AUGUST 10-12, 2012 LACROSSE, WI AUGUST 9-11, 2013 OCONOMOWOC, WI The Kittle Family Ma and Pa Design Engraving Sunshine Committee June Myklebust What is a Square Dancer? A Square Dancer is a person who knows his left from his right, but occasionally forgets it. A Square Dancer is someone who has learned to do as he is told (by the caller), but doesn't always do it. He is fanatical in his search for a good time, traveling miles in all kinds of weather, going places he would never go otherwise, spending all night on his feet which were killing him at work, and smiling happily all the time. A Square Dancer speaks a language all his own. He calls his partner his taw, his honey, his date, darling or pretty little thing, and he promenades, sashays, weaves, circulates, dances, circles around the ring, circle or set. He learns his dancing thru and thru: right and left thru, pass thru, turn thru, step thru, barge thru - and he must be agile enough to do such unlikely things as box the gnat, shoot the star, slip the clutch, pickup up a girl or shuck the corn. If this description fits you, don't worry. Although it is practically incurable, this disease is not at all harmful, and most square dancers have a strong desire to infect other members of the community. 7851 Wernick Rd. You don't even have to TELL people you're a caller. Somehow, they already KNOW. It's MAGIC. Let's suppose you're gonna dial 1 (800) 634-6753, which is the reservations phone number for the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas. Let's suppose you're gonna reserve a $79 a night room for the upcoming CALLERLAB convention, April 16 thru 19. The hotel is already gonna KNOW what you ARE, WITHOUT your having to TELL them!! Yes, it's true. The first thing you'll hear is this message: --> THANK YOU FOR CALLING. Now, HOW did they KNOW you're a CALLER? There's only ONE possible explanation: MAGIC! --> WE'RE BUSY HELPING OTHER CALLERS It makes sense. The CALLERLAB convention will be at the Riviera Hotel. Other callers are reserving their rooms too, so that's why they're busy helping your fellow callers. --> YOU ARE A VERY IMPORTANT CALLER Ah yes. They know that callers like to feel IMPORTANT. --> YOUR CALL MAY BE RECORDED Absolutely. Callers are recorded quite often, for various reasons. All callers KNOW this. It's amazing that the Riviera Hotel would know this, but somehow they KNOW. They acknowledge CALLERS. That's one of the main benefits of being a caller. It's the ONLY profession that gives you immediate worldwide recognition.
