Over this year, we have achieved positive financial results and this would not have been possible without the initiative and hard work put in by Bousteadians. Bhd. recently signed up as marketing partners of KidZania Kuala Lumpur. Our Deputy Chairman/Group Managing Director, Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Lodin Wok Kamaruddin signed the agreement on behalf of the Group. The Group’s BHPetrol station will be featured in KidZania Kuala Lumpur and children in the indoor theme park will have the opportunity to drive into a child-sized BHPetrol station to fuel up and check their tyre pressures at this station. The signing ceremony, which was held at the newly completed ballroom of the Royale Bintang Damansara Hotel, also included other marketing partners such as Sony, Celcom, KPJ Healthcare and MarryBrown. The RM80 million KidZania indoor theme park is aimed at children aged four to 14, where they can learn about the world of adult occupations by roleplaying different professions. It will occupy about 80,000 sq. ft. of space in the Curve NX, located across from the Curve and linked via an overhead bridge, and will house 59 different establishments and provide 90 different vocations for children to experience. KidZania Kuala Lumpur is expected to open its doors to the public by the first quarter of 2012. Shareholders approve all resolutions at Boustead EGM A Boustead EGM in session t the Extraordinary General Meeting of Boustead Holdings Berhad held on 22 December 2011 at Menara Boustead’s 4th floor Conference Room, all resolutions put forward were passed by the shareholders. The resolutions included the proposed divestment of Pharmaniaga Berhad’s shares to Boustead’s directors and executives as well as the proposed bonus issue of Boustead shares. Boustead participates in Investor Day 2011 B oustead Holdings Berhad participated in icapital.biz Berhad’s Investor Day held on 1 October 2011 at the KL Convention Centre. Held in conjunction with icapital.biz Berhad’s Annual General Meeting, the Investor Day aimed at educating investors about value investing, the benefits of investing in icapital.biz Berhad, and more. It saw exclusive participation from the listed companies that icapital.biz Berhad has invested in such as Boustead, Petronas Dagangan, Malaysia Smelting Corporation, Suria Capital and MPH Bookstore. Among the activities held included interactive Q&A sessions, corporate presentations and exciting exhibitions. The event concluded with a turnout of close to 4,000 investors. Boustead Naval Shipyard awarded RM9 billion contract B oustead Naval Shipyard Sdn. Bhd. has been awarded a contract with a ceiling value of RM9 billion on 16 December 2011 by the Ministry of Defence for the construction of six second generation littoral combat ships (Frigate Class). The delivery of the first ship was expected in 2017, with follow-up ships every six months thereafter. Pharmaniaga provides medical aid to orang asli Pos Kemar B ravo! Pharmaniaga Berhad’s Corporate Social Responsibility campaign has gone beyond borders to help the needy up north, in the remote orang asli settlement of Pos Kemar deep in the Belum Forest Reserve of Perak. The 4-day mission titled ‘Rancangan Pengumpulan Semula Kemar’ was in collaboration with Mercy Malaysia. Pharmaniaga’s SOS and Mercy Malaysia team, comprising a doctor, a dentist, a dental surgery assistant and two nurses, departed from Kuala Lumpur on Friday, 16 September 2011. The team experienced a two-hour boat ride through Tasik Banding and continued the journey on a 4X4 vehicle to reach the settlement later on the same day. MHS Aviation co-sponsors NITL cycling team 121 orang asli patients turned up to receive medical and dental treatment. Most of the cases required only minor attention. However, we experienced a few cases which required the doctors to improvise and perform minor surgery sessions with the limited tools we had. It was rather unfortunate for the orang asli people that we could only bring limited supplies of medicine and manpower during the mission. They were awarded the HSE Merit Award for their HSE performance during the financial year of their client, PC Mauritania. This safety recognition by Petronas is another milestone achievement for MHS Aviation. MHS Aviation achieves 1 million flight hours on Turbomeca engines D uring the recent Turbomeca Asia & Pacific Operators’ Symposium held in Langkawi from 9 - 11 November 2011, Turbomeca presented MHS Aviation Berhad with a plaque for achieving 1,000,000 flight hours on MHS fleet of helicopters equipped with Turbomeca engines. The NITL cyclists T imor Leste is already seeing, and feeling, MHS Aviation Berhad’s presence in Dili in many ways. Recently, MHS Aviation made its mark by co-sponsoring Timor Leste’s first established Insurance Company’s cycling team NITL in the ‘Tour De Timor 2011’, which is an annual international cycling event, held in Dili from 11 - 16 September 2011. The event was launched by H.E. President Dr. Jose Ramos-Horta, and witnessed by several foreign dignitaries. Despite the challenges and barriers that we faced, we did our best, served the community there, and