These projects mainly empower local communities towards betterment by targeting the strengths and weakness of two groups - farmers and single mothers. In order to equip these groups with entrepreneurial knowledge and skills, which they are lacking of, we have conducted several workshops under the New Entrepreneur Development Programme, N.E.D.P.R.O. Farmers (Hope Opportunity Motivation Entrepreneurship) Aims to develop the Orang Asli, Kensiu community of Semang Negrito tribe in Kedah. They are often neglected by society, faces social problems, lack educational awareness and experience unstable economic conditions. Therefore, SIFE UUM identified their problems and their needs to improve the standard and quality of living through education and entrepreneurship. Orang Asli (The native of Kensiu people of Semang Negrito tribe) Focusing on women, children and new entrepreneurs. Single mothers Health and Hygiene N.E.S.T (New Entrepreneur Start-up) I.E.M (Inducement Education Module) Medical Camp. Chicken breeding business. Practice proper grooming. “Kabu-Kabu Pillow “ business. Fun learning method through Step by Step and Eco-Me module. W.E.M (Women Empowerment Module) (Entrepreneurial Training) Cultivating fruits and vegetables waste into enzyme. Indigenous Microorganism (IMO) Education Entrepreneurship Oriental Herbal Nutrient (OHN) Social Empowered 7 farmers to collectively cultivate 3850 kg of IMO for business and domestic use. Economic Saved up to RM 5795 chemical fertilizers and RM 2313 from chemical pesticides per acre anually. Educate single mothers to be more environmental conscious. Equip single mothers with knowledge and skills on enzyme production. Single mothers monthly income increases from RM 500 to RM 620 (24 %). Environment Successfully restored the fertility of 35 acres of land. Reduced usage of chemical fertilizers by 3089 kg and chemical pesticides by 30 litres per acre annually. Reduce the agricultural waste by 1.5 tonnes annually. Towards Sustainability... Assigning a leader in the ‘Special Team’ to ensure the continuous supply of IMO and OHN. Sustain market demand by linking interested parties / detergent users with single mothers. Constant monitoring by SIFE UUM to ensure Collaboration between Agriculture smooth business cycle. Department of Kedah and the ‘Special Team’ to ensure continuous monitoring of programme. Social Economic Environment Increase self-esteem among the ‘Kensiu’ community. Create more business opportunity. Applying recycled bottles in gardening. Instill enthusiasm in education among children. Generated total revenue of RM 988 from the first batch of pillowselling business. Applying hygiene best practices in the chicken rearing business by using enzyme. Breaking the barriers of social isolation. Increase sensitivity in health issues and awareness on the right family planning practices. Generated total revenue of RM5040 annually in chicken rearing business. Towards Sustainability... Regular medical check-up and basic health care by LPPKN is scheduled annually. Incorporating eggs incubator system to ensure long term supply of chicks. Step By Step module certified by JPN Kedah has been adopted by the teachers in SKS (Sekolah Kebangsaan Siong, Baling, Kedah). Expand the distribution channels for the ‘Kabu-Kabu’ pillow business.
