Perutusan Timbalan Pengerusi/
Pengarah Urusan Kumpulan
Dear fellow Bousteadians,
Staf Boustead yang dihargai,
As we pass three quarters of the year, I am particularly
pleased to note that our Group has registered a strong
profit after tax of RM229 million for the second quarter
of this financial year, marking a 70% jump in profit after
tax on a quarter-on-quarter basis. These results are a
clear indication of our Group’s stellar performance as
we are committed to enhancing shareholder value.
Ketika kita melewati tiga perempat tahun ini, saya dengan
sukacitanya ingin memaklumkan bahawa Kumpulan kita
telah mencatatkan keuntungan selepas cukai yang kukuh
sebanyak RM229 juta bagi suku kedua tahun kewangan
ini, iaitu peningkatan dalam keuntungan selepas cukai
sebanyak 70% berdasarkan suku-ke-suku tahun. Keputusankeputusan ini merupakan satu petunjuk jelas mengenai
pencapaian cemerlang Kumpulan kerana kita komited untuk
meningkatkan nilai pemegang saham.
We have seen an increase in performance in most of our
Divisions as a result of strong organic growth. Leading the
way for the year is our Plantation Division due to robust
crude palm oil prices. The Manufacturing and Trading
Division has also performed very well and we are glad
that the Pharmaceutical Division, being a new entity
in your Group, has started to bear fruit. The Property,
Finance and Investment as well as Heavy Industries
Divisions also have played a role in contributing to your
Group’s bottomline.
During this period, we have taken an important step to
articulating our Core Values and Core Competencies for
the benefit of all Bousteadians. I am glad to share with
you that our Core Values are Respect, Integrity, Teamwork
and Excellence (RITE) while our Core Competencies
are Results Driven, Shared Responsibility, Continuous
Improvement, Customer Focus and Interpersonal Skills
(RSCCI).
Semasa tempoh ini, kita telah mengambil satu langkah
penting untuk menjelaskan mengenai Nilai-nilai Teras dan
Kecekapan-kecekapan Teras kita bagi manfaat semua staf
Boustead. Saya gembira untuk berkongsi bersama anda
bahawa Nilai-nilai Teras kita adalah Hormat, Integriti, Kerja
Berpasukan dan Cemerlang sementara Kecekapan-kecekapan
Teras kita adalah Berkemudikan Pencapaian, Tanggungjawab
Bersama, Peningkatan Berterusan, Fokus Pelanggan dan
Kemahiran Perhubungan.
As our Group grows in size and our numbers increase,
it is crucial that all Bousteadians are aligned with the
aspirations of the Group in order to achieve meaningful
results for our shareholders and for our own personal
growth. On this basis, I hope these values will give us
the extra impetus to work harder.
Thank you.
Terima kasih.

hey say, “If you haven’t been

been to Hong Kong!” We therefore
made a point to visit the famous
Peak on our first day. The Peak
was simply breathtaking. The tram
ride to the top seemed frightening
to some especially when the tram
proceeded at a 45-degree angle but
the view from the top was
worth it.

there were all the shows, which included a 3D

music and dance at the Festival of the Lion King.

ur overall impression of Hong Kong was that it is bustling, vibrant, dynamic and orderly, with a unique blend of
eastern and western influences. It is a well-developed city filled with skyscrapers. We have never seen a place
where high-rise buildings are so close and concentrated and a skyline that goes on for such a long distance like we did in
Hong Kong. The pace of the city is fast - the people walk fast, eat fast, speak fast and live fast, even the escalators move
fast. Moving around Hong Kong was easy and safe thanks to their awesome transportation system, which is modern,
fast, efficient, systematic and clean. All in all, we had a lot of fun in Hong Kong. It is an interesting place with many
exciting things to do and we certainly made the most of our 4D/3N here.

Group Finance Retreat in Bangkok
(16 - 19 September 2011)
Sawadee Kaap! Bangkok… Here we come! In conjunction with the Malaysia Day national holiday, Group Finance Department
of Boustead Holdings Berhad had its 2011 retreat in Bangkok from 16 - 19 September 2011. The retreat was planned to further
strengthen bonds among members of the Group Finance team and at the same time rejuvenate everyone's mind, body and soul.
"Hi, nice meeting you!"
Day 1
The journey to the 'Land of A Thousand Smiles' began at 5.45 a.m. with an assembly in front of Wisma Boustead.
At 9.10 a.m., our flight, MH 784, departed for Bangkok and upon arrival, we were greeted by our Thai guide, Mr. Siripong. After
lunch, we visited the Ananta Samakhom, a western style marble palace built in the era of King Rama V, also known as the Arts of
Kingdom. Mr. Pong briefed us on the history surrounding the Siam Kingdom during that era and how much the people loved their
king. At the Throne Hall, everyone was awed by the magnificent craftmanship of the palace and the gold plated exhibits such as
the king’s throne and Royal Barge Suphannahongse. In addition to that, we were also fascinated with the exquisite and exclusive
traditional Thai weaving exhibits. We left the Arts of Kingdom to check in to the hotel. After resting in our respective hotel
rooms, we were treated to an authentic Thai dinner at Nopparat Thai Dance Museum restaurant. With this, we concluded our
first day in this beautiful foreign land.

Day 2

This day was indeed an eventful yet exciting day,
where everyone participated at the bowling competition held at SF
Strike Bowl at MBK Centre. At the bowling event, a total of
seven teams, consisting of four members in each team,
fought hard to achieve the highest score to claim the
Best Team Award. After the game, we filled our hungry
bellies with food from Yana Muslim Restaurant.
Subsequently, we indulged in a shopping spree
at Bangkok’s top shopping spots which included
MBK, Siam Discovery, Siam Center and Siam
Paragon. Finally, we
called it a day after
a
sumptuous
Indian buffet
dinner at First
Hotel.
The third day
began with a long motorGala dinner 2011
powered boat ride along
Chao Phraya river. Everyone
enjoyed sightseeing along the river while watching fish fighting for food. Upon seeing us, the
river merchants approached our boat on their small 'sampans' selling souvenirs, trinkets and
other merchandise. After lunch, we went to Chatuchak Weekend Market for shopping.
At Chatuchak, you can find everything under the sun, from food to clothing and furniture
to pet animals. Day 3 concluded after our Casual Black and Red Gala Dinner, where the
highlights were lucky draws, video presentation (flashbacks of Group Finance’s previous
retreats) and a game of 'musical chair.'
Day 4

With heavy hearts, we
packed our belongings to fly home.
Those who did not have enough of

the hotel while the adventurous
ones used the MRT to go to their
shopping destinations.
