January 2016 • 12th Edition EL NUEVO MENSAJERO FROM CORPORATE From the Desk of Javier Dear Colaboradores, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year and thank you for the great work you did in 2015. I’m confident 2016 will bring great things for Mi Pueblo and for all of you who work hard to make this company successful. Starting a new year allows us to take a fresh look at what lies ahead and to set new goals and expectations. As we kick-off the New Year, I’d like to remind everyone of the importance of providing outstanding customer service by going above and beyond when addressing our customers’ needs. I’d also like to take this opportunity to remind you that Mi Pueblo is an operations-based company. All areas of Mi Pueblo, from corporate, to produce, to the bakery, are inter-connected. Therefore, it’s absolutely crucial for all areas to support each other in order to operate effectively and efficiently, and increase overall business. As I’ve said in my frequent store visits, the corporate office exists to serve, support, and assist our stores with anything they need. Please don’t hesitate to contact the corporate team if you have any questions or concerns. This month’s Nuevo Mensajero newsletter includes information on new employees, lists of upcoming community events, and a recap of 2015 and the activities Mi Pueblo did this past year. Please feel free to share your comments and suggestions for any content and photos you’d like to see featured in next month’s issue to [email protected] Let’s have a great year! Sincerely, Javier Ramírez, CEO and President Xolos vs. Monarcas Avaya Stadium What better way to start the year. On January 2, the players of Morelia, Pablo Velázquez, Carlos Morales and Juan Pablo Rodrigez visited us at store #12 Capitol in San Jose and were signing autographs. Then the next day, January 3rd, Mi Pueblo was present for the COPA Nissan match Monarcas de Morelia vs Xolos de Tijuana. Leading up to the kickoff, fans were able to enjoy the Mexican Soccer Festival with special guest, Jorge Campos. El Mero Mero even made it to the big screen! Miguel “El Piojo” Herrera lead the Xolos winning the match 2-1. EMPLOYEE November & OF THE MONTH! December At Mi Pueblo we appreciate and recognize the hard work from our team members. The festivities included food, fun activities and giveaways, where lucky colaboradores won television sets, Starbucks gift cards, Visa gift cards and even a paid weekend off! Rosca de Reyes Breaks Sales Record! This year our customers didn’t go without noticing our freshly baked Roscas de Reyes. Customers lined up to get their fresh out of the oven traditional Rosca. Just like that the Rosca de Reyes broke its own sales record, selling more than 13,000 roscas in just one day! Thanks to all our skilled bakers and the rest of the team! Customer Service Shout-outs! Special shout-out to Store 3 for their great customer service! “Prior to moving to downtown, I lived in west San Jose. I was accustomed to shopping at markets such as Safeway and Lunardis. When I first moved to downtown I continued to shop at stores I was familiar with. On a few occasions I would stop in at Mi Pueblo for quick need items. Well that has changed over the last year or so, and I shop at Mi Pueblo for most of my grocery needs. There are a few items that I need that are only carried in certain stores, but the bulk of my shopping is done and will continue to be done at Mi Pueblo. The single and most important reason that I shop almost exclusively at Mi Pueblo is customer service. I am greeted by many of the staff (existing and new) in a personal manner that never happened in the other stores I shopped at. I had mentioned this to one of the managers (Maricruz, she is very helpful and a pleasure to see when I shop) and that I shop there because I am treated like family. It is difficult in any business sector to see coworkers be released from their job as it effects more than just that individual. I will support the staff at Mi Pueblo in the only way I can by being a continued loyal faithful shopper there.” – Doug Keep up the great work Rosa! “Hi, I just want to request that this email get forwarded to the Salinas’s manager. I came in today, 1/12/15, and I just want it noted that Rosa gave me great customer service. I have seen her before when I have ordered from your taqueria area in the past, and she has always been extremely personable and friendly. I believe hard workers that provide excellent customer service should be commended, so this is why I am writing this email.” – Leah Alvarez Promotion List We are honored to announce the employees who have been promoted for their hard work and dedication.
