Better that only a few Catholics should be left,
staunch and sincere in their religion, than that they
should, remaining many, desire as it were, to be in collusion with the Church’s enemies and in conformity with
the open foes of our faith.

CHURCH COLLECTION Sun. June 14th. $ 8,088.70
We appreciate the generosity of you, our parishioners. When we
have a second collection, people tend to split their usual offering
between the two collections, which is understandable given the
pressure of our economic times. However we rely on the first collection to keep the parish going and pay the bills. We ask that if there
are two collections you include the usual amount you give in the first
collection and do the best with the second if you are able to.

13th Sunday in Ordinary Time
June 28, 2015
Greetings to All!
As I said in my homily last week, faith is the
theme that pervades throughout the readings especially
the Gospel. The Gospel of Mark gives us two particular
stories regarding the faith of two people. On His way to
visit Jairus’ daughter, Jesus is walking with a large
crowd around Him to see what HE was going to do. It is
in the crowd that our Lord encounters the hemorrhagic
woman. Her faith was so deep, that she knew if only
she touched the clothing of Christ, she would be healed.
The Gospel tells us that “Jesus realizing that power had
gone out from him,” means that He knew someone was
healed (the Gospels relates that Jesus asked, “who
touched me”). What we need to remember, is that Jesus
is also divine not just human, so of course He knows
who touched Him. He tells her, “Daughter, your faith
has saves you. Go in peace and be cured of your affliction.”
After He speaks with the woman, Jesus hears
that Jairus’ daughter has died but disregards the message and proceeds to the house. He tells Jairus, “Do not
be afraid; just have faith.” Christ gets to the house,
raises her from the dead, gives strict instructions not to
say anything to anyone who is not there, and here it is,
He tells the child’s mother and father to give her something to eat. This is to reassure all concerned that only
those who are living can eat.
Both of these stories represent faith of those in
Christ, even if there is a little questioning. What is
needed is for us to say to our Lord, I believe.
Pope Saint John Paul II had always been quoted in saying do not be afraid. He was, after all, reiterating the
words of Christ. Our Lord is saying to all of us,
“Do not be afraid, just have faith.”
May we have the conviction of faith to stand up and say
I believe and pray; I will praise you Lord, for you have
rescued me.
God Bless You!
Buona Domenica! Good Sunday!
