sacramento ... la procesión es una tradición
centenaria en honor a Jesús en la Eucaristía y pedimos la
bendiciones de Jesús sobre la gente del área como la procesión
pasa por sus casas y negocios ... únase a nosotros para la
procesión y la bendición ... gracias al Padre Brogan por
organizar este evento y gracias a nuestros hombres por llevar la
cánope del Santísimo Sacramento.
REUNION PARA EL VIAJE A IRLANDA ... hoy ... a las 1:30 pm
después de la procesión en el Salón Flynn ... todos los
peregrinos deben tratar de asistir.
NO MISA A LAS 7 AM ... comenzando el lunes, 30 de junio no
habrá misa de lunes a viernes a las 7:00 am hasta después del

AMÉN
Mira alrededor de las paredes de tu iglesia. No importa si
sólo tiene uno o dos años de construida, la palabra “Amén” ha
resonado en sus paredes un número incontable de veces al
concluir la Oración Eucarística y cuando los fieles se acercan a
recibir el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo. La fiesta de hoy es sobre
esos “Amenes” ofrecidos en fe, en momentos de dificultad o
duda, pronunciados con alegría, o distraídamente, pero todos
entregados a Dios de alguna manera. Nuestra vida misma está
detrás de esos “Amenes” que han sido afectados por la
presencia de Cristo, la presencia que celebramos hoy. Más
importante aún, celebramos el amor de Cristo que nos lo dio en
su entrega total en el Calvario y que continúa dándonos en su
auto sacrificio de cada Eucaristía. ¿Podemos hacer otra cosa que
no sea alegrarnos por ese gran amor, y luego salir al mundo a
vivir ese amor en nuestro auto sacrificio por otros?
