Career Highlights
Coached former Clemson star and NFL All-Pro Kevin Mack in
high school in 1970s.
Coached the last 15 years at the University of Tennessee under
Phillip Fulmer. He coached in 13 bowl games in those 15 years
and was part of eight teams that won at least 10 games. Volunteers finished in the top 25 in 12 of those seasons, including
six top 10 finishes. Tennessee finished in top 10 of the AP poll
in five straight years (1995-99).
Tennessee won back to back SEC championships in 1997 and
1998.
Had experience as Tennessee’s recruiting coordinator from
1999-2002.
In 1998, Brooks was named the SEC’s top defensive line
coach.
Coached on 1998 Tennessee staff that won the national championship with a perfect 13-0 record. That team had six wins
over top 25 teams and gave up just five rushing touchdowns
all year.
Coached first round draft choice Albert Haynesworth, now the
highest paid defensive player in the NFL with the Washington
Redskins. Also coached first round draft picks Shaun Ellis, John Henderson
and Justin Harell.
Tennessee defense finished third in the nation in total defense,
allowing just 263.5 yards per game in 2008. Volunteers were also
10th in scoring defense and 12th in rushing defense.
Coached six years under Mack Brown at North Carolina from
1988-93. Helped the resurgence of North Carolina during
that era, culminating with a 9-3 record in 1992 and a 10-3
mark in 1993. Helped take Tar Heels to the Peach and Gator Bowls in consecutive years.
Coached five years at University of Florida from 1983-87. Gators
played in two bowl games, including the Gator Bowl in 1983,
and finished in the AP top 10.

Career Highlights
In his second tour of duty at Clemson, he served as defensive
secondary coach under Tommy West from 1995-97. So this is
his fourth year overall in Tigertown.
During that 1995-97 era he helped the Tigers to three bowl
games, the 1996 Gator, 1996 Peach and 1998 Peach. Coached some great players in the 1990s at Clemson, including
seven-time Pro Bowl selection Brian Dawkins, among the best
players in history of the Philadelphia Eagles. Dawkins made
third team All-American and led the ACC in interceptions his
first year. Also coached future Super Bowl Champion Dexter
McCleon and Washington Redskins safety Leomont Evans. Antwan Edwards went on to be a first-round draft pick after three
years under Harbison.
Harbison comes to Clemson from Mississippi State where
he was defensive coordinator and safeties coach. Helped Mississippi State to the Liberty Bowl in 2007. The Bulldogs ranked
seventh in the nation in pass dfense and 20th in pass efficiency
defense that year.
Has had two tours of duty at Alabama, 2003-06 and 19982000. Helped Alabama to five bowl games in seven years overall,
including the 1999 season when the Crimson Tide won the SEC
title and played Michigan in the Orange Bowl. Alabama finished
ranked eighth in the nation that year. Coached defensive backs
in first tour of duty and wide receivers the second time around
at Alabama.
Coached at LSU under Nick Saban in 2001 and 2002. The 2001
LSU team won the SEC title and finished seventh in the final AP
poll with a 10-3 record. LSU played in two bowl games in his
two years at LSU.
Got his start in coaching at Gardner-Webb, his alma mater,
in 1984.
Also has experience coaching in the Arena Football League and
the World League of American Football.

Career Highlights
In his fourth season as a full-time coach at Clemson. Now the
offensive coordinator, he moved into that position at age 29 and
will be 30 when he is calling plays in the opening game against
Middle Tennessee on September 5. Youngest coordinator in
Clemson history and one of the youngest in the nation.
Joined Clemson offensive staff as tight ends coach in 2006 and
the Tigers led the ACC in total offense, rushing offense and
scoring offense. In fact, Clemson ranked fifth in the nation in rushing that
year. His tight ends were successful, including Thomas Hunter,
who had 16 catches for 305 yards.
Has been ranked among the top 25 recruiters in the nation
by Rivals.com two of the last three years, including 2008
when Clemson ranked second in the nation in recruiting by
ESPN.com. Napier was Clemson’s recruiting coordinator the last three years,
but has willed that position for 2009 to Jeff Scott.
Served as an assistant coach at South Carolina State in 2005
and helped that program to 9-2 seasons, including 7-1 in the
league. S.C. State was 12th in the nation in rushing (236 yards
per game) and 15th in the nation in passing efficiency, to go with
17th in scoring at 34.4 points per game.
Helped the Bulldogs to the fourth-best turnover margin in
the country, as the team committed just 11 turnovers in 2005
after losing 33 turnovers in 2004. Napier was elevated to the
offensive coordinator position after the 2005 season, but never
coached in that role due to his hiring at Clemson.
Graduate assistant at Clemson during nine-win season of 2003
and during the 2004 season.
Lettered four times (1999-02) at Furman and was a two-time
captain as a quarterback. He holds the Furman career record
for completion percentage (64.8) and is third in passing yardage (4,247). Also set the school single-season record with
2,475 passing yards and was a finalist for the Walter Payton
Award in 2002.

