WOOFSTOCK’S STORY
KristinaLee,ownerofCountryMeadowsPetInn,foundedWoofStockin2009.
UsingspacedonatedbythePetInn,shewasdeterminedtohelprescuedogsthat
wereondeathrowinlocalanimalshelters.WoofStockbecamea501(c)(3)nonprofit
organizationin2012.Sinceitsfoundingin2009,WoofStockhasrescued,vettedand
re-homedover900dogsanddozensofcats.Sheexplains:
“Mostpeopledon'trealizethesignificanceofWoofy,thedogintheWoofStocklogo.
InamedhimWoofybecauseheremindsmeofastuffeddogthatmydaddywonformewhenIwassix
yearsoldatacarnival.MydadpassedwhenIwassevenandIstartedtocarrymyWoofydogwithme
throughmanymovesandhardtimesinmychildhood.Ononeofourmanymoves,Woofywasleftbehind.
Woofybecameasymbol,notonlytome,butalsotoanyonewhocrossesWoofStock’sway,ofallthedogs
leftbehind.Whenyouadoptapet,itshouldbeforlife.IknowmyWoofywasastuffedanimal,butnowI
realizethatthesadfeelingIhadinmyheartafterhewasgonemustbethesamefeelingadoghaswhen
dumpedbyhisfamilyatashelter.”

Hello!MynameisDarla.Istartedoutas
someone'sdog,buttheydidn'ttreatmeverywell.
IwasshotintheeyewithaBBgun,andnoone
helpedme.(IstillhaveaBBinmyeye,butit
doesn'tbothermeanymore.)ThenIwastiedto
thebackdoorofalocalbusinessandlefttherein
theheatofsummer.LuckilywhenIwasfound,
WoofStockagreedtotakemein.
Theyfoundmeafosterhome,andthat'swhenI
foundoutwhatrealloveislike.NowIaminmy
foreverhome.Mymommytakesmetovisitthe
nursinghomewheremyfosterdaddynowlives,
andIalsohelpmymommywithherstressbecause
Iamsuchasnugglebug!Mylifechangedforever
becausesomeonewasthereformewhenIneeded
