UNICAL SCANPOL® METHOD FOR THE TREATMENT OF THE WASTES FROM PHOTORESIT AND SOLDER MASK PROCESSES AT THE PRINTED CIRCUITS MANUFACTURE Clean water for the future generations • The SCANPOL® 40 method has been developed especially for the treatment of spent developing and stripping solutions containing photo resist and solder mask. • The SCANPOL® 40 method precipitates dissolved photo resist and metals from the solution. • The treatment is pH-controlled and suits a throw flow plant very well. • The precipitated resist and the metals form stable flocks that settles quickly and are easy to separate using a chamber filter press. • In the clear decant and filtrate the concentration of metals and COD has been significant reduced. © Scan Drill KB • Properties of precipitation agent SCANPOL® 40: Composition: Mixture of acid salts Description: Clear, brown liquid Specific weight: 1.350 pH: Below 1 © Scan Drill KB • Advantages compared to iron chloride / lime method: - The amount of sludge will be reduced. The treatment tank should further more be equipped with a stirrer and a pH-meter. © Scan Drill KB • Instructions: - In order to obtain the best result it is recommended that all (dry film, solder mask, wet film) the used developing and stripping solutions as well as rinse water from these processes is collected in a separate storage tank. - The collected waste may be treated on batch way or in a through flow treatment installation. © Scan Drill KB • Batch treatment: - When SCANPOL® 40 is used with it’s original concentration, the pH-value in the treatment tank is first adjusted to pH 8.0 - 8.5 with sulphuric or hydrochloric acid. The exact value, which is to be used, has to be determined by laboratory tests. . After that SCANPOL® 40 is dosed with help of the pH measure to the treatment tank until the good precipitation of photoresist occur. - When the treatment is finished, the flocculation agent SCANPOL® 55 is added and the precipitated resist and the metals are allowed to settle. The clear liquid can then be tapped and the sludge can be dewatered. © Scan Drill KB • Batch treatment: pH pH pH © Scan Drill KB BATCH TREATMENT OF WASTES FROM DRY FILM AND SOLDER MASK © Scan Drill KB • Through flow treatment: - With this method, the wastes (used dry film developer, solder mask developer, dry film stripper, wet film developer and stripper mixed together) may be treated continuously. Installation for this treatment needs to have the following steps:• Pre-neutralisation - • Treatment with SCANPOL® 40 - • Flocculation • Sedimentation (separator) - • Sludge holding • Filter press - The sludge from both treatment methods is very easy to filtrate and achieved dewatered cakes may reach as high as 70 % dry substance. © Scan Drill KB • Through flow treatment: pH pH pH © Scan Drill KB NORMALISATION © Scan Drill KB NEUTRALISATION, DOSING OF SCANPOL® 40 © Scan Drill KB FLOCKULATION © Scan Drill KB FLOCKULATION © Scan Drill KB LAMELLA SEPARATOR © Scan Drill KB FILTER PRESS © Scan Drill KB TROUGH FLOW TREATMENT OF WASTES FROM DRY FILM AND SOLDER MASK • Safety regulations: - SCANPOL® 40 precipitation agent is a very acid solution. Contact with the skin is to be avoided. Apply normal precautions when handling the acid solution. © Scan Drill KB • Packing: - Non-recurring polyethylene barrels containing 270 kilos or IBC-containers containing 1350 kilos. • Storage: - Store the solution in its original packing separated from alkaline, organic material and cyanides. Avoid sunshine or other heat source. - Storage temperature: 5 - 25 C © Scan Drill KB • Product is available at: SCAN DRILL KB Sandgatan 22A 602 21 NORRKÖPING SWEDEN Tel/Fax: 0046-11-64204 [email protected] SCANDRILL POLSKA SC Pelplinska 4 81-258 GDYNIA, POLAND Tel/Fax: 0048-58-663 0128 [email protected] © Scan Drill KB