Career Highlights
One of two Clemson graduates on the current coaching staff, Jeff
Scott is the other. Played tight end on Clemson’s 1986 and 1987 ACC
Championships teams, then served as a graduate assistant coach
on the 1988 ACC Championship team.
Joined Clemson’s staff in December of 2008 and coached in the
Konica Minolta Bowl against Nebraska. So he joined a small group
of people who have played for Clemson in a bowl game and coached
the Tigers in a bowl game. Played in the 1986 Gator Bowl and the
1987 Citrus Bowls for the Tigers.
Full-time coaching career got off to a great start with eight year
tenure at Alabama. In just his second year as a full-time coach, he
coached the offensive tackles and served as special teams coordinator for Alabama’s National Championship team. The Tide defeated
University of Miami in the Sugar Bowl to claim the championship.
Alabama made six bowl appearances in his eight years on the
staff. The Tide won the Western Division of the SEC five times in
those eight years.
Pearman served on the same Alabama staff with current Clemson
head coach Dabo Swinney from 1993-97.
After eight years at Alabama, Pearman moved to Virginia Tech where
he worked for eight years under Frank Beamer. The Hokies went to
eighth straight bowl games in his eight years with the program.
Virginia Tech played Florida State for the National Championship
in the Sugar Bowl in 1999, so Pearman has coached in the National
Championship game in the Sugar Bowl with two different schools.
Pearman coached the tight ends at Virginia Tech and was also a
special teams assistant. Had two tight ends drafted who went on
to an NFL career.
Coached at North Carolina in 2006, Duke in 2007 and Maryland in
2008 so he is very familiar with the ACC. Helped Maryland to the
Humanitarian Bowl in 2008.
In 18 years as a Division I full time head coach, his teams have gone
to 14 bowl games. Including three years as a graduate assistant
coach it is 17 bowl games in 21 years.

Career Highlights
In his third year at Clemson as running backs coach and his
second as the special teams coordinator. Coached all-star
running backs James Davis and C.J. Spiller and will coach
Spiller in 2009.
Has coached an All-ACC player each of his first two years, Davis
in 2007 and Spiller in 2008.
Had a very positive effect on Clemson’s special teams in 2008
as the Tigers led the ACC in kickoff return coverage and ranked
14th in the nation in kickoff returns. Spiller ranked in top 25 in
the nation in kickoff returns and all-purpose running.
Has been in charge of Clemson’s kickoff returns each of the last
two years and Clemson has ranked in the top 15 in the nation
in each season.
Coached Pittsburgh Steeler Super Bowl Champion Willie Parker
at North Carolina, and Ronnie McGill, who finished his career
10th in school history with over 2,300 rushing yards. Coached
at North Carolina from 2001-06.
Also coached kickoff returns with the Tar Heels and they were
seventh in the nation in kickoff returns in 2005 and second in
the ACC in 2006.
Assistant coach at Virginia for five years from 1996-00, where he
coached NFL players Thomas Jones, Germaine Crowell, Charles
Kirby, Pat Washington, and Terrence Wilkins.
Spent two different stints as an assistant coach at Army (1991
and 1995).
Also served as a graduate assistant coach at Indiana, his alma
mater and South Carolina (1990).
Played two years at Lees-McRae (1984,85) prior to earning two
letters at Indiana (1986,87). The lead blocker for 1,000-yard
rusher Anthony Thompson in 1987; Thompson went on to rush
for over 6,000 yards and was inducted into the College Football
Hall of Fame in 2007. Earned Indiana’s Most Improved Player award during his senior
season and was a member of two bowl teams, including the
1986 All-American Bowl and 1988 Peach Bowl.

Career Highlights
Defensive line coach in his fourth year at Clemson. In each
of his first three years Clemson’s defense has ranked in the
top 25 in the nation in scoring defense, rushing defense and
total defense.
Coached Clemson defensive end Phillip Merling, who went on
to be the #32 pick of the 2008 NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins.
Merling went on to strong rookie season with the Dolphins
after ranking in the top 10 in the ACC in sacks at Clemson in
2007. Rumph is Merling’s uncle.
Clemson defense ranked in the top 10 in the nation in total
defense and scoring defense that year.
Clemson ranked in the top 20 in the nation in total defense and
rushing defense in his first year at Clemson, 2006.
In his three years at Clemson, the Tigers have gone to three bowl
games and won 24 games, including a high of nine in 2007 when
Clemson finished the season in the final top 25 of both polls.
Has ties to current Clemson offensive line coach Brad Scott and
former Clemson head coach Tommy West. Coached under West at Memphis and helped the team to three
straight bowl games between 2003-05. Memphis beat SEC rival
Mississippi in 2003 and 2004. Memphis was ninth in the nation
in total defense in 2003.
Helped the 2005 defense to finish 23rd in the nation in turnover
margin and lead the league in rushing yards allowed per game
(125.6), the 27th-best mark in the country. Memphis won 24
games in his three years.
Head coach at Calhoun County High School in Saint Matthews,
SC from 1997-01; he also served as offensive coordinator and
quarterbacks/running backs coach at Calhoun County High..
Four-time letterman at South Carolina (1991-94). Had 52 tackles
in 11 regular-season games as a senior in 1994 Brad Scott, he
helped team to win over West Virginia in the Carquest Bowl,
the first bowl win in Clemson history.

