• Cutoutpatternaccordingtothepatterninstructionsfortheshortversionofthejewelneckjacket.Beforeaddingembroidery,seamshoulderseams.
• UseFusibleNo-ShowMeshStabilizerinconjunctionwithHydro-stick™Tear-awayStabilizer.First,stabilizetheentirewrong
sideofthepiecedfabricwithFusibleNo-ShowMeshStabilizer.Next,usetheHydro-stick™Tear-awayStabilizerratherthan
hoopingthefabric.Simplyhoopthestabilizerandadherethefabrictothestickyareaofthestabilizer.Economizebyusing
stabilizeronaroll.Insteadofcuttingthestabilizertothesizeofthehoop,keepthestabilizerontherollwhenyouhoop.
Afterembroideringthefirstsection,carefullytearawaythefabricfromthestabilizer.Givethestabilizeraquickpressto
smoothoutthewrinklesfromthefirsthooping.Thenrehoopthenextsectionofstabilizerandcontinueembroidering.
• HelpfultipsforembroideringwithLanaandCotonaThread:
-Usetherecommendedsize100topstitchneedlesfortheLana
thread.Size90needlesarerecommendedfortheCotonathread,
butwedidn’talwaysremembertoswitchtoa90andtheCotona
didstitchwiththesize100.
-Slowthemachine’sstitchingspeedtoitsslowestsetting.
-Loosentheupperthreadtensionslightly,ensuringthebobbin
threaddoesn’tpulltoomuchLanathreadunderthefabric.
-Ifyourmachinehasanautomaticthreadtrimmingfeature,youmaywish
toturnitoffand“hand-trim”.ThiskeepsLanathreadendsfrombuilding
upinthetrimmingmechanism.
-Atthebeginningofeachthreadstitching,holdthethreadtailontopofthe
hoopedfabric;takeafewstitches,thentrimthetailclosetothefabric.This
helpskeeptheundersideoftheembroideryneatandlessensthechanceofthreadnests.
-Cleanoutthemachine’sbobbincaseandsurroundingareawellandoften.Wewereamazedtofindhowquicklythelint
builtup.Anytimethethreadbroke,wemadecertaintoremovetheembroideryhoopfromthemachineandcarefully
cleanthebobbinarea.Weevenfoundlintbuiltuparoundthebobbinthreadwhereitdrawsfromthebobbincase.Keep
yourowner’smanualhandytoproperlycleanyourmachine.
• Alldesigncomponentsarepicturedonthefollowingpages.Usetheseimagesasguidesforplacementofdesigns;dependingonthesizeorstylevariationofthejacketpatternyouareembroidering,youmaywishtoenlargeoradjustpositions.
Eachgroupingindicatestheorderinwhichthevariousdesignsmakingupthatgroupingshouldbestitched.
• Designplacementandalignmenttip:Toensureproperplacementandalignmentofdesigns,werecommendthatyouprint
templatesforeachofthedesignsused(asnotedonthefollowingpage)andarrangetheembroiderycompositiononthe
jacketpieces.Althoughyoucanuseconventionalprinterpapertoprinttemplates,usingTranslucentFoundationPaperwill
allowyoutoseethroughthepaper,makingiteasiertoalignthedesigns.Besuretotrimawayexcesspaperaroundstitch
fieldforeasierarranging.
• Removeexcessstabilizeraccordingtostabilizerinstructions,afterembroideringeachsection.

• Constructjacketfollowingpatterninstructions.
• Tipsforbindingthejacket:
-Cut2"crosswisestripsofribknitfabricandcuttubularconstructionwitha
singlestraightcuttolaybindingstripsflat.
-Joinshortendsofthebindingstrips,rightsidestogether,usingadiagonal
seamtoreducebulk.
-Trimseamallowancetoapproximately1/4";pressseamopen.
-Repeatforremainingbindingseams.
-Forjacketbody,mark1/4"infromnecklinecornersandhemcorners.
-Beginningatlowerhemside,stitchthebindingtothejacketedgeswitha
1/4"seamstoppingatthefirstmarkedpointatthecorner.Lockstitches.
-Foldbindingup,creatinga45°angle,aligningtheedgeofthebinding
withtheedgeofthejacket.
-Foldbindingdown,meetingbindingfoldtotopedgeofthejacketand
bindingedgetothesideedge.Stitcha1/4"seamontheside,startingat
foldededge.
-Repeatatremainingcornersandstitchtostartingpoint,overlapping1/2".
-Foldandfingerpressbindingawayfromjacketandtothewrongside,
coveringthestitchingline;pin.
-Securethefolded-underbindingedgebystitchingintheditchalongthe
bindingseam.
-Repeatprocessforsleeveends,startingattheinnerseam.
