AUG 2016 GOD IS NOT A SECRET #I am the light Dear City of Praise Family, God has a special promise to the righteous who live holy before Him, trusting in His Word and treating others with love and generosity. Keep this in your heart and you will never walk in fear of the future: P1............GOD IS NOT A SECRET JOIN US FOR WORSHIP WEEKLY WORSHIP SERVICES SUNDAY 10:00 AM 8501 Jericho City and Bishop Peebles Dr. Landover, MD 20785 CHILDREN’S CHURCH (AGES 3-11) Blessed man, blessed woman, who fear GOD, who cherish and relish his commandments, their children robust on the earth, And the homes of the upright—how blessed! Their houses brim with wealth and a generosity that never runs dry. Sunrise breaks through the darkness for good people—God’s grace and mercy and justice! The good person is generous and lends lavishly; No shuffling or stumbling around for this one, but a sterling and solid and lasting reputation. Unfazed by rumor and gossip, heart ready, trusting in GOD, spirit firm, unperturbed, ever blessed, relaxed among enemies, they lavish gifts on the poor—a generosity that goes on, and on, and on. An honored life! A beautiful life! Someone wicked takes one look and rages, Blusters away but ends up speechless. There’s nothing to the dreams of the wicked. Nothing. (Psalm 112:5-10 MSG) God bless you, Bishop Joel and Pastor Ylawnda Peebles MONDAY 7:00 PM INTERCESSORY PRAYER & HOLY COMMUNION /CityofPraiseChurch @CityofPraisemd WORD Network SUNDAY @ 6pm Office # 301-333-0500 Text “COP” to 54244 to stay connected to the latest news. LION’S ROAR STAFF Bishop Joel Peebles & Pastor Ylawnda Peebles, Diane George, Evan George, Paulette Shelton, Raymond Morse and Eddie Paylor Lion’s Roar GOD IS NOT A SECRET #I am the light By: Bishop Joel Peebles “You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16 MSG) Saints, we are not put on this earth to blend in with the world, so that the world can’t tell the saved from the unsaved. We are here so that God can use us to lead others to Him. People need to see a difference in us—something in our lifestyles that will attract them, draw them in so that we, in turn, can point them to God. If you are standing in a valley at midnight, with darkness all around you, and you look up to the top of the hill, you will Lion’s Roar be able to see one light placed at the top of that hill that shines through the darkness. If you are trapped in a dark room, and you shine a flashlight or turn on your cell phone, the light from that single small instrument dispels the darkness of the room so that you can find the door and see the way out. We are called to be that light. When you walk in the room, peace should walk in with you. The way you treat others should exemplify the love, forgiveness and joy of Christ. Your very lifestyle should be one of obedience to the Word of God, and total trust in times of trouble. Remember, there is always someone watching you, and if they see Christ in you at all times, they will want to know “what must I do to be saved”. Then ask God for that holy boldness to let them know the truth of the Gospel. God said all we need do is let people know who He is, and He will do the rest to bring them unto Him. God is not a secret for us to keep for ourselves. We are here to lead people to Christ by lifting Him up, through word and deed, and in the love for others that only He can put in our hearts. Our mission here at the COPFM is to lead millions of people to Christ. So let your light shine brightly in this dark world. God will honor your faithfulness and will bless you tremendously. And you will hear Him say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” 1 2 Lion’s Roar Lion’s Roar 3 4 Lion’s Roar Lion’s Roar 5
