July 12th. $ 7,091.00 We appreciate the generosity of you, our parishioners. When we have a second collection, people tend to split their usual offering between the two collections, which is understandable given the pressure of our economic times. However we rely on the first collection to keep the parish going and pay the bills. We ask that if there are two collections you include the usual amount you give in the first collection and do the best with the second if you are able to. COME and ENJOY—MUSIC and SINGING. FROM THE DESK OF FR. MIZZI-GILI 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time July 19, 2015 Greetings to All! When reading this week’s scriptures for mass, we come to realize that God wants us “shepherds” those who will lead His people to Himself and those who are entrusted with that sacred duty are not to be lazy in faith themselves. As I said last week, when we reject the teachings of the Church, we reject Christ. Here, it is the same. Our intentions and our actions must be that of God Himself. The very longing for God comes from the soul itself. The will of God for us is to be with Him in heaven, however, the road to heaven is long and narrow; but with God, we can obtain the eternal abode with the Trinity and our Blessed Mother, because all things are possible with God. The analogy used is that of shepherd and sheep. We, His people are His flock- the sheep and those who lead are His shepherds- the bishops and priests who bring the sacraments that Christ Himself instituted to give grace. Grace that will enable to us live and participate in the Triune God- God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The Blood of Christ washes away sin. So when we receive the EUCHARIST, we are receiving Jesus’ Body. Blood, Soul and Divinity. We are actually taking into our bodies Christ Himself! What an awesome gift that God gives u of Himself for His people! Since our soul tends and longs for God because it knows that is where the soul belongs, the human being- the person themselves searches the earth for truth and that truth is God. Pilate asked Christ, “what is truth?” This is what Jesus meant- those who “LISTEN to my voice hear the truth.” Our duty is to seek God, to seek the Truth and ask for the increase of Faith, Hope and Charity in our lives. Our prayer needs to be that of the entrance antiphon for this weekSee, I have God for my help. The Lord sustains my soul. I will sacrifice to you with willing heart, and praise your name, O lord for it is good. Let us pray truly- The Lord is my Shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. Amen. Buona Domenica! Good Sunday!
