EL NUEVO

FROM CORPORATE
From the
Desk of Javier
Dear Colaboradores,
As many of you already know, we recently
launched Mi Pueblo’s Salud y Belleza
health and wellness program. We are very
proud to launch this initiative to make a
difference in our colaboradores and community’s lives. March marks Natural Nutrition Month, what better time to start a
healthier lifestyle? We encourage everyone to take advantage of this program as
the goal is to provide you advice and resources to live a healthier lifestyle and to
improve your family’s well-being. Make
sure to stop by our next in-store workshop to meet our nutrition expert!
This month’s Nuevo Mensajero newsletter includes information on our colaborador spotlight, new hires, information
on immigration clinics and upcoming community events. Please feel free
to share your comments and suggestions for content and photos you’d like
to see featured in next month’s issue to
[email protected].
Sincerely,
Javier Ramírez,
CEO and President
Health & Wellness Program
The prevalence of obesity among the Hispanic
population is growing at an alarming rate. According to the Center for Disease Control and
Prevention, Hispanics are 1.2 times more likely
to suffer from obesity and other health related
problems. Being aware of the fact that heart
disease and diabetes are also two of the leading causes of death among the Hispanic community, Mi Pueblo launched the Salud y Belleza
program in an effort to increase awareness
among the community and provide healthier
and more accessible alternatives.
Mi Pueblo has partnered with Lisa Antillón, nutrition expert, to share healthy recipes, tips,
and advice through Mi Pueblo’s website, social media channels and the “Así es Mi Pueblo”
radio show. With more than 25 years of experience designing health workshops and educating people on how to lead a healthier lifestyle, Lisa Antillón will share low cost recipes,
beauty and skin care tips and more.
Additionally, we’ll host fun and informative
in-store workshops across all our stores to
provide shoppers and our colaboradores resources and advice on living a healthier lifestyle.
We hosted our first workshop on February 13 at the White Rd. location. To check
out Lisa’s tips and recipes visit Mi Pueblo’s
website and Facebook page.

A message from
the Safety Team
FROM MARKETING
Safety
First
¡Luchando por tu seguridad!
Remember to follow safety protocols to get the job
done right. The Safety Team will be giving out free
lunch vouchers to colaboradores who are working
safely and keeping their PPE. Here are a few team
members who have won a free lunch courtesy of
the Safety Team.
In case you missed him, El Mero Mero
has been touring our stores and surprising our customers and colaboradores by giving away prizes, taking
photos with children and paying for
customers’ groceries.
Don’t forget to invite your friends and
family to visit our stores and look for El Mero Mero. They might be lucky enough
to win a fully paid grocery cart during their visit!
Immigration Clinics
Information about DACA & Dual citizenship
On February 13, the Mexican Consulate of San Jose
along with OneJustice and
CET hosted an informative
clinic at our San Jose store
on Story Road. They gave
free DACA/naturalization
information, how to apply
for dual citizenship.
Customer Service
Shout-outs!
Special shout-out to Store 8, Modesto
for their great customer service!
ê
At Mi Pueblo we work very hard every day to provide outstanding customer service and a unique
shopping experience to our customers. Therefore,
nothing makes us happier than receiving positive
comments and feedback from our customers. We’d
like to share the following shout-out from a happy
customer. Keep up the good work!
Don’t forget that our colaboradores serve as Mi
Pueblo’s image and are representatives of our
brand. Without your hard work and dedication we
would not be able to serve our customers and the
community in a way that sets us apart from other
establishments. We ask you to please be courteous to our customers, always welcome them with
a smile, and make sure to go above and beyond
when assisting them.
Mango Ice Cream
Who said making ice
cream at home is difficult?
This recipe is takes 10 minutes and is delicious! Here
we suggest using mango,
but you can substitute for
two cups of strawberries
or mamey.
By Lisa Antillon
Ingredients:
• 6 ripe mangos
• 2 quarts heavy
whipping cream
• a dash of lemon
Instructions:
Blend all until it
turns to a cream
texture. Pour into a
container and freeze.
In addition to delicious mango it gives
you a lot of energy due to its high content of natural sugar (so it should be consumed in moderation by people who are
overweight or type 2 diabetes). It has vitamin A that helps improve vision, copper for producing red cells in our blood,
vitamin C to reinforce the immune system and collagen production for beautiful skin and to prevent infectious diseases such as influenza skin.
The cream is rich in cal
cium to build strong bones,
protein that strengthens your muscles and
fat for smooth skin and
flexible joints.
La Arrolladora banda
el Limon Meet & Greet
On February 10th and
11th, Mi Pueblo hosted a
Meet & Greet with La Arrolladora Banda El Limon
at our Hayward-Hesperian, San Jose- Story Rd
and Oakland store. More
than 300 people attended
each store to meet the
band. We also hosted a
contest to win tickets to
La Arrolladora Banda El
Limon’s concert on February 13 at Oracle Arena in Oakland.
Esperanza Aguirre from the Newark store was the lucky winner of
the VIP package. Cristian Gonzalez (Hayward), Ana Monterroso
(East Palo Alto), Mayra Ramirez (Watsonville) and Ana Azpeita,
(Hayward) also won tickets to attend the concert. Stay tuned for
more giveaways and surprises! Mi Pueblo… Siempre Contigo!
