Resident Spotlight: Gloria
Gloria bore her second child.
Gloria was born in Enderland, North Dakota on August 16. There were 12 children in her family … and she thus spent a
lot of her time playing games with her 7
brothers. One of Gloria’s younger sisters
was born while Gloria was in High
School, and another sibling was born after
Gloria met her husband in Denver, and they were married 6 weeks later. They
had four children, and moved to Baker City in 1971, buying a ranch out at Pine
Creek. The family, and she and her husband, loved to travel. They went to Hawaii, travelled to all of the states, and went each year to Nevada on ranch business. Although Gloria worked on the ranch and raised her family, she also
worked as a bookkeeper … but she did have to say that of all jobs she has had,
she found out she was the “worst” waitress ever!
Gloria’s husband passed in 1991, and Gloria continued the tradition of travelling. The most memorable place was Norway where her father was from. Her
Dad moved with his mom from Norway when he was nine years old. While
Gloria was in Norway, she was able to visit the town where he was from. She
also found many of her father’s people buried in the local cemetery … in fact,
almost all of the graves were with the Hopperstad name!
Gloria moved to Meadowbrook in 2013. Meadowbrook feels so privileged to be
a part of this beautiful woman and her family’s life ~ Thank you, Diers family,
for making Meadowbrook your choice to care for your Mom!

~ Easter Dinner ~
Happy Spring!
We are all so excited with the thought of Spring. Baker County has stayed true so far with our tradition
of Spring around here. Sunny for a moment then spitting snow then sunny again!
Starting last month, we enjoyed the Resident Choice (Chef Spotlight) menu where the first table selected
got together and planned a wonderful meal (see below). Thank you to VJ, Karen, Evelyn and Mary, it
was FANTASTIC!
This is our one year anniversary with our management team, CCL. We have seen so many positive
changes in the past year and continue to thank them for their support of Meadowbrook Place as we continue to change and evolve.
Some fun activities are on the calendar this month with something for everyone to enjoy. Please take the
time to look it over and join in … We would love to have you!
Have a fun month everyone, and take care!
Suzanne
Meadowbrook Rumor Mill
Do you know who has to scare the deer off every evening when they are eating the bird seed out of the
bird feeder? … and it’s not Miss Kitty!
Do you know who worked on Ken Griffey, Jr.’s house with some specialized carpentry and construction
work?
Do you know who is known as the ‘pro’ of pool here at Meadowbrook? He likes to play every Thursday,
and gentlemen who play him keep asking when he will be back!
Easter Dinner
Spiral Cut Ham
Yams
Green Beans
Chiffon Salad
Cheesecake
Hot Rolls
Each resident is allowed two guests at no
charge. Each additional guest will be $7.50.
Please let the kitchen know if you will be
having company so that they may plan
accordingly.
Have a wonderful Easter Celebration!
Chef’s SpotOur brand-new Chef’s Spotlight goes to VJ, Evelyn, Karen and
Mary! Their menu? Fresh fruit, chicken fried steak, white
country gravy, acorn squash with brown sugar, mashed potatoes, and hot rolls. The ladies chose pineapple upside down
cake for dessert, and we listened to Frank Sinatra during dinner.
What a treat! It looks like Gloria, Marion, Pat and Virginia are
next …We look forward to what their special menu choices will
be!
