Thirsty!
Ways to Make a Difference
for Teens with Thirsty Souls...
Are you thirsty? …Even if your body feels satisfied, what about your soul?
Maybe you recall what Jesus said while speaking to a thirsty Samaritan
woman as she prepared to draw water from a well: “Everyone who drinks
this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will
never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring
of water welling up to eternal life.” Knowing everything about this woman,
Jesus spoke directly to her deepest need. The relationships she had been
chasing would never satisfy. But Jesus offered “living water” that would
forever quench the longings of her soul.
YFC volunteers and staff members interact with dozens of teenagers each
day who are displaying the symptoms of spiritual thirst. Many of them try
to satisfy their needs through relationship, accomplishment, pornography,
or drinking and drugs, but the results are always the same. Whether they
devote themselves to something positive or negative the thirst continues to
gnaw at their souls. Nothing short of a deep connection with their Creator
will ever satisfy.
This evening, we have great news! Though many teenagers are “thirsty,”
you and I can be “thirst-quenchers” by organizing together to bring kids the
Good News. Want to be part of the solution for kids with thirsty souls?
Tonight you’ll hear about many opportunities for you to do that. Please join
us in praying that God will reveal what He wants YOU to do to make a significant difference in teenagers’ lives.

ACTION BREAK #2
1. Please spend a few seconds reading this meditation and quietly
praying about its meaning. Let God speak to you through it.
Between work, family, and my other commitments, life gets so busy
and hectic. Sometimes, by the end of the day, it seems like I barely
have enough energy to sit mindlessly in front of a TV screen or collapse into bed. Life races by and I seldom realize how long it has been
since I really listened to God or nurtured my soul. …Lord, please
quench the thirst that exists deep in my soul. …Please speak to me
about how you want me to help quench the thirst of others.
2. Please also take a few minutes to pray for teenagers in our
community.
3. Finally, please pray for the student whose name is on the water bot tle you’ve been given. Youth for Christ Ministry
