Why should I Plunge?
Funds raised through the Penguin Plunge benefit Special Olympics New Hampshire!
The ultimate goal of Special Olympics is to help people with intellectual
disabilities participate as productive and respected members of society at large,
by offering them a fair opportunity to develop and demonstrate their skills and
talents through sports training and competition, and by increasing the public’s
awareness of their capabilities and needs.
I WANT TO PLUNGE! WHAT DO I DO?
Follow these three steps and you’ll be ready to take the Plunge!
1. Register
Registration can be completed online by going to www.sonh.org or by filling
out a paper form and mailing it to the SONH Office. There is a $50 registration
fee…which counts toward your fundraising minimum!
2. Raise funds
Every Plunger needs to raise at least $350 to participate. The fastest and
easiest way to raise funds is by creating your own fundraising webpage with
FirstGiving. After you’ve registered for the event, create your fundraising
page. Customize the page by adding text and photos then send it to everyone
you know through email and social media. Donors can use their credit card to
donate directly to your Plunge. You can also collect donations by cash and
check. Checks should be made payable to SONH. Cash should be recorded on a
cash donor record form which is available on our website.
3. Check-in
Before Plunging, you need to check-in. Check-in takes place from 9-11am
before the Plunge – or you can attend any of our remote check-in sites (see
our website for details) the week before the Plunge. Remote check-in sites
typically have shorter lines – and allow you to head directly to the Casino on
Plunge day to begin the celebration.
At check-in you will:
• Hand in any cash and check donations that you received.
• Sign a waiver.
• Receive wristbands for you to Plunge and for a guest to access
the Hampton Casino Ballroom.
• Receive your incentives.
• All Plungers receive a Penguin Plunge apparel item
• Receive gift cards for additional fundraising beginning at $500 raised
• Receive a bonus item if you reach Royal Penguin status!
