it is a healthcare service for medical emergencies
Please go there only in case of an emergency
If your health problem is not urgent, please refer to your family doctor, to the paediatrician or to the Ambulatorio STP (a service
addressed to all immigrants without a residence permit)
Your family doctor or paediatrician knows you and your family and can provide you with better medical assistance
The Emergency Room is always very busy so please don’t go there unless you have a real and urgent problem.

Don’t go to the Emergency Room for:
“THE MORNING-AFTER PILL”
The morning-after pill can be prescribed eirther at the Consultorio Familiare or by your family doctor. It can only be prescribed at the
ob-gyn E.R. only on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays (from 9.00a.m. to 9.00p.m)
Urgent GYNECOLOGIC check up AND/OR ULTRASOUNDS
If your family doctor prescribes you a “urgent gynecologic check or an ultrasound ” please contact the regional CUP (reservation
centre) to schedule an appointment; urgent exams may take place within 3 days from booking
Late periods
A late period is not an emergency. The Emergency Room does not give pregnancy tests.
If you think you could be pregnant, please do a pregnancy test (at a lab or buy a home early pregnancy test at the chemist’s), and
then book a gynecologic visit through the regional CUP
Exams evaluation during PREGNANCY
In order to have your pregnancy exams checked you can either go to your family doctor or gynaecologist, or to the Consultorio
Familiare or to the hospital ob-gyn ambulatories.

5062, on Mondays and Fridays from 8.30a.m. to 11.00a.m. There you can get all the information you need in your mother tongue
because the Consultorio Familiare offers a cross cultural mediators’ service.
VAGINITIS, break outs, SKIN rushes
Go to your family doctor or to the Guardia Medica service (only on Saturdays and Sundays)
Bladder infection, RENAL COLICS, STRONG PAIN TO THE URINARY tract
Go to your family doctor or to the Guardia Medica service (only on Saturdays and Sundays). If your conditions
worsen and
the pain is severe go to the Emergency room at Torrette Hospital. If these symptoms concern a child take him/her to the Paediatric
Emergency Room at Salesi Hospital.
ABDOMINAL PAIN IN NON PREGNANT WOMEN
Go to your family doctor or to the Guardia Medica service (only on Saturdays and Sundays). If the pain is severe go to the
Emergency Department at Torrette Hospital. If these symptoms concern a child take him/her to the Paediatric Emergency Room at
Salesi Hospital.
INJECTIONS
The Emergency Room does not give injections. Go to your family doctor.
BREAST PROBLEMS
Refer to your family doctor or to the breast specialist’s office (Ambulatorio di Senologia) at Torrette Hospital.
PHONE ASSISTANCE
The Emergency Room cannot give phone assistance to people with health problems.