helped out with whatever we could. Enriching lives has never been this fulfilling! Bhd. recently organised its staff teambuilding during a 4 day 3 night retreat in Bangkok. The objective was to strengthen bonds between old and new staff by exploring new experience in foreign country. we headed for lunch at Mak Yah Muslim Restaurant and went back to the hotel. We spent the evening at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, Bangkok inside the Siam Paragon Mall where we met world famous people, artists and celebrities. Our last dinner in Bangkok was at the Al-Hilal Muslim Restaurant before we went for our last minute shopping at MBK Mall. Upon arrival at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport, we were greeted by our tour guide Ms. Pinky before she took us for our first visit to Wat Arun or Temple of Dawn. We boarded a boat for a cruise along the Chao Phraya River where we stopped and fed the hungry catfish near the river side. We left the historical river and drove to Nopparat Restaurant where we had our dinner while being entertained by the cultural show. We checked-in late into our hotel at Pathumwan Princess attached to the famous MBK Mall. Day 1 We started early and visited The Royal Grand Palace before heading to Vimanmek Mansion which was built as a royal residence in the 20th century. We had our lunch at Al-Hilal Muslim Restaurant before heading back to our hotel and shopped at MBK Mall. Once we grew tired of shopping, we headed to Soffiya Muslim Restaurant for dinner. Since the night was still young, we walked through the Siam Paradise Night Bazaar to experience the night market shopping extravaganza. best price at Ja tuchak Market 4 We concluded our last day in Bangkok after breakfast and headed to the airport for our trip back to KL. He confirms that the exposure and development programmes provided by Boustead have been and will be of invaluable use to him. He also promises to continue to grow as a person and an employee and he is prepared for any other challenges and responsibilities bestowed upon him in the future. ! B oustead Holdings Berhad’s Group Human Capital Management Department staff recently took time off from their busy schedules for a departmental trip to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The trip, from 7 to 10 October 2011, was packed with exciting activities and visits. Date Joined Boustead: • February 2007 Current Position: • Accountant, Damansara Entertainment Centre Sdn Bhd Ahmad Fazril Fauzi started out at St. John’s Institution, where he completed his SPM in 2000 with Prinsip Perakaunan being one of the elective subjects in the examination. He completed his matriculation programme in Economics at the Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia and proceeded to Deakin University in Melbourne to pursue his bachelor's degree in Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Finance. He joined Boustead in February 2007 under the Accountant Trainee Programme. Since then, he has been assigned to Boustead Engineering Sdn Bhd, Group Finance, Boustead Hotels and Resorts Sdn Bhd and currently is an Accountant with Damansara Entertainment Centre Sdn Bhd. Fazril is an avid sports fan. He spends most of his free time either watching or playing football. He is also active in tennis and badminton. Being a Grade 7 pianist, his other major interest is music where he tries to attend as many live music shows as possible. By his own admission, having to attend classes on weekends, sit for exams while serving his responsibilities at work, was no walk in the park. In addition to all the assignments, quizzes and presentations that were pre-requisites for the course made the task just a little bit harder. He states that the only way to get through all five papers he sat for was by not looking too far ahead and take it one paper at a time. This attitude served him well as he completed the certification in less than three years and graduated in May 2011. When he received the results for the final examination, the feeling was one of overwhelming relief and happiness. “At that point my heart was beating out of my chest and when I found out I had passed, I felt like giving everyone a hug and a highfive. Needless to say there were some bemused faces around me!” He acknowledges that he knew it would be one of the most challenging phases in his life and was determined to take Group Human Capital Management departmental trip to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Mr. Daniel congratulating Fazril on his success Congratulations, Fazeyana and Fazura! We would like to congratulate Fazeyana and Fazura on their recent success in the MICPA exams. For their efforts, they have been promoted to the position of an Accountant. To them, we say well done! Fazeyana graduated from UiTM with a First Class Honours Bachelor’s Degree (Accountancy) in 2006. While at UiTM, she also signed up for the MICPA exams. Prior to joining Boustead in October 2010, Fazeyana had a 3-year working stint with Ernst & Young. Starting out as an Assistant Accountant with Group Finance, she acted as the accounting head for several small Fazeyana