HCCSA Summer String Festival
Ways to Give Make a Donation Individual donations help to attract the very best guest artists, to rent instruments for students who cannot afford their own, to compensate talented instructors, and to keep the cost of enrollment low so that all interested Hillsdale County area students can participate. Be a Sponsor Events like the Summer String Festival enrich and attract people to our community. Sponsorship is an opportunity for businesses and organizations to receive public recognition for their support of local youth and culture. “Because of teachers, the community, and organizations like H.C.C.S.A., I was able to be nurtured and supported through my musical journey, and literally that is why I am doing what I am today.” - Kimberly Kennedy, Violinist and Associate Concertmaster of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Volunteer Time Each year it takes over 600 volunteer hours to plan and implement the Summer String Festival. The festival would not be possible without the generosity of the community. If you are interested in donating your time please contact Judy Bixler at (517) 437-0743. No doubt the spiritual enrichment of music has its intrinsic value, but also consider music’s pedagogical power: the effects on brain development are well-documented; the discipline that is Robert Spano, learned by practicing Atlanta Symphony Orchestra an instrument is the Photo Credit: Angela Morriss ideal of coordinating mind, body, and spirit; the skills of teamwork and cooperation are nowhere better learned than in a band, orchestra, or choir. The intensive training and exposure offered by the H.C.C.S.A. Summer String Festival is exactly the opportunity that can provide a transformative experience for our children, enriching their lives with the power, discipline, and beauty of music.” - Robert Spano, Music Director, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra About the Summer String Festival The 2014 Summer String Festival is an intensive strings education program for youth in grades 1-12 to be held July 28-August 8, 2014 at Davis Middle School in Hillsdale, Michigan.
