Deputy Chairman/
Group Managing Director's
message
Dear fellow Bousteadians,
With 2012 behind us after having delivered a good profit in
excess of RM600 million, we look forward to a better year
ahead. The only way to achieve this will be with your combined
dedication and hard work. It is important that all our Divisions
and business units perform better during the year with
improved contributions to the Group’s profit.
At the same time, we must adopt a holistic approach in
increasing productivity while finding new ways to achieve
greater success. Additionally, it is important that we explore
ways to continue contributing to the communities in which we
operate, as corporate responsibility remains one of our focus
areas.
The year ahead holds many opportunities for all our Divisions.
We are hopeful that crude palm oil prices will trend better and
we hope to see healthier yields from the Plantation Division. As
our Pharmaceutical Division delivered strong earnings in 2012,
we expect to see them perform even better given the need
for improving healthcare in our nation. From our Property
Division, we are excited about the future development of Jalan
Cochrane and we are eager to replicate the success of Mutiara
Damansara in this new area.
Our Finance & Investment and Trading & Manufacturing
Divisions are expected to continue performing well, as they
have in the previous financial year. While the Heavy Industries
Division should deliver an improved contribution as a result of a
sharper focus on its core areas of business.
In essence, we are optimistic that every Division will do its utmost
during the months ahead. Challenges will always be there, it is how
we overcome them that sets us apart as a successful conglomerate.
Above all, I am certain Bousteadians will realise that we have to do
better and aim higher for your own personal growth and for the
collective growth of your respective departments, business units
and Divisions. Let this be a year of growth for us.
Thank you.

Perutusan Timbalan Pengerusi/Pengarah Urusan Kumpulan
MHS celebrates 30th anniversary
M
HS Aviation Sdn. Bhd. (MHS) recently celebrated its 30th Anniversary with the
official opening of its new engineering office building in Kerteh, Terengganu on
11 March 2013. The event was graced by MHS's Chairman, YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri
Lodin Wok Kamaruddin. About 100 guests and 300 staff came together to celebrate
this special occasion held at MHS hangar at the Kerteh Airport.
The event started off with a speech from MHS's Chief Executive Officer, En. Ma’som
Mahadi. This was followed by a speech from Tan Sri Lodin who congratulated
En. Ma’som and his key management team for having been in business for three decades.
Guests were then presented with a slideshow on MHS background and endeavours over
the past 30 years before witnessing the signing ceremony for the handover of MHS's
newest helicopter, an EC225 between MHS and Eurocopter Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
Paling penting, saya yakin semua staf Boustead menyedari
Terima kasih.
Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin
Tour of the building
This was immediately followed by the highlight of the day which was the ribbon cutting
and opening of the new building. Guests then toured the building and were briefed on the Kerteh operations before stepping
foot into the MHS hangar where they got the chance to get up close and personal with MHS’s various fleet of helicopters. Lucky
guests were even treated to a thrilling 40-minute ride along the Terengganu coastline on the Eurocopter’s state-of-the-art EC225
helicopter.
seperti tahun-tahun kewangan sebelumnya. Bahagian Industri

We started off the day with a tour around the town of Kuala Terengganu
whereby we visited the State Museum and the Crystal Mosque at Pulau
Wan Man. Later on, we proceeded to Istana Maziah to have a glimpse
of the royal palaces, as well as the famous China Town. We performed
our Friday prayers at the Floating Mosque and continued our visit to
Noor Arfa Craft Complex in Chendering which is the largest batik
producing company in Malaysia. We took the opportunity to
grab some batik handicrafts to take home. After an eventful
day, we headed to our hotel The Royale Aryani Terengganu
located in Merang, 40km from Kuala Terengganu. Later
in the evening, in the spirit of teambuilding, a beach
volley ball and beach football telematch was held
on the sandy beach of the resort overlooking
the South China Sea. We called it a day after
a fantastic barbeque dinner at the hotel.

Day 2
After a hearty breakfast, we were all set for the
eco-recreation activities where we embarked on
a cruise to Tasik Kenyir to witness the majestic
scenery of the biggest manmade lake in South
East Asia. We were very excited to dip ourselves in
the chilling water of the Lasir Waterfall but prior to
that, we were energised with some herbal drinks
at the Herbal Garden which houses more than
200 types of herbs. A trip to Terengganu would
not be complete without trying out the famous
keropok losong and a shopping trip to the Pasar
Payang. We managed to get some souvenirs for
ourselves and our loved ones. We concluded the
day with a seafood dinner at D’Muara Restaurant.

Our highlight for the day was snorkelling at Redang

underwater creatures. We also enjoyed feeding
the fish and visited the Marine Park Centre to
learn more about the marine wild life. The fun did
not end there as our lunch was equally fantastic
as it was served at the pristine sandy beach
of Laguna Redang Resort. We boarded the last
flight to Kuala Lumpur with a heavy heart but
nevertheless the trip had brought us closer and
fostered better understanding amongst the team.
Indeed, it was a memorable trip for us.

Razli mengayuh sambil beramal untuk Tabung Gaza
Berita Boustead (BB) ingin mengucapkan tahniah kepada saudara
Muhamad Razli Ibrahim dari Jabatan Komunikasi Kumpulan di
atas kejayaan beliau membuat kayuhan amal ‘Save Gaza, Cycling
For Palestine’ sejauh 200km bagi mengutip derma untuk Tabung
Gaza baru-baru ini. Sebanyak RM1,000.00 berjaya dikumpulkan
berbasikal jarak jauh bersama anak sulung saya, Amirul, tetapi bila
kayuhan sambil beramal seperti ‘Save Gaza, Cycling For Palestine.’
BB: Pernahkah Razli terlibat dalam mana-mana program kayuhan
amal sebelum ini?
Razli: Ada, setiap tahun, saya akan menyertai ‘Malakoff Charity Ride’
yang dianjurkan oleh syarikat Malakoff.
Selain itu, saya turut mengusahakan satu program kayuhan amal
pada awal tahun 2012 iaitu 'Rice For The Needy' atau ‘Nasi Untuk Yang
memerlukan.
Sebelum ini, program 'Rice For The Needy' tidak membabitkan manamana pihak tetapi kali ini sebagai ahli KSB, saya telah meminta
keizinan dan persetujuan daripada pengerusinya, En. Shoib Abdullah
basikal antaranya En. Ali serta anaknya Syakir, En. Rafi Ravi, En.
Syawal, En. Kamarul dan En. Hafiz yang bertindak sebagai pegawai
pengiring semasa kayuhan turut memberi sokongan moral kepada
saya.

Kayuhan
‘Save Gaza, Cycling
For
Palestine’
Semangat membara
sebelum memulakan
kayuhan
tersebut
telah
diadakan pada
hari Sabtu, 1 Disember 2012 bermula di stesen minyak Petronas
Sungai Tua. Laluan-laluan yang kami ikuti termasuklah Genting
Sempah, Bentong, Fraser Hill, Kuala Kubu Bharu, Batang Kali,
Ulu Yam Baru dan berakhir di Sungai Tua. Sebuah kenderaan
selagi saya mampu berkayuh.
kayuhan ‘Save Gaza, Cycling For Palestine’ ini.
Razli: Terima kasih.