subsidiaries and assisted with Boustead group financial reporting. Fazeyana is currently married, and in her spare time, she enjoys shopping and snorkelling. Another successful MICPA graduate, Fazura had graduated with a Degree in Accounting at the University of Malaya in 2003. Before joining Mutiara Rini Sdn Bhd in May 2008 as an Assistant Accountant, Fazura had a 4-year working stint with Azman, Wong, Salleh and also worked as an accountant with a PLC for another 18 months. Fazura is an outdoor girl who enjoys cycling and running and is a regular at the Standard Chartered KL Marathon, Penang Bridge International Fazura Marathon, and BHPetrol Orange Run. During the Group’s tour of the Kota Kinabalu city, they passed historical and architectural sites such as the State Mosque as well as l games the Tun Mustapha Tower and visited the Trying out one of the traditiona Monsopiad Cultural Village, a living museum dedicated to the life and times of Monsopiad and his descendants. The Group also had the opportunity to experience the traditional bamboo dance taught by the dancers at the Monsopiad Cultural Village. Learning the Kadazan traditional bamboo dance The Group’s visit to Kota Kinabalu was also filled with adventurous activities, whereby they had the opportunity to visit the Poring Hot Spring, a popular recreation spot and well known for its natural hot spring and canopy walk. It was a fun experience walking through all four hanging bridges whilst appreciating the beautiful scenery from above. Despite the busy schedule, the Group managed to squeeze in some shopping time at popular shopping spots such as the Philipino Market and Gaya Market. (BHPetrol) added another two Touch ‘n Go SPOTs, with the seventh one located at the BHPetrol station near the southbound side of Sungai Besi Toll Plaza. The Touch ‘n Go SPOT (previously known as ‘Customer Service Counter’) has been operating in other petrol stations since July 2010, mainly for the convenience of Touch ‘n Go users, especially those travelling frequently on expressways. It was first initiated at the station in Sg. Kayu Ara along the Damansara Highway to the North Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE). the counters at strategic locations would encourage them to reload and purchase Touch ‘n Go cards and Smart Tags. No reload fee will be charged for those who reload their cards at Touch ‘n Go SPOTs. Currently, there are 1,200 reload points, excluding those at BHPetrol stations, that do not impose reload fees, out of the approximately 7,000 reload points available nationwide, which comprise ATM & CDM machines, petrol stations, toll plazas, agents and others. "This is how you reload your Touch 'n Go card!" The SPOTs at the BHPetrol Sg. Besi and Sg. Kayu Ara stations are strategically located as an alternative to the reload lanes at toll plazas, and are helping to lessen the traffic congestion. These SPOTs are also expected to widen its reach to existing Touch ‘n Go users and potential customers, as the availability of Touch ‘n Go SPOTs also offer the Toll Rebate Redemption service under the government’s 1Malaysia Frequent Traveller Programme where they can enquire and claim rebate. Ayu Rohaida Hj. Muda who received the first prize of RM50,000.00 in the September draw. The mother of two works in the Temerloh hospital in Pahang and plans to put aside the money for her children’s education. She was not the only big winner in September, as many other BHPetrol customers also won cash prizes ranging from the second prize of RM30,000.00 to 50 RM1,000.00 consolation prizes. And all they needed to do was spend a minimum of RM30.00 at participating BHPetrol service stations in Peninsular Malaysia. Its Centre Court was transformed into an enchanting fairy-tale kingdom with a magnificent castle as its centre piece. Themed ‘An Enchanting Christmas Kingdom: Where Wondrous Surprises Await,’ the Curve also lined up a variety of activities where shoppers can regale in the spirit of Christmas. These included a major dance production entitled, ‘Celebration of Joy: A Christmas Dance Production’ with fairy-tale characters such as ‘Queen Clarissa’, ‘Princess Sherwina’, ‘Prince Dash’, ‘Judith Joy’, ‘Puddin Tum-Tums’, ‘Proteus the Snow Wizard’, ‘Snowbell the Ice Fairy’, ‘Suzy Snowflake’ and ‘Jester the Teaser’. In addition, seeing that Christmas would not be complete without a Christmas tree, the Curve pulled out all stops with its 30-feet tall Christmas tree this year. Located at the Piazza, the tress was surrounded by golden arches and a garden of smaller Christmas trees adorned with colourful ornaments. Pinang di Klang. Rombongan ini diketuai oleh Tn. Hj Khushairi Mohd Hashim, Naib Presiden KSB. Rumah kebajikan tersebut diduduki seramai 40 orang kanak-kanak dan remaja yang berumur dalam lingkungan 3 tahun hingga 17 tahun. Menurut Pn. Noraini Hj. Sirat, pengelola rumah kebajikan tersebut rumah itu diasaskan oleh bapanya. Semasa lawatan, pihak rombongan berkesempatan melihat sekeliling kawasan asrama dan juga cara hidup anak-anak yatim rumah tersebut. Pihak KSB telah menyampaikan wang tunai berjumlah RM4,896.00, pakaian dan barang-barang Tn. Hj.
