Our mission at the
Murfreesboro Housing Authority is to
provide decent, safe
and sanitary housing
in good repair for
eligible families in a
manner that promotes serviceability,

utilize all available
resources to maximize the social and
economic opportunities of our residents.
We have had many complaints about cats and dogs running-atlarge without leashes in our affordable housing neighborhoods. Please take
note of the excerpts from MHA’s Dwelling Lease Addendum Pet Policy:
1.
No animal shall be permitted to be loose and if the pet is taken outside it must be taken
outside on a leash and kept off other Tenant’s lawns.
2.
All authorized pet(s) must be under the control of an adult. An unleashed pet, or one tied to
a fixed object, is not considered to be under the control of an adult. Pets which are unleashed or leashed and unattended on HA property may be impounded and taken to the
local Animal Control.
Lascassas Food Pantry
Lascassas Food Pantry, provided by Lascassas Baptist Church, would like
everyone to know that they distribute food boxes once a month, which is on the Saturday following the first Wednesday of each month. The boxes are crammed with
nutritious food, which generally includes meats, fresh vegetables, canned and
boxed goods. You will need to arrive at Lascassas Baptist Church before 9 A.M. where you will
fill out and sign paperwork, so make sure you arrive before 9 A.M.
You must bring with you a picture id, utility bill that matches the address on your id, and
proof of low income; such as, proof of receiving food stamps or Families First, proof of receiving disability, or proof of low income housing or public housing. Once you fill out the required
paperwork, you must wait to be called to pick up your food box. The food box will be located
across the street at the Lascassas United Methodist Church. Lascassas Baptist Church is
located at 4750 E Jefferson Pike Lascassas, TN 37085

Low Cost Camps for Our Kids this Summer
Murfreesboro City Schools Community Outreach will host two
self esteem camps for boys and girls 5-6th grades.
The Boys Camp is Tuesday May 26th through Friday May 29th from 8:00 A.M. till 2:00
P.M.
The Girls Camp is Monday June 1st through Friday June 5th from 8:30 A.M. till 2:00 P.M.
The fee is $20.00 for the week and you must provide your own transportation.
There will be field trips, arts and crafts, and other great activities. Lunch is provided.

(If you have heard of Project Go, it is now called the Youth Development Program)
CAMP HOURS ARE 10AM-2PM. OPERATING HOURS ARE 10AM-2PM 3PM-6PM. BREAKFAST AND LUNCH WILL
BE PROVIDED THROUGH THE SUMMER FEEDING PROGRAM.
They will have arts and crafts, a summer reading program, cooking class, youth fitness program, cheerleader/football
camp (June 2nd-5th), sports camps, and various field trips like kayaking, and an adventure trip to Short Springs in Tullahoma along with other activities from outside partners. If you would like more information you are welcome

Trip to Farmers Market
Food Distribution
On May 11th, the Franklin Heights Family Learning and
Resource Center will have a food distribution day starting
at 1:00 P.M. You must call a week in advance if you

Nissan Smyrna Plant Tour
We’re taking a trip to Famers Market on
May 15th to get some fresh veggies. Pick-up
will begin at 9:30 A.M. and will be back by noon.
The Rutherford county Farmers' Market is a Producer-Only
Farmers Market located in the indoor/open air Community
Center at the Lane Agri-Park in Murfreesboro. They accept
credit, debit, and EBT payments at the market!

Nissan Tour—Free
Taco Bell– $7-$10
Come join us for an educational tour of the Nissan
Plant in Smyrna. It’s sure to be interesting, especially when
you think about how they can take a block of steel and turn it
into a vehicle. The tour takes a little over an hour to complete
and it’s free. Very little walking involved. After touring the plant
will do lunch across the street at Taco Bell. You must call in advance to reserve a seat in the van, since you have to have a special pass to park at the Nissan Plant you will need to ride with us.
The first 14 folks that sign up get to go, so don’t delay! For more

Bingo at Patterson Park Community Center
Cost:
Entrance fee of $2.00
Lunch at Subway—$6-$10
The entrance fee allows you to play bingo with a chance
of winning small prizes and a grand prize. The entrance
fee also gives you access to the game room with pool tables and the walking track.
We will play bingo then walk a bit and finally go
get some lunch. Bingo is from 10am till 11am on
May 20th. Pick up time will start at 9:15am. Please call
Donald at 615-225-9484 to reserve a seat on the van if you would like
a ride to this event.
GED Preparation Classes
For the month of May, every Monday and Wednesday
starting 9:00 A.M. and ending at 12:00 P.M., a teacher from the
County School system will be at Franklin Heights Family Learning
and Resource Center to prep you for your GED. This class will end
for summer break the last week of May.

MHA Resident Bingo
Come join us for Bingo at the MHA’s main office on May 29th from 10:30 A.M. - 1:30 P.M.. Our
speaker this month will be Sharon Baker who is a TennCare
Representative. She will talk to us about enrollment and assistance. She is a certified TennCare Navigator and understands
the Medicare system. Lite refreshments will be served.

Maintenance Calls—After Hours

maintenance is called to your apartment
after hours and it is not an emergency you
will be charged for the visit.
TAHRA college scholarship applications are now available for students
and/or adults who reside in our housing authority.
