of the diaper. He ,discovered a
pin open and sticking the baby.
"Why didn't you tell me the pin
was sticking into you?" asked the
professor kindly. "How could I,,"
replied the baby. "I'm not old

Here's something, dear readers.
Sqmebody happened to have paper
and pencil handy when Johnny
Dubnick got going the other night.
The results:
"When you're apt to complain,
remember the lA.cing a shoe string
has to take to make both ends
meet."
"Usually a girl can start a
man on the road to matrimony if
she has the right" map."
-"One way to get a job to soot

That's life for you. Last month,
we published the first step in
the campaign for a C.P.W. vacatio
the first week in June and were
immudiately buried in a flood of
protests; so here we go, changing
our minds before we're barely
start~d.
Seems like the campaign
slogan satisfactory to everybody
(we hope) ~ill have to be:

This being a bicycle club, we
don't think a few notes about our
trusty steeds will be amiss.
For,instance--Jack Smith is
displaying a neat retread job on
both his tires. Dan spent part of
his l~st furlough gluing strips
of rubber on the treads. Looks
like they're set for the duration.

Most cycle clubs, when the cycling season is over, go into hibernation until springtime, but
the C.P.W.'s decided to be different, and that first winter, and
ever since, we've had almost as
many activities in winter as in
summer.
As it grew colder, we turned to
indoor sports -- roller skating;
dancing {you'll remember Sundaynight rhumba lessons at the Ste-vens); lots of' square dancing; -plus the usual wintertime ice skating, and tobogganing, with a dash
of Christmas caroling thrown in.
And in January, we held one of
our nicest parties -- a "Snow Ball
at the Lodge, River Road and Irving Park. That was some shindig-we had wonderful food, chicken and
beef bar-b-ques--lots of dancing,
square and round, and you found
your partner by matching halves
of a jig-sawed figure--good games
to play--everything you need for a
gala evening.

Our cycle club became a golf
club, temporarily, one fine Friday
night in July, cycling out to
Peterson and Caldwell for a few
pailfuls of Stop & Sock and then
dropping around the corner for 18
holes of miniature golf.
Welre sorry to report that
apparently there'll be no successo
to the Bobby Jones cro~~ rising
out from amongst the C.P.W.'s,
although Mary Lou ~ chalk up a
hole in one on her score card, and
Edith did show the proper "do-ordie" spirit at the water hole (she
almost died by drowning).
So, after about an hour's
worth of antics on the golf course
thoughts of food forced themselve~
into the uppermost parts of our
minds, and the evening was topped
off by a good snack at one of our
favorite 'spots, The Green Gables,
Kimball and Peterson Aves.

I feel sorry for ~bJ~ being in the midst of, or just recovering from the agony of getting out the Bike-A-Zette. It really is
a grind, but still it's practically nothing compared to what I'm going
thru here at Rensse.laer Polytechnic Institute. Vlill tell you about
that later.
'
In the long run, I've really got a swell deal out of this

The scenery around 'hore is really beautiful. My dormitory
window looks out over a wide section of the Hudson River Valley, which
is dotted vii th farm housos and little villages--very picturesque--nothinE liko it in Chicngo (as fnr as scenery is concerned). Tho school
itself is built way up on the top of, or into the sides of, a big hill
near the edge of the town of froy (no place for a bicycle, and I haven'
seen any viorth mentioning). ,The food is much above the avorago--roally
