Mrs. McDonald’s Second Grade
Class: FUN IN THE LEAVES!
Mrs. McDonald’s class did a
week long unit on leaves. A
trip to the Stuart Park
resulted in many interesting
leaf sizes, shapes, and
patterns, Each student chose
one leaf to complete many
activities of which included
how many pennies it took to
cover their leaf, how many
seconds it took to drop the
leaf from their nose to the
ground, and how many
pennies the leaf would hold
before it sunk in a tub of
water. Pictured here is the
class outside playing in the
leaves.

this school year are row 1:

moustache, then you should read
the book Aldo Applesauce and find
out for yourself!
Stuart Veteran’s Day program
This year’s Veteran’s Day program will be Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 9 am in the Stuart Elementary
gym. We would like to extend an invitation to all Veterans to join us for this special program as well
as parents and grandparents. We work very hard to prepare a very meaningful program to honor
our Veteran’s and our country! We are planning to do a picture slide show for Veteran’s who cannot
attend the program or who have passed away. Please send pictures to be submitted to Mrs.
Taylor. Also include the Veteran’s relation to students or staff and branch of the military. Picture
deadline is Fri, Nov. 2. so we can have time to put the slide show together. Those Veterans that will
be in attendance at our program will be announced that day! Any questions, please email
([email protected]) or call.
BE DRUG FREE: RED RIBBON WEEK
West Central Valley Elementary students will be celebrating Red
Ribbon Week October 22-26. Red Ribbon Week was started in
1985 after Drug Enforcement Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena lost
his life trying to stop illegal drugs from coming into the United
States from Mexico. It is the week that we all pledge to “Be Drug
Free.” Students will be participating in various activities during
the week, and we will have theme days for each day that week.
Watch for a note to come home with the students on Friday,
October 19th with the list of theme days.
