MAKE A SPLASH FOR LADACIN Dear Family and Friends, The Eighth Annual Polar Bear Plunge to benefit LADACIN Network will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016. LADACIN Network, formerly Cerebral Palsy of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, is a non-profit Agency that provides lifetime assistance inclusive of education, therapeutic, social, vocational, residential and support services to over 3,500 infants, children and adults with complex physical and developmental disabilities or delays. On behalf of the Plunge Committee, LADACIN Network and the thousands of families who depend on its services each year, we cannot thank all of you enough for your continued donations, participation and sponsorships. Since the Inaugural Plunge seven years ago, we have raised over $606,000. The monies raised from this event have been used to meet the Agency's greatest need. Over the past several years the proceeds have helped fund adult programs; occupational, physical and speech therapies; and critical repairs and improvements in our residences. Last year’s Plunge attracted over 200 plungers and more than 1,000 spectators who came out to donate and enjoy the event. My involvement with LADACIN developed through the love and admiration that I have for my cousin Elizabeth Hartnett (“Liz”). The services that Liz receives from LADACIN have assisted her in becoming a productive member of the community. She has developed the skills to move into LADACIN’s independent living apartment complex and to spend several days a week assisting in the scanning/document management department of a local hospital. Liz is a truly inspiring, beautiful and brilliant woman who continues to amaze all who are fortunate enough to be in her presence. She continues to be my personal hero and the Polar Bear Plunge is my family’s way of thanking LADACIN for providing Liz with its life changing services for over forty years. Liz’s father and my uncle, J. Michael Hartnett, was a long-time Agency Board member and advocate for people with disabilities. Please see the enclosed brochure for complete information and to support the plunge. The host for the pre- and post-plunge festivities is once again Leggett’s Sand Bar & Restaurant in Manasquan. There will be a United States Marine Color Guard led by an Irish Marching Band, a 50/50 raffle, a buffet, and 95.9 WRAT will broadcast from the event. You can help ensure the continued success of this event with your participation as a plunger, sponsor, or by making a tax deductible donation. For those of you interested in making a donation online or creating your own fundraising page, visit the Polar Bear Plunge event page on the all-new LADACIN.org website.
