I believe that strong professional relationships within a district are vital and are the basis of a firm foundation for effective instruction that meets the needs of all students. With this in mind, I have utilized my first two months as Superintendent to reach out to CCSD staff and community leaders to establish professional relationships, gain an understanding of systems and structures already in place and to learn more about the people in our district and the families in our community. The conversations have been insightful and underscore the strength of a school district and a community working together for one common goal, the education of our youth. I will be working with administrators to carefully consider all of the feedback I have received and use it to create a shared vision for the District that we can all take pride in. During the school year, I welcome the opportunity to create professional partnerships with you as well, while making decisions that are in the best interest of our students. I look forward to seeing you in our schools and at student events, PTA sessions, district and board meetings as well as other venues. I have also been working closely with our principals and administrators to ready our schools for the upcoming year. The year ahead will be filled with exploration and learning opportunities for our students, and I am excited for all its potential. Let’s celebrate the success of our students and members of the school community while working as partners in education. Make it a great day! Mr. Martin D. Cox, Superintendent of Schools »» Our Mission The Clarkstown Central School District, in a mutually respectful partnership with the community and within a secure, caring environment, will meet the unique needs of its students and motivate and enable them to be life-long learners and productive, ethical contributors to an ever-changing global society. GRAD-Nite GRAD-Nite is a late-night, alcohol, tobacco and drug-free chaperoned celebration open to all graduating seniors on the night of graduation. Understanding that graduates often “party hop” in an effort to celebrate with as many classmates as possible, GRAD-Nite was created to provide a safe alternative while allowing the students a final opportunity to be together as a class. Most importantly, GRAD Nite keeps ALL of the participating graduates off the roads, preventing them from becoming an accident statistic and allowing their parents to rest easy knowing their sons/daughters are celebrating safely. GRAD-Nite is a parent-sponsored event, coordinated by an independent group of volunteers and supported by the Clarkstown Central School District, the North and South PTSAs, the parents of the graduates along with community members and local businesses. These applications, when required, will be made by certified individuals in accordance with the label directions. Individuals that wish to be notified forty-eight hours in advance, may go to our website at www.ccsd.edu/Pesticide to complete the Pesticide Use Notification form and return it to the school district, indicating their desire to be on the notification list.
