We’ll get checked in and give you a chance to freshen up and perhaps have lunch. Then we’ll head out to visit two wineries— one for tasting and touring and the other for tasting and also dinner with pairings. One of the vinyards we will be visiting is Pindar Winery, for a tasting of five of their internationally acclaimed wines. Also we will hear about their new windmill that helps them to make wine with wind. In fact 80% of their energy for running the winery comes from that installation of this windmill. Long Island is one of the biggest producers of fine wines in the USA and that’s because of its geographical location which helps it’s precious grapes to grow abundantly. This should be a wonderful day. Upon returning to Sag Harbor, you are free to explore this wonderful town and it’s great shopping as well as the delightful ambiance which our hotel has to offer. Mary will be giving you interesting facts about why the Hamptons have appealed to celebrities and notables as well as fascinating information on this beautiful area. Next, we’ll head to Landcraft Environments located in Mattutick. This is truly an amazing place. They grow plants of all kinds—from bulbs and succulents to tropicals—in greenhouses as well as in their extensive gardens that are just begging to be visited. They also wholesale to many garden centers, including Pettengill Farm! We’ll then take a lunch stop (on your own) and continue our journey to mid-Long Island where we will visit Old Westbury House and Gardens in Westbury, NY. This is truly one of the East Coast’s best takes in terms of gardens and horticultural demonstrations, it’s nestled amidst 200 acres of formal gardens, landscaped grounds, woodlands, ponds and lakes. Westbury House is furnished with fine English antiques and decorative arts, it also served as the John S. Phipps family’s residence for more than fifty years. This evening will find ourselves at the lovely Spring Hill Suites in Bellport, NY. Dinner this evening is included and we will be going to the Harbor Crab Restaurant in Patchogue, NY., were we will enjoy a delicious buffet served on the deck of a triple decker steamboat (does not move) that is part of the restaurant.
