Vacation Bible School will be here before you know it! Make sure you
start inviting and encouraging your friends to bring their children to be a
part of it this year. As always, we need a lot of help. We are looking for
volunteers to teach classes, help decorate, help with crafts, serve
snacks, and just being around to help wherever needed! If you can help,
please see Dave and let him know. Thanks!

Pew Packers will be meeting tonight following our evening worship service. This is
always a great time of singing, learning, and laughing for the children of our
congregation.
On Sunday, May 31st, the McCarver Visitation team will be meeting at the home of Mark and
Rachel Westcott. The Wallace Visitation team will be meeting on Sunday June 7th in the
fellowship hall following our evening services. If you are not currently a part of a visitation team
you are encouraged to become an active part of this ministry. You will be glad you did.
Our leadership will be meeting Sunday June 7th. Our elders will be meeting at 2 p.m., our deacons
will be meeting at 3 p.m., and then they will meet collectively at 3:30 p.m. We are so thankful for all of
the men who serve this congregation so diligently in these important roles of leadership.
Sunday, June 14th, everyone who’s last name begins with J, K, or L are invited to the home
of Blake and Rebekah Jones following our evening worship service. The evening is more
about fellowship than food and if you can come, they would be honored by your presence.

With June comes a new month and we again thank those that contribute
toward our new land. We have some members that have had to discontinue
or reduce their pledges and we are in need of new contributors to join this
work. Our balance on this loan is $127,331 and if you would like to assist
you can make lump sum contributions or make a monthly pledge. You may
leave your contribution in the land pledge box in the foyer outside of Dave
Lasseter’s office door. Thanks so much for your continued support!

With the beautiful spring weather comes the
never ending need to keep the yard around
the church building cut and looking good.
We are so thankful for those who have
volunteered in the past to do this kind act of
service. It is greatly appreciated. If you
would like to help out with this there is a sign
up sheet on the hall way bulletin board or

Our deepest sympathy is extended to the family
of Nathan Owens. He passed away last Saturday,
May 23rd. His graveside service was this past
Tuesday. So much could be said about Nathan,
but we feel his words are so much more powerful
than ours. Nathan was a poet and below you can
read a poem entitled “Heaven” that he wrote in
2006. Let’s
all continue to pray for and
encourage his precious wife Cheryl and the rest
of their family in any way that we can as they go
through this time of grief.
I want to go to Heaven: To see God's Holy face.
I want to go to Heaven: To thank Him for His Grace.
I want to go to Heaven: To hear the angel band.
I want to stroll on the streets of gold and see the pure streams flow.
I want to see Paul and Silas and watch Samson's new hair grow.
I want to go to Heaven; where you never grow old.
Soon, it will happen, and I will shout with glee.
Oh! What a sight! That's going to be.
"Hey John, Hey James, Hey Bartholomew ".
You never got to know me, but, I read all about you.
I'd love to stay longer, but, I'm meeting Moses at 2:00.
Ten thousand years have ended and I've only just begun.
How I love being in Heaven here with God's only Son.
"Eve, you are a looker, I see why Adam fell for you."
Don't worry about the fruit up here, eat until you're through.
I see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, with Daniel standing near.
The three Hebrew children, grinning from ear to ear.
There's no need for autographs, everyone's the same.
We were all allowed to enter, because Jesus Christ was slain.
I never got to mention : David, Peter, and Noah too.
But, We all get to see them: Now, I'm looking for you.
This past Sunday morning LaReda
Buchanan and her oldest son
Michael came forward asking that
we be praying for their family. What
a wonderful thing to see a family
striving to be who God wants them
to be. We are so thankful that the
Buchanan family is a part of the
Rainbow family.
Then on Sunday night following our
worship service Benny Boyles and
Donald Krump were baptized for
the forgiveness of their sins! What
a wonderful thing to see these two
men submitting their lives to Jesus
Christ! We will try to have their
contact information in next week’s
Beacon. Let’s make sure that we
all welcome our two new brothers
in Christ. What a blessing it is to
be a part of a congregation where
hearts our tender and people are
responding to the Gospel of Jesus
Christ. TO GOD BE ALL THE
GLORY!
