THE STEP- BY- STEP GUIDE TO
THE SILHOUETTE SOFT®
THREAD LIFT

About the Silhouette Soft® Thread Lift
One of the most unwelcome signs of ageing is sagging skin in the face and neck. Silhouette Soft® is a
45 minute procedure that can be performed in your doctor’s office to lift sagging skin and restore
youthful contours to your face. It uses a biodegradable thread which gives an immediate lift and
stimulates collagen production. This means that your face will look better and better for the next few
months. The result is natural; there is no scarring and minimal downtime.
THREE STEPS TO A NEW YOU!
STEP 1: PRE-TREATMENT
• Choose your doctor carefully! The Silhouette Soft® thread lift is a highly specialised treatment.
Make sure that your doctor is properly qualified to perform the procedure and has been
accredited by AAMSSA (Aesthetic and Antiageing Medicine Society of South Africa).
• Make sure you have asked all the questions you have and are satisfied with the answers. Inform
your doctor of any medical conditions you may have.
• Stop taking any anti-inflammatories, fish oils or Vitamin E ten days before the treatment as these
may increase the chances of bruising.

STEP 2: TREATMENT
What to expect
• Your face will be thoroughly cleaned and marked with a make-up pencil.
• The doctor will inject some local anaesthetic into the skin at a few points. This will sting a little.
• Following this, the skin will be completely numb and you will not feel pain as the thread is
inserted. You will feel pressure and tugging under the skin.
• The threads are trimmed and your face will be cleaned.
• You may have some swelling, skin dimpling or mild bruising. These are normal and will settle
down over the next few days and should disappear in about a week. There will be tiny pinpricks
where the thread has been inserted. These will close in a few days. These changes occur
mainly at the hairline in front of the ear so you will be able to hide them with a clever hairstyle.
• Your doctor will apply some antibiotic ointment to these areas to prevent any infection.
• Schedule your follow up appointments with your doctor after 3 days, 1 week and 2 weeks.

STEP 3: POST TREATMENT
You may lightly apply ice to the area immediately after the treatment to prevent swelling and bruising.
For 3 days:
• You may experience some pain and tenderness and can take anti-inflammatories to control this.
• Elevate your head to 30 degrees while you sleep.
For 5 days:
• Sleep in the face-up position ( you can use a cushion designed for air travel to stop you from
turning).
• Put on make-up, wash and dry face, shave and wash hair gently.
For 2 weeks:
• Avoid direct sun and tanning beds.
For 3 Weeks:
• Avoid facial massages, sport (especially contact sport), dental surgery, drinking from a straw,
extreme facial movement and saunas.
Enjoy the new you!
