HOW TO KILL YOUR BUSINESS IN 10 EASY STEPS
1. Don’t Advertise. Just pretend everybody knows what you have to offer.
2. Don’t Advertise. Just assume everybody knows what you sell.
3. Don’t Advertise. Forget that there are new potential customers who would do
business with you if they were urged to do so.
4. Don’t Advertise. Tell yourself it costs too much to advertise and that you don’t get
enough out of it.
5. Don’t Advertise. Be sure not to provide an adequate advertising budget for
business.
6. Don’t Advertise. Tell yourself you just don’t have time to spend thinking about
promoting your business.
7. Don’t Advertise. Convince yourself that you have been in business so long that
customers will automatically come to you.
8. Don’t Advertise. Forget that you have competition trying to attract your customers
away from you.
9. Don’t Advertise. Overlook the fact that advertising is an investment in selling - not
an expense.
10. Don’t Advertise. Forget that you have to keep reminding your established
customers that you appreciate their business

WHY ADVERTISE IN SPANISH RADIO?
1. The Hispanic market in Ventura County offers the only growing target market
and one with larger and younger families.
2. Hispanics are ideal for word-of-mouth advertising because of their cohesive,
inter-dependent, multi-generational household.
3. Hispanics are new to your product, service and brand.
4. Hispanics are not a syndical target because of not having been bombarded,
saturated with the s.o-s.o messages.
5. Hispanic households boast median household incomes
6. Hispanics are very active consumers of groceries, family, clothing and cars, as
well as other day-to-day necessities.
7. The multi-generational, multi-income Hispanic household has and spends the
money needed for necessities.
8. Hispanics largely ignored by Anglo advertisers, cleave to those who reach out
to them, with an uncommon loyalty.
9. Hispanics do not complain about products and services bought.
10. Hispanics make advertising to them an ’investment’. Loyal customers are your
result.
11. Advertising to Hispanics in the language of their birth, parentage, home
setting, love making and everyday gossip, endears them to you as a welcoming
Anglo business in their neighborhoods.

Almost 60% of the Mexican
Regional audience were men and
55% of its listeners were 25-44
years old. Mexican Regional’s 35%
25-34 composition continues with
a seven year high, and the 65+

More than in any other location,
42.9% of listeners tuned-in at

31.2%. Between 2006 and 2007
all dayparts were up, with a peak

Regional was the number 1 format

country, with certain regions
experiencing even more appeal to
this format than others. The East
North Central, West North
Central, Mountain and Pacific
Regions were the states with the
highest ratings in Mexican

amount of Mexican Regional

The most profound aspect of
the Mexican Regional’s make
up, was the remarkably high
amount of TSL (time spent
listening ), which turned out to
be much higher than any other
format in radio. In general
Mexican Regional received
almost four more listening
hours than the next closest
format. TSL was the highest
amongst those of ages 25-54
surpassing 14:00 by one hour.
The data provided on these pages is
proof to the fact that radio is a valued
component of the Hispanic
Community. From dawn to dusk no
matter the locale, radio is a primary
media platform for this ethnic group.

These numbers testify to radio’s influential capacity to attract listeners in every
demographic group. Radio’s overall reach has remained consistent over the years,

Radio’s reach amongst Hispanic men has remained steady for six years straight. It
was up among Hispanic men ages 45-54 for the second consecutive year and at it’s
highest since 2004.
There was only a 1% slip among Hispanic women listeners between 2002 and 2007.
It’s Reach to Hispanic women 65+ was up 3% since 2002, meanwhile cume ratings

Approximately 72% of Spanish-language radio
consumers were employed full or part-time,
compared to the 65% of the general
population, with 54% working full-time,
slightly more than the U.S. population as a
whole.
52% of Spanish-language radio listeners are
married. More than one-third are single,
indexing much higher than the national
average. Though, one must take into
consideration that their household sizes were
larger, with 43% having two or more children,
compared to the national level at 24%. Nearly
half of Spanish language radio listeners (45%),
owned their own home.
Furthermore, Spanish language radio listeners
were far less likely to be registered to vote.
Interestingly, they paralleled with the national
average as identifying themselves as
Democrats, on the flip side they were half as
likely to consider themselves Republican. Also,
almost 40% denied identifying with any
political affiliation at all.

Their Phones Are Off the Hook!
Fortunately, two-thirds of Spanish Language
listeners have cell-phones, only 5% below the
general population. 72% of those with a cell phone,
spent at least $50 on their bill last month, with 11%
spending $150 or more. Out of all of these
consumers 15% are planning on switching to a new
carrier in the coming year, 45% more likely than all
adults with a cell phone on a national level.
In regards to using cell phones, Spanish language
radio listeners were well above the average
numbers, exceeding the standard in practically
every
aspect of the Scarborough Report.
Usage of a conventional telephone was almost
twice as high, for example Spanish-language radio
listeners were twice as likely to spend $100 or more
on long distance. Furthermore, they were also much
more likely to use calling cards through both local
and long distance phone companies.

The numbers show that Spanish-language radio listener’s are a dream come true
for any vendor, in many important categories, from consumer electronics to
durable goods, transportation and real estate. Furthermore, they are twice as likely
to purchase a newly constructed home or condominium within the next 12
months, and on top of that they were much more likely to purchase new items for
their new home, such as furniture, mattresses, appliances, HDTV, a computer,
security system, a pool or spa and much more.
Spanish-language radio listeners who are on the watch for a new car are twice as
likely as all adults to spend under $10K, and are 66% more likely to spend
between $10K and $15K.
