We are proud of all that the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre
Foundation has accomplished in 2009-2010. In spite of a tough
economic climate, the Foundation delivered a record $231,000. to
benefit children with disabilities, through support for programs,
equipment purchases and research at the Ottawa Children’s
Treatment Centre.
We offer sincere thanks to all donors for loyal and generous
support and especially The Minto Group Inc., The Ottawa Citizen,
TD Bank financial Group, Merkley Building Supply and the
Harold Crabtree Foundation.
We are also grateful to our generous and committed members of
the Board and our competent staff who have focused on building
revenues over the past few years. We are pleased to be working
more closely with the Board of the Ottawa Children’s Treatment
Centre.
I am gratified to be handing direction of the Foundation Board to a
very competent new Chair, Mr. Regis Trudel.
Nous sommes fiers de tout ce que la Fondation du Centre
de traitement pour enfants d’Ottawa a réalisé en 2009-2010.
Malgré le contexte économique difficile, la Fondation a remis la
somme record de 231 000 $ au CTEO. Ces fonds permettent de
financer les programmes, l’achat d’équipement et les projets
de recherche dont les enfants aux prises avec des incapacités
bénéficient.
Great programs and projects directly benefit over 3,000 children
and families who count on the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre,
thanks to the support of generous donors like you!
A child with cerebral palsy unable to verbalize can “say it with his
eyes” thanks to the Dynavox Eyemax. The Eyemax talks for the
child – he LOOKS at the word or image he wants to say and the
machine speaks on his behalf!
A new online library provides over 2500 items to families and
kids –“switches” that modify regular toys, videos, software,
books – it’s all there to help!
Baby Sense is a music and sensory exploration program
for children from 6 to 17 months at risk for a physical or
developmental delay and also for their parents. Mothers report
lots of improvement!
Each OCTC School classroom now has a palm size video
recorder and screen – teachers and therapists can share the
progress each child makes – families can now see how their
children are improving – a great success!
Toutes les salles d’enseignement du CTEO sont maintenant
équipées d’une petite caméra vidéo et d’un écran – permettant
aux enseignants et aux thérapeutes de partager les progrès
réalisés par chacun, et aux parents de constater les
améliorations de leurs enfants – une grande réussite!
Notre programme Allons d’l’avant s’adresse aux familles
d’enfants que l’on soupçonne d’être atteints d’un trouble du
spectre autistique. Et grâce à la générosité des donateurs,
une diététiste aidera maintenant à traiter les problèmes
alimentaires.
Ce ne sont là que quelques exemples des choses rendues possibles
grâce à vos dons. Mes remerciements les plus sincères à toutes les
personnes qui soutiennent notre œuvre, et plus particulièrement à
notre Conseil d’administration et à nos bénévoles dévoués.

Nous somme aussi reconnaissants de la générosité et du
dévouement des membres de notre Conseil d’administration et
de notre personnel compétent qui se sont attachés à accroître
nos revenus au cours des dernières années. Nous sommes aussi
très heureux de travailler en relation plus étroite avec le Conseil
d’administration du Centre de traitement pour enfants d’Ottawa.
Un enfant atteint de paralysie cérébrale et incapable de
verbaliser sa pensée peut maintenant « faire parler son regard »
grâce à la technologie du Dynavox Eyemax!
Une nouvelle bibliothèque de prêt en ligne offre plus de
2 500 articles pratiques aux familles d’enfants ayant des besoins
spéciaux – jouets adaptés, vidéos, logiciels, livres – tout y est!

Our Getting Started program is for families and children thought
to be on the autism spectrum. Thanks to generous support, a
dietician will now help with food related problems.