Career Highlights
In his 11th season as assistant coach, he has worked on offensive
side of the ball in each of the previous 10 years.
Coached second-team All-ACC offensive lineman Thomas Austin
last year, he was only ACC offensive lineman to be ACC Player of
the Week three times in 2008.
In his 10 years at Clemson, the Tigers have been bowl eligible all 10
years and have played in nine bowls. The Tigers have set over 100
school records on offense since he has been with the program.
As offensive coordinator at Clemson in 2001, Woody Dantzler
became first player in NCAA history to have 2000 yards passing and
1000 yards rushing in the same season.
Has been coordinator of two of the top four offenses in Clemson
history in terms of total offense (2001 and 2003).
Has coached at least one All-ACC player each of the last four
years. That includes two first-team selections in 2007 in Chris
McDuffie and Barry Richardson. Both of those players earned
All-America honors as well, the first time two offensive linemen
on the same Clemson team made All-American. Richardson was
a two-time first-team All-ACC selection.
The offensive line of 2006 led James Davis and C.J. Spiller to a
combined over 2000 yards rushing, a big reason Clemson was fifth
in the nation in rushing that year.
His son, Jeff Scott, is the Clemson wide receivers coach and recruiting
coordinator, giving Clemson its first father and son, full time coaching
combination in history.
Came to Clemson after serving five years as the head coach at South
Carolina. Led South Carolina to a bowl win over West Virginia in the
1994 Carquest Bowl, the first bowl win in South Carolina history.
Assistant coach at Florida State from 1983-93, he was on the 1993
FSU staff that won the National Championship. Scott was offensive
coordinator of that record setting team that featured Heisman
Trophy winner Charlie Ward.
Florida State was 10-0-1 in bowl games when he was at Florida State.
Seminoles were 44-6 when he was the offensive coordinator.

Career Highlights
Youngest member of the Clemson full-time staff at 28, he
became full-time on October 13, 2008.
Son of Clemson offensive line coach Brad Scott, so he is part
of the first Clemson father-son full-time coaching combination
in school history.
One of two Clemson graduates on the staff, Danny Pearman
is the other.
A member of three bowl teams as a player at Clemson between 2000 and 2002. Played in the 2001 Gator Bowl, 2001
Humanitarian Bowl and the 2002 Tangerine Bowls during his
Clemson career. Noted for his ability as a runner out of fake field goal situations. Also played wide receiver for the Tigers in that time.
Began his coaching career at Blythewood High School near
Columbia and won a state championship in his first year in
the business and the program’s first year. It is believed to
be the first time that has happened in South Carolina high
school football.
Had first college full time job at Presbyerian in 2007 as wide
receivers coach, then came to Clemson as graduate assistant
in 2008. Moved into full-time status when Tommy Bowden
resigned at mid-season.
In second half of the 2008 season had opportunity to coach
Aaron Kelly, the ACC’s all-time leading receiver.

Career Highlights
Comes to Clemson with 23 years of experience in the college
ranks and four in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers.
Has coached in 16 bowl games, including eight appearances n
bowls that are now considered Bowl Championship Series level.
That includes six appearances in the FedX Orange Bowl.
Has been on 11 coaching staffs that have finished in the top 20 at
five different schools. That includes Alabama in 2008.
Has coached under National Championship Head Coaches Tom
Osborne, Nick Saban, Bobby Bowden and Johnny Majors in his
career that dates to the 1982 season.
Member of the 1994 Nebraska staff that won the national
championship.
Spent the last two years at Alabama under Nick Saban and
helped the Crimson tide to the SEC Championship game. Alabama finished the regular season with a 12-0 record. Alabama
finished third in the nation in total defense, fourth in rushing
defense and sixth in scoring defense in 2008. Alabama led the
SEC in rushing defense and total defense in 2008.
Spent the 2003-06 seasons at Florida State where he was
executive head coach and linebackers coach under Bobby
Bowden. Helped Seminoles to three top 25 finishes and two
ACC Championships.
Served as head coach at Baylor from 1999-02 and as an assistant with Carolina Panthers from 1995-98. That 1995 season
the Panthers played their home games in Clemson Memorial
Stadium.
Coached at Nebraska for six years (1989-94) and the Cornhuskers
had a 61-11-1 record and four Big 12 Championships.
Coached at his alma mater, Tennessee in 1987 and 1988, helping
the Volunteers to 10-2-1 record in 1987.
In 1984 he helped Oklahoma State to a 10-2 record and numberfive ranking in the Final AP poll.
